DIY Frozen Yogurt and Fresh Orange Juice

By

My sister-in-law, Clauds, suggested this foodie trick of putting yogurt in the freezer to create your own Frozen Yogurt version. 🙂

Rezza of Smart suggested that the best variant for DIY Frozen Yogurt is to use the Nestle Sweetened Yogurt plain version. I would have to agree. You have to thaw it for a few minutes before enjoying your own frozen yogurt.

Another favorite is the freshly squeezed orange juice of Del Monte, which you can find in most supermarkets. The oranges are literally squeezed in front of you with a machine juicer. You can request to include the juicy bits of orange or you can just have it plain. It actually tastes like concentrated sweet orange. We usually add water or ice to the juice to prolong it.
Can you share your own foodie trick or supermarket finds?

  1. I’ve been freezing the Pascual yogurt for some years now, best to use the regular full cream yogurts for this, the low fat varieties don’t freeze as well, turns watery. Also, as the summer season approaches, start freezing fruits like grapes, mangoes, bananas. On horribly hot days or nights, they make for the best smoothies, without the addition of ice. Or munch on the frozen grapes like candy 🙂

  2. What I love is Nestle’s Juicy Yogurt in Mesmerizing Mango. I can enjoy the goodness of the yogurt and mango juice. I haven’t seen Del Monte’s Freshly Squeezed Orange Juice the last time I went to the grocery though.

  4. I’ve been freezing nestle’s strawberry yogurt since they came out… especially good during hot summer days. Add a banana and a splash of milk or orange juice to a cup of crushed frozen tub in a blender makes for a great breakfast smoothie!
A carton of milk expiring soon (supermarket sales?) or days old leftover milk gets turned into yogurt. Just stir in a tub of unsweetened yogurt with the milk in a glass bottle, cover with a clean hanky and leave on the counter for a day or two (or barely simmer, but do not boil, the milk on the stove first on cold days before adding yogurt). Flavor at whim! (there maybe a watery (whey?) substance separating on top, I just stir it back. As they say, dairy products don’t go bad, they just turn from one dairy product to another.

  5. @ bexie…. i get my del monte freshly squeezed OJ supply from Rustan’s Fresh, Rockwell. I heard there’s one in Unimart.

  6. looks yummy! my yogurt fix is always either nestle’s 0% fat yogurt drink or nestle’s fruit selection. yogurt is healthy so i try to get my yogurt fix regularly.will try this one soon. 🙂

  7. been freezing Dutchmill yoghurt drinks since they launched in the market. the boys and i love having them for dessert. i’d also mix them with oatmeal for breakfast instead of milk… yummy! =)

  8. wow love to try that one with the yogurt. i don’t know if you’ve tried this one but i made a refrigerator cake (using graham crackers) using 2 nestle all purpose cream and 1 small can condense milk. However, the presentation did not turn out well but the taste of the all purpose cream and condense milk when mixed together and been frozen was an instant ice cream. My family actually loved it 🙂

  9. Hi! I’m a yogurt lover too! And infact just bought myself the biggest Nestlè yogurt sold.
I’m just curious, does freezing a yogurt kill its essense which is the live good bacteria?
Response would be highly appreciated. Thank you!:)
