OTOP Food Trip

Most of the foodies in Manila are raving about the One Town One Product (OTOP) Fair in Megatrade Hall in MegaMall. After doing an OTOP food trip, we can’t stop raving about it! Let me share with you our discoveries when we went around. The fair runs until tomorrow, Sunday and you should not miss it.

To start off the food trip, have a taste of Bing Angeles’ Tahong Chips (P20/P45)dipped in their own version of Sinamak. Tahong Chips is an OTOP product of Bacoor, Cavite. Then visit Teresita Verano’s colorful brooms which is a proud OTOP product from Caramoran, Catanduanes.

Check out the innovative C&C foods’ traditional Kesong Puti Dips and Spreads (P100), a product OTOP of Nueva Ecija. Usually there is a crowd that forms around this booth to taste the different flavors of Kesong Puti Dips and Spreads. Most of the people who tasted it, end up buying the product.

We don’t really need a hat but the Aurora Hats were so cute that we ended up buying one. The one that Rache bought costs P150.

Fly over to La Trinidad, Benguet and have a wine tasting at Jason’s Quality Wines. Check out their Strawberry, Blueberry, Yacon and Bugnay Wine. Bugnay Wine is our local red wine. I liked the blueberry and yacon wines.

The No. 1 Foodie Secret in the OTOP Fair is the Okey na Okoy booth. It serves the best Kalabasang Okoy (P15) which is a proud OTOP product of Baliuag, Bulacan.

For lunch, don’t forget to try the P70 Hero’s 250g Hungarian Sausage. We loved this and wondered where we can order one in Manila.

Don’t miss Aling Nene of Binan’s version of Buchi, only P10. Aling Nene is famous for their Puto Binan.

Now for your second wine tasting event, check out the Dory’s flavored Lambanog of Candelaria, Quezon. I loved the blueberry lambanog flavor with 22% alcohol.

For dessert, check out the different versions of Pili Nuts, Pastillas, and sweets. No one really stands out. I wondered is there a famous brand of Pili product in Bicol?

To end the food trip, don’t miss the naturally fermented and organically grown Basi Wine of Laoag City.

For pasalubong, buy this unique Wrapsody product from Albay, Bicol for only P180. This is Bicol’s version of the Greek Baklava dessert.

Nagutom ka na ba? (Are you getting hungry?) We can’t stop raving about this OTOP Fair! We’ll surely go to the next event!

  1. What a mouth-watering post Anton! Filipinos are truly inventive when it comes to food…tahong chips, flavored lambanog, etc.

  2. how much did those products and restos pay you for you to feature them in your “not really awesome” site?

  3. love the creativity of the products and the promise of something different…definitely some new things to make pabili the next time someone visits us here on the other side of globe…

  4. I’m not surprised with the okoy from Baliuag, Bulacan. It’s a staple in our parties & dinners at home.
My hubby is from Baliuag and I’m from Nueva Ecija.
Sayang the sans rival from Cabanatuan didn’t have a booth. They are home bakers kasi.

  5. Hi Anton!
Am so happy you that you featured the OTOP trade fair!
My fave trade fairs are that of the Bicol Region and Central Luzon, both will be held this October.

  6. hey gina salustiano.. you have a malicious mind. what makes you think this blogger was paid to feature the products that he did? have a life ma’am – or if you can’t can’t do that, leave people alone who have and are sharing what, to their view, is their version of an “awesome planet,” ok? i hope your God fixes up whatever problem you have that’s eating you up… have a good day.. and don’t forget to SMILE!

  7. Ms. Pilar:
We did not ask nor did we pay Mr. Anton to take a picture of our booth, Okey na Okoy to be featured in his site. We were not even aware of this shot when it was taken.
For what its worth, KUDOS to you Mr. Anton for giving small business like ours to be given attention in this format.
    Thank you.

  9. By the way, i just want to share to readers that as a company that has been featured on this website, i didn’t have a clue at all…i was surfing and i happen to check our distributors’ sites and i encountered this link with otop show and i discovered that we were featured here.
we didn’t pay anything to ‘our awesome planet’ to be featured. have i known, i would gladly offer even a sausage sandwich as a token, i would even offer a ‘better looking’ sausage sandwich…you know, putting the best foot forward.
i was even surprised to see my staff on the images. that’s why i am going to ask them if they remembered this and next time, to be at their best for spontaneous feature like this. i am sure they will be happy and proud to see themselves featured along with Hero Sausages.
again, thanks to ‘our awesome planet’.

  10. thanks for featuring my mom’s products(wrapsody). actually, we have other products that are made- to- order. the hopia de pili, pili puffs, mini baked mazapan and the chili garlic pili.. all of which falls under the non- traditional category.
for the other people who think that these features were paid for, it’s not. and i would like to thank Mr. Anton for such enthusiasm in posting our products during the OTOP Fair.
in behalf of my mom and dad, i would like to thank you for such privilege:)
