Fantastic Italian Cuisine @ Cantinetta

By

This is a clear winner when it comes to Italian Food!

This italian resto have been in existence for more than a year already and I’ve heard about this place from people raving about it. Last night, after hearing mass in Don Bosco, we went to Cantinetta at the end of pasong tamo extension. If you can see the empty tables above, all these tables are reserved for dinner. We are glad that they can still setup a table for 3 for walk-in guests like us in the non-smoking section of the resto.

According to the menu, Cantinetta is a small wine cellar, where the typical italian family store their wine for private consumption. Over time, the cantinetta turned into a small shop, selling from it the family’s wine label. Since my wife and I are the only ones dining with my son Aidan and yaya, we can only order two meals:

Quattro Formaggi. (P360) Popularly known as four cheese composed of Parmesan, Gorgozola, Ricotta, and Mozzarella served on a thin crust. We like it but it is at par with CPK.

Tagliatelle Tartufo. (P440) Egg made pasta with truffle, parmesan in white cream sauce. This pasta reminded us of our favorite pasta in Cafe Maestro. Both are expensive but both also serves the best italian pasta. We simply loved that mushroom taste of this pasta and this one was easily wiped out!

Cantinetta is located at:
Karrivin Plaza A
2316 Pasong Tamo Ext. Makati City
Tel# 892-9873 (better reserve specially the non-smoking area)

  1. If you go back to Cantinetta, try the Deliziosa pizza, Aragosta pasta (red sauce with lobster). For dessert, the tartuffo (nero/chocolate) and tiramisu were to die for. This is a great Italian resto!

  2. After several recommendations – including yours – we finally got around to dining at Cantinetta. We ordered several of the things we typically order at L’Opera, which was our standard for very good Italian cuisine, just to be able to compare the two. We are happy to say that, with the exception of the panna cotta, Cantinetta wins hands down! The mixed antipasti platter “for two” is actually good for three to four people! We tried the Aragosta (lobster) pasta and the Tagliatelle Tartufo, both of which are exceptional and come in substantial servings. We also had the grilled tenderloin in truffle cream sauce and the quattro formaggio pizza, both of which are superb. L’Opera’s panna cotta has a slightly better texture and I did miss the chopped walnuts and balsamic vinegar reduction in Cantinetta’s version. On the whole, Cantinetta’s a delightful discovery – perfect for our advance Valentine dinner.

  3. One little thing that seemed odd to me though: For what they’re charging for their dishes, one would’ve expected linen napkins, not paper napkins. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  4. hi! i tried this last friday. wow, heavenly…though they are really expensive now! the tartufo pasta is 510 pesos…the pizza is now 410-480 pesos. but i really love it. ๐Ÿ™‚ i’ll go back there to try the lobster pasta. ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Hi! I’ve been hearing a lot about this restaurant but is the place perfect or at least good enough to go to for an anniversary? I need help. ๐Ÿ™‚ If it’s not, you have other suggestions? My bf and I are looking for spanish or italian resto. ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. cantinetta’s pan fried salmon is just to die for.
if you’re looking for really good italian food and willing to spend a little more, maurizio ristorante on HV dela costa in makati hits the spot.
