The Comedy Cartel – The Best Stand-Up Comedy Act in Manila!

Have you seen the Best Stand-Up Comedy Act in Manila?

I highly recommend Comedy Cartel if you are sick and tired of the usual gay comedy or slapstick humor in the comedy bars in Manila. I like the more intelligent humor (and sometimes green jokes) of the Comedy Cartel based on taboo truths about the Filipinos. However, I don’t like some of the proteges’ tasteless jokes about Christianity just to get a laugh from the crowd. Also, I’m hoping they could get a female stand-up comic to be part of the cartel.

I created a video sampler of the best jokes during the Laffamania last July 28 in Spicy Fingers. It features my favorite jokes by Eric Villarama, Alex Calleja, Mike Unson and Tim Tayag. It is guaranteed to make you laugh. You can watch the full Laffamania show every other monday by 8pm in Spicy Fingers. The show runs for two hours featuring the Comedy Cartel and their proteges. The next shows would be August 11 & 25, and September 15 & 29, 2008. They also have practice Open Mic sessions to test new jokes every 9pm Wednesday at my favorite wi-fi place in Serendra — Kape Isla.

The Comedy Cartel is a guild of professional comic artists whose aim is to expand and master the art of comedy beyond the usual definitions through the practice of the classic monologue form of standup and through sketch comedy. In other words, it was created to impress chicks…

This group is the first of its kind in the Philippines. As the Comedy Cartel, they hope to instill in each artist, professionalism, mastery, and respect for the art of comedy by providing training and building resources to further the craft. If they fail, then it’s back to selling hot dogs!

The Comedy Cartel is composed of Alex Calleja, Stanley Chi, JB Dela Cruz, Marlon Olivan, Tim Tayag, and Mike Unson. Other members include: Vic Anastacio, Trian Lauang, Red Ollero, Uli Oposa, Chickie Manio, Ryan Puno, Raffy Taruc, and Eric Villarama.

The Comedy Cartel is exclusively managed by:

  1. thanks for this post Anton. we decided to watch the show last night. i’m glad that such an act exists locally. i’m a fan of this style of stand-up comedy and hope that they thrive.
the show was good… but I think the one you saw was better 🙂 and you were spot on your feedback on Spicy Fingers… the waiters seems clueless of what they’re serving.

  2. 2 days lang sila sa spicy fingers?
any other venues if we can’t catch them on the said dates?
    thanks anton

  3. Hi Albin!
The Comedy Cartel will be performing in Spicy Fingers on the following dates:
    Aug 25
    Sept. 15
    Sept. 29
    Hope to see you there!

  4. It’s nice to know there are also fans of this style of comedy, like myself, as this is really what “stand-up comedy” is supposed to be; a performer, holding a microphone and delivering his or her point-of-view funny joke material to a scrutinizing, but very receptive audience. Such is performed by the likes of Jerry Seinfeld (my favorite, sana he performs here!), Chris Rock, Dave Chapelle, Ray Romano and other comedians who’ve already successfully crossed over to popular TV sitcoms and movies (check these guys’ youtube sites; they’ll surely crack you up). I’d love to watch a stand-up show without being insulted by a performer who lacks comedy material and resorts to using the audience as a “sounding board” just to be funny. I’ve been victimized by such in stand-up shows I’ve watched in Q.C. comedy clubs, making my viewing experience traumatic. I have friends who also told me that they prefer to watch these shows in the back seats so as not to attract attention from mostly gay “comedy hosts” (no gender bias intended), who might call them on stage, only to be ridiculed from head to foot. Actually, what we have here is more of a bastardized version (please excuse the term) of what stand-up comedy really is. Not to nitpick, as I’m sure some people also enjoy that kind of comedy, but I want a comedy show which stimulates cerebrally, offering a different side or view of life, albeit in a humorous manner. I also want this kind of comedy to further grow here and be an intellectual alternative to what’s being offered in the market. I’m sure there’s also people out there who might want to try performing this type of comedy act, as such could be “therapeutic,” not to mention fulfilling, especially for former class clowns (like me. he he he). Hope the Cartel comes up with a workshop for such. I’d definitely watch one of these shows. Thanks Anton for the post. Gladly appreciate it. =)

  5. i loved the show!! it’s such a refreshing alternative…please continue writing about these guys. i’m so curious to learn more about them!

  6. My friends and I watched this show. Its nice to see that there is this kind of comedy in the Philippines. I watched another comedy group in magnet high street and it was kinda dragging. they were using too many green humor. This show was really good. I liked the wholesome comedians. Although there are some comedians in this group that use some jokes I’ve read in joke books. I dont really know much about comedy, but in anything, plagiarism is bad. Like there was comedian who did a joke about the name Edgar Allan Pe. That joke can be seen in local joke books. Also there was this comedian where he used a joke from Archie Comics, the one that said girls save money by spending on something thats on sale. I think that its good that there are younger comedians(except for the on with tasteless one-liners) because it expands the market for this type of comedy. I especially liked Mike Unson. He had very funny spiels about dating girls which I could totally relate to. They should really get girl comedians to add color and balance to the group. Overall, these guys are a really funny group. I hope they do more shows. I hope that there will be more comedians like you guys.

  7. I got chance to see these guys and it was one of the funniest shows I’ve seen. I’ve seen alot of standup shows in Boston when I was getting my masters degree and I’m so happy that there’s something similar here. Most of the guys were good. Some were okay and not so original. I’ve heard similar jokes from the comedians I’ve seen in the States. But overall, great performance. I thought that Marlon guy was original and I liked his mah-jong tile bit. That Ryan Puno was also good and cute =) I’ll definitely keep watching these guys.

  8. Hi. Do you have to buy the tickets beforehand or can you just come to Spicy Fingers at around 7pm? Would love to see this

  9. You could get your tickets at the venue at around 7PM. I got mine around that time when I first watched their show last June. The problem is getting good seats, as their shows are usually packed. It’s best to call their management office (E-Circle Entertainment) at 533-9316 during office hours for ticket inquiries or table reservations. I got to reserve tickets via reserving them ahead and got good seats for a table of 8 pax. Look for Rochelle. They’re a very helpful bunch. Good luck and enjoy that show. Will watch it again soon.

  11. I love watching these guys! They’re super worth your time and money because you’re sure to leave the place laughing and remembering their jokes to tell to your friends! Hahahaha! My favorite’s Victor Anastacio! He’s super funny! 😀

  12. I started watching this group (Comedy Cartel) when they were still performing at Magnet Cafe in Bonifacio High Street. They are really funny. I like Tim Tayag , Mike Unson and Alex Calleja because they are consistently funny!!! More power!!! I will be there again on August 25.

  13. It’s my 3rd time watching this group along with my classmates. Most of them are funny. I like the tagalog-speaking Alex Calleja with his very Filipino take on marriage, childhood, being poor, and his very old car. He is very funny! I also like Tim Tayag for his airplane and rice jokes, Marlon Olivan for his mahjong-magic joke and Mike Unson for his MRT and cellphone jokes. For the new guys, Ryan Puno and Victor Anastacio are both funny. I hope we will finish our school projects early so we can catch them again on August 25.

  14. I first watched this show in magnet high street. My friend is the cousin of a comedian. when I first watched this show, it was okay. I mean it was nothing spectacular. There was this annoying kid who kept making fun of disabled people and making claims that there is no God(Comedy Cartel, you dont deserve talents like that). I really hated that kid. Anyway, when I watched them again last June, The performance really improved. The show was fantastic. I think they removed the annoying kid. Tim Tayag is really good and so is Mike Unson. All of them are really funny now!I would highly recommend that you guys watch this show!

  15. Hi Everybody! If you want to make table reservations – you may call me at 5339316. Hindi naman talaga kailangan ng reservations because you can just go to Spicy Fingers on the day itself. Minsan lang, puno na talaga ang venue and you won’t get good seats anymore… See you on August 25!

  16. “The show was fantastic. I think they removed the annoying kid.”
-The annoying kid’s name is Chuckie, he was also in the Jack TV contest but was eliminated. Yup, he hasn’t been in any of the Cartel’s Spicy Fingers shows. I’m not sure if they removed him, already. But for their sake, I really hope that they did. More power to The Comedy Cartel!!!

  17. Comedy Cartel sucks! JOKE! It’s the best in town YET. (since its the first ever stand up show I’ve watched.) hahaha Kidding aside, it’s one stress free gig. MORE TO COME GUYS!! MAGIC rocks! hahaha

  18. Funniest show in the metro! Great alternative to movie nights! Pareho lang ang presyo pero masnakakatawa at masmasaya! Good date place! Keep it up guys and looking forward to more of your shows.

  19. We invited Comedy Cartel to our org’s Jokefest for the Dateless last Feb ’08. Since then, we’ve been referring them to anyone who is willing to laugh and listen. they are the best (not just funny and fun, but theyre really a set of really nice guys)
    🙂
They made two former Senate Presidents laugh. I think that’s a big thing.

  20. great! it’s about time something like this is cooking up for the Filipinos. I agree with you, i like intelligent humor rather than the usual gay or slapstick standup comedy that even leaves one nervous if you’re their next “ookrayin”. haha

  21. You’re so right freeze. You came to watch a comedy show, albeit a supposedly funny one, only to be have your dignity and self esteem shredded to bacon bits by people who seems to think they own the world just ’cause they hold the microphone. Went to the Cartel’s show last night at Spicy Fingers. Was laughing in stitches!!! Their “every-other-Monday” show in Spicy Fingers is a “must-watch.” Will be back to watch them there on Sept. 15. See y’all there! Hooray for real Pinoy Comedy!!!

  22. Chuckie Manio sucks. Can you believe the gall of this guy actually trying to do something completely different from everyone else? The nerve! He does these jokes about handicapped people. Can you believe that? Those kind of jokes can be thought up by anyone with half a brain! Want me to prove it? Try to think up of one joke about deaf people that is funny. See how easy it is? Try rape and Christianity next time, they’re way easier! This dumbass actually strives to be unique? Why can’t he laugh about the same stuff that normal, everyday people laugh about? Is he not a normal, everyday kind of person? His juxtaposition of the hyper-intellectual and the incredibly disgusting in his jokes is stupid! He is stupid! No one likes him! No one ever laughed at him ever! The reason he even remains in periphery of the Comedy Cartel is that he is such a nice person! He has no skill. Chuckie Manio sucks. And if you don’t understand THIS, you’re better off not watching comedy.

  23. i think chuckie just has his own personal style. The guy’s probably misunderstood. i don’t think anyone has any right saying bad things about other people. I bet it’s difficult being a stand-up comic, standing up in front of a crowd, trying to make them laugh, and still write consistenly good jokes. I’m not siding with chuckie or anything, i just feel people are too caught up criticizing other people but are not able to look at their own reflection in the mirror.

  24. Loved the show!! There were a few who need a little more work but over all i was laughing uproariously. Mike Unson, Alex Calleja, Tim Tayag & The Guy in the Pink Shirt were the best! Will come back! =)

  25. Hi Amanda! THanks for watching our show last Aug 25. The guy-in-the-pink-shirt is MARLON OLIVAN. =)
Hope to see you again on September 15 & 29 for our LAUGH MAN STANDING show at Spicy Fingers!

  26. Guys, I know Chuckie has his own weird ways. Pero let’s give him a break. Kawawa naman siya – ganun lang talaga ang style siguro niya.

  27. Personally, I don’t find Eric Villarama funny! I don’t think he deserves to be a stand up comedian because his jokes are similar to Tim Tayag’s. I’m a big Tim Tayag fan, I always watch his shows at Capones when Allan was still around. I guess Tim being the more experienced comic (and way funnier) should be giving advice to posers or wannabes like Donita’s driver, or maybe tell him to do something more useful like maybe asking allowance from his wife or changing his baby’s diapers! Celebrities like him will just USE the group so please stop getting celebrities like him. He’s not helping you guys, I never saw him promote your shows on tv or even feature the group in Donita’s morning show! Overall the show was great except for a few who still needs work like the short kid with long hair. I’m looking forward to the September 15 show, and I’ll bring my friends from Teletech, Thanks!

  28. I think it’s totally unfair that my comment gets deleted while others are allowed to stay. I really do think they should read my reply. I mean, I only answered their objections. How is it possible that I can be called ‘stupid’ and I can’t even answer back? Was my reply too much? Did I use too many polysyllabic words? I’d love to know, so I can let Philip, Joey, etc. know what exactly ‘stupid’ looks like.

  29. I love this show! Great job guys!!! Most of the comedians were funny. Although it was kind of awkward that there was a magician there. I saw the poster and thought it was a stand-up comedy show. I couldn’t quite understand if he was a comedian or a magician. He was not to good in any. Although he might have just had an off night. I guess it happens. I love Stanley Chi!!! He’s a stud talaga! He is my favorite among all of them!

  30. I’m watching the Comedy Cartel’s “Laff Man Standing” show this Sept. 15 at Spicy Fingers. Whose coming with me? Hope the Cartel spews out new jokes though, along with their old reliable punchlines. Spread hilarity. Save the earth!

  31. Hey guys, the next Comedy Cartel Show, at Spicy Fingers, is this Monday Sept. 15. Show starts at 8:30PM, sharp. For ticket reservations you can call the eCircle office at 533-9316 and look for Rochelle. Thanks and hope to see you all there. “Let’s keep on touching.” MU

  32. The show last Monday (september 15) was jampacked that night! So many people really wanted to watch but unfortunately all seats were taken already.
THis made me more curious about the comedy cartel. I’ll definitely watch the Sept 29 show – i’ll try to go there earlier – 7pm! hehehe!

  33. Seven of us watched the Comedy Cartel’s show on Sept. 15. 🙂 Our other
companions were first time attendees, but my cousin and I have been fans of
the Comedy Cartel since their early days at Mag:net, at The Fort.
A stand-out for our one friend was Alex Calleja. She kept saying “Ano ba siya!!! Naiiyak na ako sa kanya!!!”
She was literally reduced to tears from laughing at the awesome Mr. Calleja’s set.
After the show, since we were on the mezzanine, where some of the comics
were hanging out, we asked them to pose for pictures with us.
They happily did so. That was very nice of them.
Another time, in August, my cousin and I watched their show, (also at Spicy Fingers) we had a foreign guest with us, who asked
for autographs from all the comics. I like that they are so accommodating toward their audience/fans. They are
    such nice guys.
We’re really looking forward to watching their next shows. 🙂
If you miss watching the Comedy Cartel, you’re missing out on half your life…the MUCH better half.

  34. Thanks guys! Watch us again at spicy fingers on Sept.29. The Following day is a Holiday(start of Ramadan) so it really won’t matter if you have to get up early. Also, The Comedy Cartel Junior Comedians will be performing at Basilio’s the fort. Feel free to watch us anytime.

  35. Comedy cartel is the solution to the country’s problems! :))
Witty, timely, relevant and definitely funny.. that’s Comedy Cartel.
Cheers to Victor Anastacio, the next big thing in stand up comedy.
Their job is no joke but their jokes are effective! haha!(labo!)
Definitely a must see for everyone! Catch them and say goodbye to your problems! 🙂
    APPLAUSE!
    BOW!

  36. the best comedianne in our family is gmmahoney pag dalaw nya at ng mga apo nya sa pasko we’ll asked her to do some small comedy acts pero syempre doon sa small town nila sa pilipinas kasi mahihiya yun pag malakihan pero boy oh boy! pag hindi kayo lahat nahulog sa upuan nyo sa katatawa eh di sagot namin lahat yung dinner nyo ‘sky is the limit dinner prices’ pa ang gagawin namin lol why? so we can get back at my sister for fun lol!

  37. Grabe Talaga. Pag-umuuwi ako sa Manila, palagi ko silang pinapanood. Ang galing talaga nila, lalo na si Victor Anastacio

  38. These guys are hilarious. Going to stand-up comedy gigs are a great way to start the night or end a stressful week. The Laffapalooza champ Victor looks very promising but his sets are short. Mike Unson is just great. Tim Tayag is, of course, a classic.
I’d love to have these guys perform in my school!

  39. i cannot forget:.. many decades ago one stormy night our little sister came home from high school lights were outs didnt realized me my other sisters were lying down the floor talking about ‘impressed’ neighborhood crushes she was hurrying inside threw her school bag right on us above us we all followed her badly ‘controlling’ her cries she stucked herself inside a small cabinet in the bathroom downstairs agonizing sobbing so we asked her to come out so we can all hug her coz that what she needed but she yelled at us asking us to leave.. go away! go away please! we told her her problem couldnt be that bad then she said yes not only bad but very bad i wanna dissappear! i do not want to go back to school! i dont want anyone to see me forever! she was so irrational so we pulled her off out of the small cabinet tell us what happened we demanded..little sister was agonizing a she spoke..i saw my first love in school break so i followed him just wanted to know who’s who is he with everyday he was with section 1 & 2 groups today even some of our neighbor was with him so later i followed him on his way to the library i couldnt resist myself wanting him to finally ‘notice’ me.. it was a ‘desperate’ move-chance for me to get to know him..so i pick up my literature ‘essay’ assignment with my name in it from my left pocket walked ahead of him dropped the ‘essay’ assignment then i nervously walked fast passed him coz he might see it as an ‘deliberate’ act so i hurried fast like a speeding bullet inside the library i kept watching them if his reading my ‘essay’ he wasnt but minutes later one of his company was reading something one of our neighbor so my first love joined him reading my essay but they were all laughing they were hysterical
i was red hot i had high fever i was nervous he was making fun of my ‘essay’ then a shocking ‘boooo’ behind me our neighbor some section 1& 2 & omg! my first love too next to me they were laughing & first love was there when our neighbor returned my essay then now i realized why they were laughing i saw the paper it wasnt my ‘essay’ assignment from my left pocket my essay assignment was in the right pocket the paper on my left was the paper list from our ‘utang’ sa tindahan ni aling juana she gave me this morning listed ‘sardinas 6 8,00 pesos katol 4 piso miswa 8 tatlong piso luya 5 piraso saging 2 dosena pakwan 2 bilog tide 9 asin gaas etc.+ tubo limang piso = lol! we were all hysterical laughing at our little sister’s problem lol!.. little sister even cried harder humiliated to her school mates & first love so we told her we still love her so no need to cry no need to hide in cabinet or wishing to dissappear coz it is no BIG DEAL little sister said.. but i wasnt crying wishing to dissapppear & hiding here under this cabinet coz of my first love.. so we asked little sister why then..little sister said coz the paper that i dropped in school this morning wasnt my literature ‘essay’ assignment our neighbor freddie picked up & gave it to his older brother later was the ‘list’ of our utang coz never had time to get the utang list back coz i ran from my own embarrassments so….oldest sister beat the kraft out of little sister then little sister ‘really’ dissappear from school for a week lol….lol!

  40. spelling police.. that is not the funniest at all just wait till gmma give us perrmission to tell her stories when she ‘studied’ arts in OIL PAINTING{gmma was the subject model lol} lol!

  41. You guys are amazing! Mike Unson is laugh out loud hilarious. Tim Tayag is great. Alex Calleja is definitely funny but I found him lacking in originality. You guys are definitely the funniest show in town! Ill be watching again in October. Please post the schedule of your October shows. Thank you and God bless the Comedy Cartel. More power to you. I Hope you guys get a TV show soon.

  42. d comedy cartel is now quasi famous! The show I watched yesterday was SRO already! even JackTV was there to cover d show!

  43. The next Mike Unson solo show at Conspiracy will be on Oct. 18, 2008 9:30PM w/ Stanley Chi, Uli Oposa, and Charms Tianzon of MATILDA. Conspiracy is located at 59 Visayas Ave., QC. See Ya!!!

  44. I like the show, most of the comedians are funny especially Tim Tayag. Mike is funny too but I find him mayabang. Some of his jokes are not original like the newscaster and the st benilde joke. Most of the comedians repeat their jokes, like for example the chinese jokes by Stanly Chi. I like the style of Ryan Puno.

  45. Please watch on Oct.18 @ Conspiracy Gardens Cafe. Mike Unson with Stanley Chi, Uli Oposa and Charms Tianzon of MATILDA. Mike Unson will be performing his ORIGINAL St.Benilde joke and Newscaster joke.

  46. I love the Comedy Cartel. Red Ollero is no doubt the funniest among all of them! Alex Calleja’s bits are similar to the jokes i’ve seen on local comic and joke books. More power to you guys!

  47. Re: Mike Unson being “mayabang.”
He’s even worse in real life. Never underestimate the arrogance of a 30 year old English-speaking Benilde graduate who lives with his parents and has no girlfriend or hasn’t held any sort of real job. His lackeys in his shows are no better too. Who’s dumber? An idiot, or those that follow him?

  48. I watched the show last Monday. Alex Calleja was very funny!!! Tim Tayag and Mike Unson are also funny. The rest, goodluck to all of them.

  49. RE: Mike Unson being mayabang
Hindi naman mayabang si Mike Unson eh. Gwapo lang. Hahahahahaha!
But I honestly find him down to earth 🙂 and hilarious! as well as Uli Oposa and Stanley Chi!

  50. Wow! It’s nice to know that there are indeed a lot of people enjoying this type of stand-up comedy. Hope we get to watch more of these shows all over the Metro. And yeah, a TV show would help. =)

  51. Howdy! Thank you to everyone who watched the show, last Monday. We really appreciate all the support. The next Spicy Fingers show will be on Oct. 27 and it’ll be covered once again by Jack TV. Just call the eCircle office at 533-93-16, and look for Rochelle, if you want to reserve tables.
Now for those of you who live up north, I’ll be having my solo-show this Saturday Oct. 18, 2008 at Conspiracy Cafe: 59 Visayas Ave., Quezon City. Show starts at 9:30PM w/ the music of Charms Tianzon (Matilda), opening acts by Uli Oposa and Stanley Chi followed by an hour of my old and new stuff. Entrance is 100Php, so hope to see you all there! Let’s keep on touching! -Mike U. 🙂

  52. I totally agree with Rada. All of them are funny but Alex Calleja is the funniest. I watched him in Magnet and now in Spicy. His jokes are in Tagalog and is very Filipino. He keeps getting better and better! I am a FAN!!!

  53. RE: Mike Unson being mayabang
Mike Unson is mayabang! Have you noticed how he walk after his introduction on stage. What a weird walk, kindda robotic.

  54. RE: Mike Unson being mayabang
Hmmm.=) I’ve met Mike Unson and he’s very nice. He made me laugh on and even offstage. It’s kinda stupid to generalize someone being mayabang because of the way he walks. But whatever!=) Mike Unson rocks!!!=) Uli Oposa’s awesome too!=) He’s doing great for a newbie!=) More power to you guys and the rest of the Comedy Cartel!=)

  55. everyone has their opinons about people. I just hope that people will stop doing personal attacks. If any of you have a problem with Mike Unson and his “Lackey’s” tell them in person. Stop being such cowards.

  56. Guys, guys, guys. Let’s stop this bicker thread. Let’s all talk about comedy and how we want it seen, done or performed here in our beloved country. That’s what this thread is for. Your opinions are resepcted, but let’s not bring hate into this positive topic. Let’s all support Philippine Comedy! =)

  57. I love the Comedy Cartel!!!!
They are different, they are fresh, they are all funny!
I will continue watching all of them
    More power!!!

  58. Im a really big fan of Stanley Chi. I watch him in Jojo A. all the way. Stanley is guy with good intentions.

  59. Stressed out? Watch comedy cartel and you’ll laugh all your problems away! These guys are just hilarious! Each one has his own unique style which makes their performances such a hit. My favorite is Victor Anastacio! Such a funny guy! He has this natural way of making the crowd laugh without much effort. So natural. Swaaaabe 😀

  61. I’ve watched some Comedy Cartel shows in Spicy Fingers. I love these guys. I was kind of disappointed though when I saw The Comedy Cartel’s Alex Calleja in DZMM’s contest wearing a gay outfit. I was a really big fan of Alex. It was just disappointing for me because the Comedy Cartel claims that they are different from the gay comedians but I guess they are just not so different after all.

  62. First of all, weearing a gay outfit doesn’t mean he’s already doing what gay comedians do. Versatility is key in being a good comedian. You should’ve finished watching the whole DZMM contest before you judge anyone who participated in it.
Second, the Comedy Cartel doesn’t make such claims of being different from the gay comedians present, but rather being a smarter alternative to what’s presently known as “stand-up comedy” today. It is their material and POV which sets them apart from the ones they are being compared with, not just the mere appearance of their performers. It is also unfair for someone to generalize the Comedy Cartel, just coz one of its members was seen performing a Comedy Sketch in the contest’s segment where he joined in. It may have been the comic’s decision to don the outfit in the said segment, ’cause he might’ve thought that such would be ironically funny, or it maybe a statement, as the said competition’s venue is known for stand-up that’s performed in that manner. If one claims to be a real fan, then one would know how to gauge and understand why things were done by the performer in the said competition. If one fails to do so, then one can’t really say that he or she is indeed a real “fan.”
Finally, if one claims to be a real fan, then fickleness and a convenient “change of mind” seems perplexing, unless this post was just made to bash the said performer, albeit in a subtle and cunning “reverse psychology” manner.

  63. Alex Calleja is so funny. He has a way of using foreign comedians jokes and putting it in local preference. Keep it up.

  64. I watched Alex Calleja in Alchemy. He is so funny. Very original specially his birthmark jokes and his ‘poor’ jokes. Very likeable on and off stage. I am one of the doctors that were watching him last Thursday. He was also the host and he was very funny too. I will definitely going to watch the comedy cartel again.

  65. Hey cherry. The Comedy Cartel will have their final show in Spicy Fingers for the year entitled “Comedy Carols and the Spicy Fingerdini” next Monday, December 15, 8 PM. It will be a 2 hours plus show, complete with comedy and video sketches, so there’ll be more performances seen from the Comedy Cartel from their usual stand-up performances. For ticket reservations, you could call 533-9316/531-6284 and look for Rochelle. Tickets are slowly selling out so its best to reserve tables ASAP. Please invite your friends so you’d enjoy one hell of a comedy show before Christmas. See you there. =)

  66. I’m watching the Comedy Cartel’s first show for the year (Year Of The Jokes Show) next Monday (Jan. 26) at the Spicy Fingers around 7:30 PM. Got my tickets by calling E-Circle Entertainment (Rochelle handles the ticket reservations) at 533-9316/5316284 or 09228596144. 73. We watched the Comedy Cartel’s show “Laughology 101” last Monday and it was such refreshing stand-up comedy show to watch. No gays (not sure if all of them are straight tho) bashing or insulting the audience, no karaoke singing and no rowdy and over-propped production numbers onstage. Jus tpure Stand-Up comedy material dished in front of a listening crowd. We were looking for this kind of show ever since we’ve discovered great performances by Jerry Seinfeld, Dave Chappelle etc. both in youtube and cable TV and we’re happy that such a performing group already exists here in the Phils. More power to you guys and we’d watch your next show again on June 29 at Spicy Fingers. Keep our tummies aching with so much laughter! =)
