Ang saWRAP by Minnie Puno

ULTIMATE TASTE TEST 2.0 RATING: 3.6 out of 5.0

Most health-conscious foodies loved Minnie’s saWraps, especially the prawns and smoked fish. Each one is wrapped individually with care and style that sometimes you just want to look at it and appreciate it. Some suggested that it would be better to have the sauce inside instead of on top, while others found it an ordinary concept.

Minnie joined most of our culinary tours, and she is a certified foodie who knows how to create yummy food and present it appetizingly. In Legaspi market, she sells her Minnie Mousse signature desserts, which made her famous in 2007. She is also popular for her Asian Wraps (Thai Chicken Wrap – the best seller, Crabstick-Mayo, and Chicken & Pork Adobo) and Vietnamese rolls with chili bean sauce.

When people ask us for recommendations for a merienda caterer for parties, we usually recommend Minnie Puno. Check it out…

Ang saWRAP
by Minnie Puno

I was born into a family with culinary genes.  While not everyone in my grandmother’s family of twelve siblings could cook (including herself), my mother — being an only child — luckily inherited the genes. And among my four siblings, I was the only one showered with such genes.  As a child, I was my mother’s holiday kitchen helper.

Although I have had no formal culinary training, I have attended one-off cooking classes from a few well-known local chefs. I also had the opportunity to attend classes in Saigon and in Tuscany.

In December of 2006, I introduced a small line of miniature desserts, including flavored coffee cupcakes, petite cheesecakes and my signature dessert, “Minnie Mousse” – a liqueur-based mini chocolate mousse on a graham cracker crust.  While still maintaining a home-based business, I joined the Baker’s Fair and the Holiday Food Festival in 2007, where Minnie Mousse was selected as one of 12 favorite Christmas bazaar treats. In the same year, it was also recognized as one of 10 great restaurants and desserts for Mother’s Day by food blogger Lori Baltazar. While Minnie Mousse was still chosen as one of Spot’s 13 Dessert Finds at the Manila launch of the Asian Food Channel in 2008, I introduced “ang saWRAP” — this time, a line of wraps and rolls. First seen at the Rockwell Sunday Souk and then at the Pink Kitchen, they are now slowly gaining popularity at the Legaspi Sunday Market.
