On 8-8-08, instead of watching the opening ceremonies of the Beijing Olympics, I witnessed the launching of the new GK Designer Village (GK 2.0) by Tony Meloto and the grand vision for Taguig 2.0 by Mayor Freddie R. Tiñga!
All the best architects in Manila will be helping to design the next level of GK community. The best architects for the least of our brothers (and for the least fees). The new GK community looks like the HDB (Housing & Development Board) Condos of Singapore. It would be low cost condominiums designed and supported by the countries top architects: Bobby Manosa, Bong Recio, Jun Palafox, Edith Oliveros, Budji Layug and the top architects of the United Architects of the Philippines! The first GK Designer Village site will be created in Taguig along C5. No doubt, GK is building a First World Philippines and raising a First Class Filipino.

Aside from being a Tony Meloto fan, I’m now a fan of Mayor Freddie R. Tiñga. He is transforming Taguig to be world class city by leveraging on technology to solve social issues in our country today. To bridge the gap between the public school education and private schools, he is implementing a distance learning program in the public schools. It would be equipped with Video Conferencing facilities to get the best teachers to educate the students of Taguig.
He also envisions Taguig to be the first 100% WIMAX city in the country! Yahoo! He is doing it by creating his own telecommunications company in Taguig. In my previous job, I worked with Smart and Globe to influence them to give unlimited broadband access for free or minimal cost. But the Telco giants are controlling unlimited broadband access for fear that it might have a huge impact on their voice business. I admire Mayor Tiñga’s vision and if Globe/ Smart won’t do it, he will build his own telecommunication system. Clap! Clap!
Did you know that Taguig will be equipped with 194 surveillance cameras by the end of 2008 and 400 cameras by end of 2009? They use Israeli technology for their cameras such that they could monitor the entire city virtually and they can even zoom in on plate number as needed. This would significantly reduce the crime rate in Taguig.
Lastly, he is planning to build a new modern airport in Taguig with better runway facilities, and to automate 100% of all the government transactions. Wow! All I can say is, let me know how I can help you, Mayor Tiñga, and I can offer my services and expertise to the city of Taguig.
I’m glad that we made a great decision to move from Manila to Taguig City. I’m voting Tony Meloto for President in 2010!

this is amazing! i am actually very surprised and amazed at how fast taguig is transforming! i am also hoping that the telco giants would follow mr.freddie’s initiative. actually, i am a bit dismayed when i go over my monthly expenses and see that a huge chunk goes to communication bills (instead of basic needs). it’s weird that we spend so much just to keep in touch with our family, friends… in other countries they have phone plans that really cater to users without being so expensive. hope the country is headed in this direction.
Well, Smart and Globe is just concerned about profits despite all their press release about helping the country. If they really want to help, they should enable unlimited broadband access for free or at a minimal fee. If they don’t change, their business model will be obsolete in a few years.
Yes, the country will be headed in that direction with or without Globe and Smart.

oh well, im from taguig and i say i dont buy it. As if we’re not used to all those politician promises. i mean mayor tinga has been in position for God knows how long. I can still remember his father being the congressman for decades.
its a good thing that he has plans for our city but i wont believe everything until it happened.
a brother from SFC is a fulltime GK worker working on this project. i’m really amazed by this development. i even asked him if i can get my own GK house, meron bang for sale? haha. i hope to see you in one of the builds, anton 🙂

With all the monies pouring in from the fort bonifacio developments, it’s not impossible to accomplish his plans. I will be optimist on this one. We should already give him credit just for giving the city back its tax money, instead of pocketing them. I’m sure the Binays are weeping over their lost of the Fort to Taguig =)
Oh, and I admire Tony Meloto and his family very well too. But to become the next President, that’s too much! I would just love to see him continue helping the poor — and I mean the really poor ones. Which brings me to this new condo-style housing. I think GK should be very careful with this one. If it ends up being really nice a housing project, it’s not unlikely that opportunists will just cash in on their new home (extreme makeover Atlanta home foreclosure comes to mind). I like the older style of GK villages.
It’s interesting how the home ownership stat for Taguig might look like in the near future. Low income families own homes, as well as the high income ones. But the middle class would still be renting =)
TM already said he has no plans to run for president. That’s just something his detractors are saying to discredit him. 🙂
tony meloto from what i heard is really a great guy to work with i just hope european union will help tony meloto in financing condominiums for the lower medium end of the societies who barely make it these days coz of high food-oil prices quality but not over charged i am ‘patiently’ waiting for gmmahoney’s belief that european union and NATO will increase it’s low-medium cost financing will stand side by side with her causes
helping to uplift educate house the poor about[8 million]is what i meant with gmmahoney’s causes & beliefs when i said “will stand side by side with her causes” coz of her families european permanent homes-residences and united states being member of NATO alliances based in europe who knew gmmahoney’s desire[for a very good reason]to make philippines a new world ‘model’ coming from old third world country to a new modern highly advanced civilizations and ‘thanks’ to all other asian countries to u.s. china’s {taiwan down under too}aids in particular thanks to full restaint in all squabbling filipino politicians thank you coz not to be a pain in the butt is certainly hard to do so go go go do a better job this time….i learned that future new tenants home payments for all this new condominiums will be automatically deducted from there wages so NO WAY they can cheat the new condo home payments system coz any business with no profits is not a business at all also a homeowners insurance will kick in just in case so it is a solid business system NEWLY in place lol!
