Ultimate Taste Test Event

Thanks to all those who attended the 1st Ultimate Taste Test Event! Overall, it was a success because it was rated 4.3 in the survey between “4 rating- I Love It!” and “5 rating – Awesome! I would recommend it!” We also learned a lot from this experimental event on what people like about it and how we can improve it further.

Here are some of the comments we received about the event:

“Love that it’s an informal, mingling event where people hop from one station to another & getting to know home chefs and bakers.”

“It was a success, maybe we could have another one…”

“Wonderful! Hope you can organize another one soon! Many thanks for a great time!!!”

And yes, we are organizing another one soon in August/ Early September. πŸ™‚Β

To all Food Suppliers: Please email Rache if you want to participate in the next event — rache@diaz.ph/ rachediaz@gmail.com. Kindly indicate the food product you want to showcase and its story.

To all Interested Foodies: Please wait for the FINAL DATE/ VENUE of the next Ultimate Food Taste Test Event before sending Rache an email since the date and venue are vital in your decision to attend the event. πŸ™‚

As much as she would like to receive a text from all of you, she will ONLY consider you and respond through email for easier handling of participants and for documentation purposes.

The event officially started at 11.30am and lasted until past 2pm. We charged a fee for adults and kids. The proceeds of the event went to the construction of St. Michael Church in Fort Bonifacio.

The host of the Ultimate Taste Test Event was no other than Ivan Man Dy of Old Manila Walks fame.

One of the things that we learned was how to introduce the food stations properly before opening them for tasting.Β There was chaos when people already started eating while Ivan was introducing all the stations.Β

People were raving about how Ivan hosted the event like a mini-food tour.

Together with my two kids, I personally welcomed all our foodie friends, neighbors and family who attended the event. πŸ™‚ There were about 100+ foodies there. We hope to be able to increase it to about 500+ and still make it a community foodie event. πŸ™‚

We arranged the stations according to courses — appetizers, main dishes and desserts. Next time, we will locate the appetizers near the main entrance and cordon off the main dish and desserts first so that we can do a program first.

Food is served as a tasting portion and it is not intended to be an eat-all-you-can event. πŸ™‚

One Food Supplier got an overall rating of 4.6 — all the people were raving about their Beef Short Ribs, Wagyu Tri-Tips, Pork Belly, and Korean Red Rice salad with Seared Tuna! All the other suppliers got 3.7 ratings and below…

Having Lechon in an event is always a hit, so we will make sure to have one lechon supplier next time. It was amazing that the skin of the Lechon remained crispy throughout that time.

There was a good range of desserts for tasting, from cupcakes, brownies, sansrival, bread pudding to Kefir ice cream. We advise food suppliers next time to make the portions smaller so that people can taste all of the desserts. πŸ™‚

We only had chairs at that time and people found it very difficult to eat. We will probably provide cocktail tables next time around…

It was a good way to meet foodie people and to be a food critic for one day. πŸ™‚

The event was open to all people of all ages with a common passion for discovering good food. πŸ™‚

It was great to see foodies who joined our Ultimate Philippines Tours before. πŸ™‚

Thanks to my super wife Rache, who coordinated the entire event with the Food Suppliers, Foodies and the Logistics Provider!

And with that, I’ll share with you the Top 5 food discoveries that most people were raving about in the next few posts…

  1. wow!!! congratulations πŸ˜€ this seemed like a lot of fun! how can interested “testers” join the event? is this by invite only? thanks anton!

  2. Well it is not really a by invitation event… The first event was a bit experimental so we did not really invite. People just came to the event …

We will open the registration on a first come first serve basis next time. We believe that everyone is a foodie πŸ™‚Β

We are setting a fee for the event about P150-P200 per head and P50-P75 for kids next time where the proceeds go to the construction of St. Michael Church.
