Atalyer’s Bento Box 2009 aka Bento9

Personally, the Atalyer’s Bento Box is the winner of the Battle of the 2009 planners. I like its nationalistic concept, its message of encouragement, hope, change and its Pinoy design. The only turn-off is that the Atalyer logo is prominently printed all over the stationery set like it was an Atalyer giveaway.

Bento9 contains a stationery set, which includes:

  • Three values cards with “Believe”, “Why Not?” and “Passion & Purpose” message
  • 19 full-color Filipino stickers
  • 12 full-color Filipino Flair notecards with envelopes
  • 12-full color Ermita coasters
  • 12 full-color Sticky Match Pads
  • Four Chief notepads
  • Calendar of 12 Reasons Why Life in the Philippines is Great
  • Notebook

Limited Edition Starbucks Coffee 2009 Planner

Most people don’t like the Starbucks planner this year. It is a thin, handy and hard-bound book. You can choose from three colors (red, black and blue). It comes with a Starbucks pen and a Starbucks bookmark.

You need a total of sixteen (16) stickers, one sticker for any of the featured products in each category , to get one (1) Limited Edition Starbucks Coffee 2009 Planner.

The Holiday featured beverages require 8 stickers and a choice of any of the following:
1. Dark Cherry Mocha (hot, iced or Frapuccino blended beverages)
2. Toffee Nut Latte (hot, iced or Frapuccino blended beverages)
3. Praline Mocha (hot, iced or Frapuccino blended beverages)

The remaining 8 stickers can be collected with the purchase of other Starbucks beverages of your choice.

Promo ends on January 6, 2009.

The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf Giving Journal

The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf (CBTL) Journal is a plain notebook with different covers from the artworks of renowned artists like Riel Hilario (Whatever Happened to Pygmalion and Galatea),
Christina Quisumbing Ramilo (Madre Simula-BIRTH), Augusto Albor
(Temperature), and Jose Tence Ruiz (Mana: TAKBU).

After you collect 12 stamps for 12 drinks, CBTL will not
only make a donation under your name for your chosen charity, but will
also give you this “Giving Journal”. I like CBTL’s effort of putting the advertising money to support charities instead of creating a better planner. Most people love the concept but still wish CBTL would have added more design in the pages of the journal or used recycled paper instead.

Coffee Bean commits to donate in your name to the following charities:

* Kababaihan Gabay sa Bayan (KAGABAY): P600 per child for kids’ education needs
* The Restorative Justice Program of Caritas Manila: P1,000 for values formation classes and materials per school year per inmate
* The Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS): medicine for animals under their care
* Bahay Tuluyan: a birthday present per child worth P250
* Haribon: adoption of a seedling
* Cartwheel Foundation: P8,000 for educational materials, curriculum development, tuition, teacher training for each student per school year
* Kythe: an unforgettable kids’ outing
* Autism Society Philippines (ASP): P2,000 for books needed by children to study
* Philippine Cerebral Palsy, Inc.: P1,800 per month per patient for medicine and rehabilitation
* Philippine Band of Mercy (PBM): P8,000 for the operation of each child
* Resources for the Blind: P1,000 for Braille textbooks
* Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP): medical consultation worth P200 for a child

If you donate to all 12 charities, you get a one-year supply of brewed coffee for FREE.

  1. On the Atalyer Planner, you can contact them directly to order your bento9. You would have to pick it up from their office.
On the Amore Planner, I heard you have to eat in one of the Bistro Group restaurant like Italiannis or Fridays. You have to eat a minimum of P2,000 (for example) and you get it for free. I’m not sure if the promo is still on.

  2. i honestly think the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf notebook is SUCH AN INSULT to the artists. Fine, the charity side of it is more than GREAT. (let me make that clear, lest people think I am missing the point of the fund raising program)
but as a regular customer of CBTL I was so surprised to just see THUMBNAILS of the artworks on the notebooks.
THUMBNAILS?!?!?! who made that genius decision huh?! 2 thumbnails per cover at that. THUMBNAILS?! Bad design call, Mr.Decision Maker.

  3. wow, i didn’t know that my step dad’s work made it into the CBTL planner. will have to ask him how he feels about the “thumbnail” art as commented by z.
Anyway, the planners are all beautiful! I have the red starbucks planner though (lovingly sent to me from the Philippines) The starbucks here does not have a planner promo. boo.

  4. I still love my Jollibee 2008 Planner. It was the cheapest of all the resto/coffeeshop planners and it had sufficient space for every day of the year. Unfortunately, Jollibee is not producing a 2009 planner. Grrr! Anyway, has anyone seen the “This Journal Will Actually Change Your Life” Planner? This planner comes second for me. It has enough space for every day of the year and it actually talks about you as a person. Check it out. It’s a bit pricey but it is a nice planner (compared to the pricey Starbucks planner). I think it is being sold in Powerbooks and Fully Booked. FYI, I loved the Starbucks 2008 not the 2009 design.

  5. Oh by the way, regarding the “This Journal Will Actually Change Your Life” planner is sold for P720 in Powerbooks and Fully Booked. What’s good about this is a portion of the sales will go to a charitable institution.

  6. No coffee shop planners for me, I don’t to have the same planner as everybody’s. I’m getting the Left-Hander’s Journal 2009. Oopps, maybe I shouldn’t have said that. 😀

  7. Amore Planner is also available in Holiday Bazaar in World Trade Center. There are lots of freebies like pasta pot, japanese menu book, lunch bag etc…. I remembered its the stall where they sell laptop sleeves.

  8. Hi,
I have a nice planner too for 2009.. check out belle de jour planner, I bought mine for php 500 something at a bazaar in makati

  9. yup Belle de Jour is nice. I have mine as well. I started using it since 2007. check it out in Power books. They sell it at around Php 595.00, if i am not mistaken.

  10. Thanks for the heads up. I’m disappointed Seattle’s Best isn’t coming out with anything this year, but I think I might be interested in Coffee Bean’s notebook. I’ve never actually liked Starbucks’, except for the first year they came out with it that I unfortunately wasn’t able to get. I’m now using Waterfront Hotel’s planner this year that a friend gave me.

  11. you can get the amore planner with a minimum purchase of P500 and if you order the chicken steak something, sorry i cant remember the exact dish. 🙂

  12. i have the Amore Planner! got it for free with the Kitchen Adventure Club of Clara Ole. 🙂 yey! so excited to fill this planner with recipes. a must-have for foodiessssss. 🙂

  13. i got a 2009 Jollibee planner (green, paperback, pages held by staples) free with a min bill of P350 in south luzon :)) like starbucks, Jollibee downgraded this year :))
