Before I went up to Banaue, I have a vague idea of what the Banaue Rice Terraces are. I thought you can only see this in only one area. That’s the biggest mistake because the rice terraces are all over the mountain provinces.
Batad is so far the best and unique Banaue Rice Terraces. Batad is one of the villages in Banaue, Ifugao.
You have to definitely see Batad and it is about an hour away from the main Banaue town.
In Banaue town itself, you can drive to the Main Viewpoint where you can see the P1,000 Banaue Rice Terraces shot. The rice terraces here are massive and you can’t help it to be in awe of how the ancient tribes were able to create these terraces.
This is the view of the rice terraces in the main town of Banaue. This is the shot of the rice terraces usually taken by media to highlight the urbanization of the terraces. Just remember this is just one of the terraces. The terraces in Batad are still very beautiful and they have a good plan to maintain it.

I would recommend that you definitely see Batad, Banaue Rice Terraces and go to the Main Viewpoint where the P1,000 Banaue shot was taken. Are there any other rice terraces worth going to?
I was in Kiangan,Ifugao last May 1 to 3 too. I just cant get enough of the rice terraces. there are 5 clusters of terraces that belongs to the the UNESCO World Heritage sites. Namely, Banaue-Bangaan cluster, Kiangan-Nagacadan cluster, Banaue-Batad cluster, Mayoyao cluster and Hungduan cluster. You may want to visit Sagada as well.
