Recommended. 
It was our decision to give birth in Asian Hospital despite the fact that it was 20mins away from our Malate condo and despite some complains from family and friends that it was too far. I did not regret the decision and we enjoyed every moment that we stay in Asian. In fact, we wanted to extend for a few more days because our P1,600 room rate (small private room which is as big as a large private room in Makati Med that costs 3,000+); is almost shouldered by our health care in the office. Imagine P1,100 is shouldered by Philamcare and P400 is shouldered by Philhealth. We are just paying P100 per stay that already includes food hotel food, nurse at a touch of a button, and free utilities&services (daily cleaning, aircon and drinking water).

WHAT I LOVE ABOUT ASIAN HOSPITAL!
1. Candelight Dinner and Makati Skyline Food. Yes, Makati Skyline serves the food so you feel like in a hotel rather than anguish at the sight of hospital food everytime it is delivered. There are 5 patient’s meal served at 6.30am,9.30am,12nn,3pm,6pm. So keep your expectations low, and taste the food in Asian — it is really good. The clincher is the candelight dinner on your last day. Although the candelight dinner is hosted inside one of the converted hospital rooms. The waiter said it used to be held outside in the patio but then they realized that it is not good for the mom. In any case, the steak meets our expectations. There is a glass of wine, salad and dessert.
2. Only 1,600 private room that looks like a hotel. Of coures, you could argue that a room in manila doctors would costs P1,200 only and even cheaper in polymedic. However, if your benchmark is Makati Med or St. Lukes, the cost of the room is too cheap. It already includes, a ref, tv, a nice restroom, 1 sofa fed, door curtains, pantry service (water, ice, and microwave). The only tip is that these rooms are limited. If you are not able to get one, you’ll be assigned a large private room costing around P2,400 which is still cheaper vs. P3,000+ rooms of Makati Med and St. Lukes.
3. Giving birth in Genesis. Genesis is located in the 3rd floor of Asian hospital where the birthing rooms are located. The birthroom is exactly like a small private room but the bed converts into an operation bed so it is really convenient. I think the delivery fees were reasonable:
Normal induced birth with epidural costs = 20,000
Huggery (Nursery) = 8,800
Anesthesiologist (In-House) = 14,800
Other small stuff we love: (a) FREE parking basement or public, (b) FREE local calls, (c) visiting hours is 6am until 9pm (d) you’ll really know who among your friends & relatives would extend an extra effort to visit you in Asian.
Other tips:
— rooming in your baby is a great experience — try it out,
— make sure you already fill out your philhealth forms and let your OB sign it already.
— finally, WE LOVE OUR PEDIA! I’ll write a separate posts on why we love her.
WHAT I HATE ABOUT ASIAN HOSPITAL
1. Understaffed! It is not true that the staff is “bobo” or does not do their job well. We found that some of them are good and helpful, except that it is either there are too many request that they cannot attend to all the patients at the same time OR they have just been assigned and lacked experience regarding the hotel’s operation or experience in handling patients. When you call for nurses, housekeeping or the huggery, it takes them almost 20mins to respond to your needs.
2. Overkill charging of our OB! Our OB charged us P37,000 as her professional fees and P5,500 for circumcision. I’m not sure if it is because she does not hold clinic there and there are additional charges for practicing in Asian or she really charges too much.
3. Inadequate tools. Specially there was a specific tool needed for circumcision that the Huggery did not have and they said that they need to order it from abroad. Also, the billing system is inadequate and process is not that great. You should be careful what they are charging you and you really need to understand your bill .

4. Birth Certificate Hassle. We got baby Aidan’s certificate after two weeks and this was great. However, it does not contain a registry number and you need to get it from the Muntinlupa city hall. What a hassle?!

If you taught your OB is expensive, ours charged us 45T/36T!!! 7.5T/5T for cisrcumcision, 18T/12T for the anesthesiologist. The second amount is what we actually paid to the doc thanks to being a close friend of a relative…
I’m not sure though if this was because the wifey had to go through CS after an unsuccessful lamaze birth attempt…

I’m glad that I’m not alone complaining about high professional fees. In fact, my wife got back to my OB and asked for Philhealth 2,500 refund for the OB prof fee, and got 4 free post consultation.
BTW, Yes I think our batch is 46th eng batch if I’m not mistaken.

She charges 20-25k for her fees, this includes the anesthesiologist’s fees.

Hey Kamusta to you i stumbled upon this site by accident while searching in vain for some help for my problem you see my fiance is expecting our baby in march 2009 she lives in Angeles city and i live in England the united kingdom mmm not ideal i know but i was trying to find out where and at what costs are involved in giving birth my fiance does not think public hosptals are very safe but i am not a rich man yet i only want my fiance and baby to be safe and well during the birth i have read that 50th peso is enough for a private ward would it be more if she needed a c-section if you could give me any links to hospitals in or close to Dau/ Mabalacat i would be so gratefull to you salamat..god bless you and your child who is now i guess around 3 lolol INGAT POH !!
Wow, I really found this entry informative! My hubby and I are from Los Banos, Laguna yet we are seriously considering going all the way to Alabang for me to give birth. I got confined in our local private hospital because of hyperemesis gravidarium less than a month ago. After the hospital’s “service”, hubby and I swore to ourselves that we won’t subject me and baby to their “service”. I was very sensitive with the smell, and going to the restroom made me vomit even more…guess why. And, what I hated most were the impolite nurses! They talk very loudly (I sleep in daytime; can’t sleep at night) even when I asked our helper to berate them.
I really want to give birth at Asian but I don’t like the fact that I have to go all the way to Alabang for my monthly check-ups. Imagine the travel PLUS the waiting. Do we really have to have an OB at Asian if I were to give birth there?

Hi! I like your post! I have given birth to three children at the Asian Hospital and have always been satisfied with the service since 2002. I work in the service industry and appreciate how service oriented they are. Things have changed though…when I gave birth there in 2002 they had the red lamp upon request for healing the suture faster. I heard they removed the service already due to a patient being burned maybe because of over exposure.
They used to perform the sponge bath in bed but maybe due to modernization they have asked me twice this time (Oct 2010) if I wanted to take a bath. When I said that I wanted a sponge bath they kind of pressed me if I can walk to the bathroom to do a spongebath. I understand that we all have different ways of doing things and I just wish that they will respect mine. I ended up doing it on my own in bed with the help of my mom.
I also noticed that they strongly suggest keeping the babies in the nursery rather than rooming in the baby. I roomed in my first two babies right away and keeping my new baby in the nursery was a welcome change. I just had to make an extra effort to wake up and make my way to the nursery for feeding times which means even in the middle of the night. But I guess in a way it also contributed to my fast recovery.
The nurses are still very friendly and good-looking or pleasant looking. I just had a bad experience when after my delivery I was really having a hard time passing urine so I requested for catheterization. The nurse in charge came up to me several times to encourage me to use the bed pan instead. I really was unable to have the urge to do so. When she administered the catheter to my she inserted it to the wrong hole and it bled (sorry too much information!!!) Then she asked for a more senior nurse and they tried to look for the right one and it hurt so much.
My lesson? Everyone has their own specializations and I should request for the person whose profession is specializing in that certain field.
I thought I learned my lesson well when in August 2010 I was admitted at Asian due to bleeding (I was having placenta previa at that time) and the nurse at the high risk area of Genesis tried to insert the needle for my i.v. It must have been a performance anxiety on her part because I said “Galingan mo ha” before she did it. She was able to insert it but it must’ve bent or my vein was too short because it bled and the fluid was not flowing through my vein. Ouch!!! She wanted to try on my other hand but I requested for an anesthesiologist instead. (My husband will pay for the bills anyway!)
For my delivery I have requested for an anesthesiologist for my i.v. already but failed to request for an o.b. for the catheterization in my room. Drats!
What happened after the nurse failed to get my urine? I insisted on walking to the toilet to be able to relieve myself even if I just gave birth 5 hours ago.
The lootbag for the baby has improved so much!!! I love it love it love it!!! It used to be just a bag with the logo of Asian Hospital printed on it and maybe something else inside. But what I got this year was full of goodies!!! It had magazines inside, Myra facial something in sachets, Pigeon breast pads, Pigeon wipes in small individual packs, Avent Moisturizing Nipple Cream, Avent food container, Avent breastpads, Vandol sampler cream, Oilatum soap, Celeteque Facial Wash, Celeteque cleanser toner moisturizer set, Mamy Poko for Newborn, I could go on and on…bottom line is I’m very happy with their gift bag this time! 🙂
My mom and I have been talking about how the building hasn’t changed since they opened. It still smells good and the paint is still well maintained. The food at the canteen downstairs was excellent when they opened (catered by Le Souffle) but at present it is also good and is reasonably priced (catered by Makati Skyline).
The only downside of the hospital being popular and not so highly priced is the availability of the rooms. I have been advised by my OB that the rooms have been scarce lately. I was just blessed to have been given a room on the day of my delivery maybe due to situational basis.
The room rates have also been adjusted through the years which is understandable. When they opened they used to have a semi-ward room when they opened which I liked since it rooms two patients and at that time they only had a few patients so you would end up having a big room with two t.v. sets and two beds. In 2006 when I had my second child I got the executive suite which I really liked since it was roomy and we had an extra bed for my mom to sleep in (with extra charge). This year we got the standard room last August 2010 and I was a bit disappointed with it because I felt like it was too small and once the visitor/nurse opens the door he sees you right away. Privacy is my main issue on the standard room. So for my delivery I have asked my mom to get the next best room which is the superior standard room thinking it would be much larger than the standard room. To my dismay it was about three feet bigger than the standard room. But I was still thankful I had a room anyway.
Overall I am satisfied with the service of Asian. There were a few glitches along the way but that is inevitable because no one is perfect. I would still choose Asian Hospital over other hospitals. My son have been admitted to Medical City and the room was way too pricey. I am open to trying St. Luke’s though…
Oh by the way…my OB at Asian charges 25k and she is even a celebrity doctor. I think your doctor charged you way too much. Good thing my doctor does mine pro-bono…but of course we give her something in return. 😉

On semi-private rooms, I'm not sure. Baka puede naman. On the charge, it depends per doctor.

OB prices are usually the same for all OBs per hospital as they have an agreed price. Its best to ask you OB in advance so you know and wont get surprised. Anesthesiologist is also usually 40% of the OB charge. Emergency CS is of course the most expensive followed by scheduled CS and then natural delivery.
Also hospital charges and some times even doctors charges go by the room you get, so get a semi private room or the cheapest room possible and get the cheapest rates possible. Get the presidential suite and see your bank account go negative (not from the room charge).
Our 2 babies were emergency CS and the prices were similar at Asian.
Philhealth can knock off a lot also in doctors and hospital charges so make sure you have philhealth BEFORE you get pregnant 🙂

I wanted to try it sana, in my previous pregnancy i undergo cs due to clamsia, and my baby girl died, at 48 days in the hospital she is pre-mature. she got infection in hospital. just want to know kung meron, so that i can got more adviced, and info.
