The email address of OLD MANILA WALKS (oldmanilawalks@gmail.com) was hacked last December 18, 2007. There has been VERY DUBIOUS messages under this specific email address going around about us being stranded in an African country and soliciting money. Please DISREGARD this as it is a HOAX.
We are not sure if we’ll be able to get back to our system but unless we do, please be wary of any messages from oldmanilawalks@gmail.com, especially those that involve ASKING FOR MONEY. If it doesn’t concern Manila or walking tours for that matter, then it was probably not sent by us.
Lessons of the Day:
1. Please be wary of your mails, even if its from the same email company as yours.These hackers can be very, very, VERY deceiving with the way they word their email.
2. This can NEVER be overstated but never, never, NEVER give out VITAL INFORMATION to any one or any company apart from those whom you personally know.
3. Sometimes, the simplest reminders are the ones over looked. In the end, they’re the ones who cause the biggest headaches. For those have received the HOAX email and are not sure what it’s all about, please visit our website or drop us a message at oldmanilawalks2@gmail.com.

….i have hackers-emailers i believe was using my friends my families and my husband’s…. pretending they are our families & friends….well i have no other better choice but to talk to them if they can access info on me my friends families….nothing i can do about that….so if they are fake playing games and criminals the only HOPE i have is when breaking the law i hope the law enforcements are behind my tail decades before & after so perpetrators-penetrators are hooked so can be traced no matter how they will erase their high tech footsteps unless high tech companies wants to blackmail the world from decades of advanced planning but i don’t think that americans and europeans will really be that callouse to blackmail asian continent for economic and alliances reasons or to divide world sympathy if they will do that then there will be no winner if no one will practice mutual respect{harmony} being a gentlemen and if there’s no sense of decency left….then humans are in trouble coz everything will be a lie….civilizations will collapsed….world will be doomed….so i hope american whitemen in power will not bring down the whole planet….now that i am telling them what are the possible consequences…..political-economic gains-wealths are of no used if no mutual respect left….learned a lesson…..high techs are very helpfull but don’t be dependant coz high tech can control your lives anytime for profits….good luck…..

I’m part of Ivan’s mailing list as we joined one of his walking tours after our wedding in August. I got the hoax email from Ivan’s gmail address & showed it to my husband. Right away my husband knew there was something fishy with that email. It was very suspicious coz of the AIDS conference that he was supposed to be attending in Nigeria (why would Ivan, a walking tour guide, have any interest in such a cause?). Just the mention of the country Nigeria, people should be wary of any email especially soliciting for money. It’s the same old scam with a different twist. Thanks for posting the warning.
I got the message of Ivan’s too! But wasn’t sure if he had gone on a trip, plus me being out of town, couldn’t just text him to be sure. I sure hope my responding with a “hope you’re ok” email won’t mean my friends receiving a weird spam email. Sigh. The problems of technology.
I received that e-mail hoax, but suspected it wasn’t genuine, and so didn’t respond. I really couldn’t believe Ivan would send out a mass e-mail asking for money! It didn’t make sense — even if something like that did happen to him, there are several other options besides that.
Poor Ivan, I can imagine how frustrating this must be for him. 🙁

I have been receiving TONS of text messages (including a well-meaning phone call from as far as Australia!) regarding this message. Please help dissiminate to all those who have received this bogus email. Im really being nice by praying that the hacker who did this gets rotten blue cheese with moldy stinky tofu for this Christmas!

Thank God it was just a hoax. I felt guilty not doing anything. Glad I didn’t send money to the account.
