Philippine Blog Awards 2007 – Oh What a Night!

By

Anton of Our Awesome Planet, Joel of Market Manila, and Lori of Dessert Comes First

This was so memorable for me — this is the first time I met Lori and the first time that the three of us were together in one room. I was really excited like a baby, and I have so much things to ask Lori that night but I was star strucked 🙂 All of us were finalists in the Home & Living Category which should stand for everything that is about the home, food and lifestyle. As it turned out, there was a big upset (in terms of sportsmanship) and Toni of Wifely Steps won the category because her blog is the finest really in the Home & Living category. It was a pleasure seeing Toni and her big smile during that night — well deserved!

Of course, as expected Market Manila won the 2007 Bloggers Choice Awards and this is the most prestigious of them all! According to the organizers, he got around 59 unique votes out of 600+ votes and he was my choice as well. We will make a big protest if he did not win that award! Also, congratulations to Lori for winning Globe’s special Deli Blog Award! Lori, you were so fabulous in your dress and I was pleasantly surprise to see a fit and beautiful Lori 🙂

Our Awesome Planet meets Bryan Boy

The celebrity of the night is no other than Bryan Boy and I did not hesitate to have a picture (or is it the other way around — I wish 🙂 He really arrived in style in the red carpet during that time and he posed for the cameras to the max. He was very nice and easy to talk to and his celebrity status did not get in the way of meeting other people. He was the most photographed person that night and he was also the talk of the town because he brought his yaya with him in full maid custome (how cute could that be). Congratulations again Bryan Boy for winning the Fashion Category ! You should host the next Philippine Blog Awards!

The blogger priest Stephen Cuyos, gave one of the best opening invocation that I’ve heard in any ceremony. It was so relevant to the fact that it starts to hit some nerves while he was saying it. Father, you are really soo cool! This was my only regret that night, that I was not able to get to know you in person. Here is the bloggers Prayer:

The Blogger’s Prayer by Stephen Cuyos
So compassionate, so faithful, so loving You are Our Father.
We ask You to increase our faith and our love for You that we may use blogging as an instrument to fulfill Your purposes.
May we become bloggers of truth and promoters of peace.
Help us to be steadfast in our Christian commitment that visitors may find in our blogs a source of encouragement and inspiration. Give us strength to proclaim Your word, that we may play our part in breaking down the walls of hostility in the world and use our blogs to strengthen the bonds of friendship, solidarity and love.
Make our hearts meek and humble
that we may treat our readers as friends, not as unique hits,
that we may strive to change ourselves for the better more often than we pimp our site templates,
that we may find more time to ease the pain of someone in our own home than to reply to comments left by strangers,

that we may interact with our next door neighbors as often as we chat with our blogrolled friends,
that we may be more concerned about helping the less privileged than about the number of subscribers to our RSS feeds.
Deliver us, Father, from spams and viruses, from pride and selfishness, and from the temptation to replicate images without permission and copy ideas without crediting the original authors.
May we always be united as a network of bloggers and friends working together in Your name. May our blogs lead us closer to You.
We ask all these through Christ, Our Lord. Amen.

Noemi of About my Recovery won the Family Blog award recognized by Globe.

The after party was always cool and gave me a chance to meet other bloggers like Eric of Byahilo and Bikoy of Bikoy.net!! So much juicy stories and controversial tsismis during that night that is non-bloggable. I went home at 2.30am…. Oh, what a night!
