Heavenly Chocolates

Hot Dark Chocolate Drinks 5oz (P80)

We literally closed our eyes when we tasted the Ecuador Hot Chocolate Drink of Heavenly Chocolates. This new chocolate haven is teaching the foodies in Manila on how to enjoy cocoa from different origins (similar to wines). We fell in love with the strong full bodied Ecuador and we would recommend this for all chocoholics out there. For Aidan, we ordered the chocolate from Ghana which offers a smoother taste.

Flavor Guide to Cacao Origins
ECUADOR – Strong and intense, full-bodied, bitter, hint of smoky notes. For true-blue chocoholics.
GHANA – Smooth, rounded, uncomplicated. Well-received in Japan and Korea, and by children too.
IVORY COAST – Rich cocoa with a nutty flavor. Provides more than a third of world’s cocoa bean supply.
MADAGASCAR – Unique and exotic, with distinct fruity notes of raisins. Avaiable on Seasonal Basis
PERU – A Mild cocoa delicate floral notes, with a background of dry flowers. Currently in limited supply worldwide.

1 pack of Ecuador chocolate (P175). It was so good that we decide to buy our own Ecuador chocolate buttons so that we can enjoy the hot chocolate at home. We know that this pack could easily serve 5 cups.

Recipe for Hot Chocolate:
110 ml of Anchor Milk Chocolate
40-55g of chocolate origin buttons (with a scoop serving as big as the one above)
whipped cream (optional)

In a small saucepan, heat the milk until it just begins to simmer. Remove the pan from heat and whisk in the chocolate buttons until melted. Pur hot chocolate drink to a cup and top with tablespoon of whipped cream.

I’m tempted to try my own chocolate fountain fondue at home. They sell unique chocolate stuff mostly coming from Singapore.

The ambiance is simple and we were disappointed that they were not able to execute a “heavenly” ambiance. The signage is not well lighted and it looks like an ordinary chocolate place.

You can have a free taste of Sachi Nama chocolates!

Sachi is similar to the more popular Royce Nama Chocolates and it has the same melt-in-your-mouth experience. I can’t really taste the difference from Royce. If you buy one, you can only travel with it for 30-60 minutes without refrigeration. Unfortunately, they don’t have dry ice which they would give you when you buy Royce in Singapore.

Could this be the start of the Chocolate Craze in the Philippines?

The facade looks dilapidated and I wonder where are the pearly gates? I’m not surprised that they are not able to attract the crowd from Taste of L.A. Despite this, I highly recommend their hot chocolate!

  1. Haha, we beat you there Anton. 🙂 was here 2 weeks ago. Did you try the chocolate pasta? it’s crazy but it’s good! I agree that their place looks so-so, we had trouble finding it even.

  2. I saw this shop 2 weeks ago. I agree that the facade is so-so… talk about not judging a book, in this case a store, by its facade. But sprucing it up a bit won’t hurt.
Sachi nama chocolates for 350 bucks! wow! will try this since you said you couldn’t taste the difference from Royce. Does sachi nama contain liquer din? Royce is available at konbini store at connecticut for 620 bucks a box.

  3. for their products na mukhang quality naman, they seem to have picked the wrong location. where in roces are they? nearer morato or nearer QA?

  4. Yay! You went there! Last Saturday, Dex and I had dinner in Belissimo then went to Heavenly Chocolate! I got to meet Elaine and I really love how open and unassuming she is. Medyo kulang pa sila sa panache that most chocolatiers /chocolate shops would have, but their chocolate holds much promise. Kailangan lang nila ng konti pang “yabang”. : )

  5. Hi! Can someone kindly post a map going to the place. I’m not familiar with the QC area and I’d like to go to Heavenly Chocolates 🙂

  6. we tried the hot chocolate last monday, and for me, it’s good. but i won’t be going back again because the waiters (there were 2 at the time) who attended to us rendered service rather poorly. i have to ask all questions to them, and when you don’t talk to them, they won’t say a word to you. plus, i had my hot chocolate in a take out cup, and they discouraged it. but since i insisted, they obliged, but they did not give me the free chocolate, coz they said it’s only for dine-in…i paid for the hot chocolate, and they did not even bother giving me any receipt!! i was in too much of a hurry that i did not fuss over it…but really, the customer service sucks!

  7. We had the same Bellissimo + Heavenly Chocolate food trip. =) We only had pasta at Bellissimo though, to make room for the chocolates! I really like the Mexican Mocha and my officemate gave a thumbs up on their hot chocolate. And the Sachi Nama chocolate is heaven!

  8. chocoholic,
coming from tomas morato, turn into roces. It’s just a few meters from morato. that same corner block.
I agree, the place doesn’t have the “look”. very stark white. warmer colors on the walls would do better. and perhaps, a wider selection of food items. the service was good, if a tad slow.
I was there with some friends last weekend. I had the ivory coast, it was VERY good!

  9. i agree with sheryl…the waiters (esp. the thin one who doesn’t look at you when he talks to you) were terrible…couldn’t describe any of the drinks properly!!!
the Marula drink was really good, but this place lacks ambiance of any kind.
and there is a big difference between Royce and their nama!
