Philippine Travel Fair Tips

The Philippine Travel Fair is the Best Domestic Travel Fairs in the country where you can find cheap tickets, very good deals from airline, hotels, and resorts. All of the major tourist destinations in the country are represented in this travel fair. It is usually held around September and this year it happens Sept. 12-14, 2008 in Megatrade Hall in Megamall.

Here are some tips to maximize your P50 entrance fee to this travel fair:

1. Decide on the places you want to go for vacation next year in the Philippines. Prioritize going to the booth of the places you want to visit. You can already get all the travel information you need to plan your vacation next year. The resorts offer as much as 20-50% discounted rates depending on the destination. There is a lot of clutter in the trade fair and you will be confused if you don’t have a set destination in mind.

2. Leverage expert travel resources in the travel fair to enhance your travel research. I’m planning a trip to Anini-Y and Butuan/ Surigao del Sur at the end of the month. Most of the local travel tourism officers are in the travel fair. I was able to do my research in less than 1 hours. I also was able to establish connections with the local people in that place.

3. Benchmark Travel Packages. I’m exploring the possibility of creating the best travel packages to certain destinations and offer it in OAP. It is easy to do a national benchmark of all the travel packages from different travel operators. Most people would collect all of the brochures and marketing materials from the different booths.

4. Best time to go is when the travel fair opens. Allot 3 hours just to go around the entire travel fair.

5. Reward the best booth by voting with your sticker. There is a competition for best booth that is why most of the booths are creative and done well. You can vote by putting your sticker on the booth that you like.

I was a bit disappointed that most of the deals are for travel during the off peak season and before the year ends. I was expecting to find a travel package offer that I can’t resist but it failed to meet my expectation. For those who went to the travel fair, can you share the best deal you bought in the travel fair?

Don’t forget to vote for the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park and get a chance to win in their raffle at the end of the year.

  1. I was at the travel fair too yesterday and noticed pretty much the same thing you did. What I didn’t like though was space management. It was very cramped. The smell of cooking food and the crowd did not make a good combination at the other side of the hall. I avoided it totally and kept to the nice smelling part the whole time. Maybe it would be a good idea to just separate the food items in another hall with exhaust or ask merchants to refrain from cooking in the premises.

  2. ….lol yes someone should have thought about those food must have separate areas “no one” even i would’nt DARE spent minutes anywhere if just in case I am wearing a designer clothings those kinds that sometimes costed 1,000,00 u.s.dollars for a skirt & another 50,000,00 to 100,000,00 ppesos for a top or your hair & body just done for an intimate appointments later lol!….anyway this is what most FUTURE travelling customers-viewers like me wants to know-see in a travel blog info:

  3. Wow! Are you guys coming to my city? I live in Butuan. Which hotel are you going to stay? I would recommend Dotties or Almont Inland. You can stay at Dotties and go swimming at Almont Inland resort. Then, eat at Margie’s for the cakes- we love nelusco, cookie monster, food for the gods and brownie thins. If you guys love badminton, there are many badminton areas in Butuan at a way cheaper rate than in Manila.
For Surigao, drop by lake mainit to just take in the beauty of a serene lake. Don’t forget to visit the market for very fresh and cheap seafoods.
Sorry for my unsolicited advice. I’m too excited for you! Have fun!

  4. we love to go places but the question is are your provincial towns safe from crimes? do you have clean rest rooms with toilet papers & plush toilets? do your beaches street sidewalks has public benches that do not will not ‘stained’ our clothes? do you have many trees along your streets so when it rains or too hot{sun exposures}we have trees to comfort us in our fun travels? are your water in public restaurants faucets safe to used to drink? are your hotels bed & breakfast inns very cleaned sanitized maintained-manage well to meet hundreds if not thousands of visitors in case of sudden one week ends poured of tourists guests in your provincial towns?
