Rogin E Blogger’s Physique Challenge

This is my second attempt to lose weight (the first one was during the marathon last year.) Thanks to Rogin E for putting up this physique/ weight loss challenge for 3 fat bloggers (hehe) which includes Carlos Celdran and Paul Santos. I’m also starting to experiment with Vblogging and the video above is my first attempt . Check it out and let me know what you think ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. go anton go. i am 46 yrs old and has always been athletic. i am training for two short triathlon this summer in san francisco ca. which just slowly melted my taba in every part of my body. i hope you try to continue your running. the combination of strenght training and cardio will dramatically increase fat loss. exercise or training is more motivating if its sport specific ie marathon, biking or swimming. the most challenging part as alway is nutrition..mmm as they say whatever taste good is usually not good for you. i think you already did a good job investing on a personal trainer. i would next suggest a hr monitor to check your daily intensity. go slow. slow is smooth. smooth is fast….

  2. Good luck with your weight loss!
I hope you find a good routine that you find enjoyable and you stick with for the years to come! I’ll be following your blog to see how you do ๐Ÿ™‚ Don’t give up! It’s hard at first but once you get into a nice routine that you like, you’ll feel great – I’m sure of it.
I’ve been training in muay thai for the past 3 years now and it seems to be the only cardio intensive activity that I seem to enjoy. I tried the gym, all the gym type of classes like spinning, etc…but I guess it wasn’t right for me. I like to be able to interact with my training partners despite the majority of the time I’m kicking, punching, kneeing and elbowing them and vice versa ๐Ÿ˜› Sparing also relieves my stress after working and going to repetitive business meetings. I don’t know, maybe it might not be the right sport for you, but I’d suggest muay thai, maybe you might enjoy it too! I train 2-3 times a week and each and everytime I finish a session I feel great.
One of the things I learned at muay thai was to jump rope intensively, stretch correctly and kettlebell circuit training. If it’s not a training day, then I usually do about 100 pushups in the evening and try to jumprope for 5-10 mins. I really suggest you try jumproping, it’s actually a really good workout in itself and teaches you rhythm. Start off with just 1 minute of jumproping then steadily increase as the days go by. Kettlebells are also cool, you’ll be surprised that you can do it at home (if you buy the kettlebells) and with simple techniques it works out quite a lot of the muscles on your body at the same time…
You’ll probably learn this from the personal trainer you have, but, eating smaller meals 5 times a day is better than eating 3 big meals per day (though, i noticed in the Philippines people eat 5 small meals per day). It IS good to try and minimize the amount of carbs you eat but it is true, you need carbs when you work out. Maybe it might be a good idea to invest in some recovery powder (protein/carb) that you mix with water and drink after a hard workout.
I agree with ace that it’s good to get a heart rate monitor to check your stats when you work out. I really suggest the Suunto or Polar wrist computers (they’re both Finnish companies – some of them designed by the company I work at!) as their products are the top of the line. If you need suggestions on which models to buy…don’t hesitate to contact ๐Ÿ˜‰
