Cosmic Kidz, The Biggest Playground in Manila

Kids Universe is the “Fun Ranch” innovation of SM Malls. It is the latest kiddie place that opened in time for the Christmas season in SM Mall of Asia. With the World Pyro Olympics being postponed to early next year, there is really no other “new” place to go with your kids. There’s no new Carnival or visiting exhibits like the Dinosaurs last year (except for the traveling Big Blue Whale Exhibit in Ayala Malls).

One of the reasons you might want to consider visiting Kids Universe is that it houses Cosmic Kidz, the biggest Kiddie Play Area in Manila — about 4 stories high. I’ll give you a photo tour of the place so that you can use it to share stories with your kids. Also, I’ll share with you potential dining options around the area.

Cosmic Kidz

A huuuuuuge high-end play area for kids and kids-at-heart.

First Floor, Cosmic Kidz

The first floor is really for young children less than 3 years old, like Joshua.

Plasma Pool. It has a tarpaulin cover and lighting underneath it. The kids love jumping on this pool but it is not allowed. It is really for babies or toddlers.

Spectrum Crossing. It is like a water boat on land, and it moves up and down.

Wave Rider. A slide with a waterfall effect.

Ground Control. A kiddie game where you have to shoot the balls into a funnel.

Sling Shot. It actually revolves around its axis, and kids can sit and sway with it.

Potty Pod for Kids only. There is a restroom outside Cosmic Kidz.

A photo of the huge cushioned stairs going up to the second floor.

Second Floor, Cosmic Kidz

The second floor is devoted to imported Comfy Interactive Educational Toys.

Airballs. A play area with balloons that move up and down.

Orbits. A play area with soft, white balls.

A mini merry-go-round with different animals.

Apollo Climber. You can go up to the third floor via this route.

Third Floor, Cosmic Kidz

The third floor is where the fun begins for kids and adults as well.

Wormhole. Similar to the Apollo Climber, but this is located on the other side.

HyperSlide. It is very, very steep and a bit unsafe. You can get your skin burned if it comes in contact with the slide while on your way down. Not recommended for toddlers.

Space Web. (Not really sure how this works…)

Gaming Cannon Area. This is the “battle zone,” where the soft balls land after being shot from the cannons on the upper floor.

You can go up to the fourth floor through the two Rocket Booster areas.

Fourth Floor, Cosmic Kidz

Gaming Cannons. Here, you can shoot soft balls straight into the Gaming Cannon area.

Depending on your technique, the balls could hit the cannons on the other side.

There is a tunnel leading to the highest point of Cosmic Kidz.

Here is a side view of the Cosmic Kidz play area, where you can see that red tunnel above, leading to the highest point.

Inside the helicopter cockpit. 🙂

An outside view of the cockpit. The entire structure is as tall as Mall of Asia.

Kids Universe Shops

Cosmic Kidz is the centerpiece of Kids Universe and it is surrounded by different kiddie shops.

Astrokidz Shop

Ben 10 Merchandise Store

X-rider 4D Simulation Ride

Toy Kingdom

Sanrio and Friends Store

Dining Options

On the second floor, you might want to try the first store of Chicago Popcorn Shop, which is similar to Garrett’s, Oprah’s favorite popcorn. They use real cheese in their popcorn.

The Creamery from Nestle in Quezon City transferred to the Kids Universe. They now use Selecta Ice Cream instead of Nestle. We did not like the food (maybe because they are just in their soft opening phase?) This is a good place to hold a small kiddie party because of the dancing waiters (…and if you are not that particular with the food).

Check out the Menu: Menu 1 (top), Menu 1 (bottom), Menu 2 (top), Menu 2 (bottom)

I’ve been curious about the Japanese-Korean Buffet Yakimix. Their first store is along Diosdado Macapagal Blvd and the second one is in Mall of Asia, near Kids Universe. It is located on the ground floor, facing San Miguel by the Bay. On a weekday, this is the only place that is full and with a long waiting line.

(Have you tried it? Any review on Yakimix?)

There are ice cream shops in the area. Kids Universe is sponsored by Selecta.

I would actually recommend walking all the way down to the front of Mall of Asia (also in the South Wing) to get a taste of Coney Island Ice Cream (now rebranded as Go Nuts Ice Cream).

  1. For me, ok ang Yakimix. Daming pagkain dito grabe. For 550 a person buffet you get a sushi station, a small salad station, ready to eat Japanese food, a sukiyaki soup station, dessert station (ice creamswith toppings, cakes, fruits), and of course the bbq station. Each table is equipped with its own smokeless grill. Add 60 ata and you get bottomless drinks. Good times!
My cousin owns the Chicago Style Popcorn in MOA. He’s really from Chicago and imported all the equipments here to give us a taste of the real Chicago style popcorn. Wanna do a feature on him?

  2. I’m looking forward to the opening of Kidzania here in the Philippines. I don’t know if you’ve heard of it. And I don’t know why I’m looking forward to it either, because sadly I’m too old to play.
Anyway Kidzania is a city for kids, where they can play different professions (from a chocolate maker to a pilot) and earn money for it in the form of Kidzos (the local currency).
My 5-year old niece enjoyed it very much when we visited Jakarta (http://www.kidzania.co.id/ver2), and I’m thinking your kids will enjoy it too. 🙂

  3. Yakimix has a branch in Tomas Morato as well. I believe it just opened recently. We wanted to try it one Sunday lunch (a few weeks ago) but it was packed. Waiting list was quite long too.

  4. nice shots anton 😉 am glad your kids had fun. i already talked to kidzania long before cosmic kidz, its waaaaaaayyy too expensive ahahahah. 😉

  5. Actually ActiveFun which is nearby on Macapagal and beside the first Yakimix has a larger play frame and is much better value. Btw parking is easier and free.

  6. For Yakimix, our company’s top management and officers once had their lunch there.. about two weeks ago (sabit ako kasi ako nagplace ng reservation) ..sulit na sulit yung P499 eat/drink-all-you-can! sushi bar plus about twenty types of maki, about twenty types of marinated meats and seafood for smokeless grill, salad bar, noodles and soup, chinese dishes and tempura (para sa mga hindi ma-take ang japanese food), ice cream and dessert station.. medyo na-off lang ako nung makita ko yung Goldilocks logo dun sa cake, kaya pala familiar yung taste nung ibang desserts.. and the ice cream station – Selecta! ..pero okay na rin! We went back to office sooooo full!
    P 499 Lunch / Eat and Drink-all-you-can
    P 580 Dinner / Eat-all-you-can plus P 55 Drink-all-you-can
    yun lang!

  15. Manila Ocean Park would be a good alternative don't you think? Another suggestion would be the Laser Tag adventures in Market Market or other Malls…

  16. hi.. can i link this blog post to my site. you have a very detailed review of the place and i would really love to share it with my friends…
    Thank you in advance…

  17. I am not sure how old this article is, but we went to visit and the place looks nothing like this. It is old and most things are broken. The plasma pool doesnt work, neither did that space car or the canon game area. None of the electronics or things moving. It was quite disappointing and I think if a place like this is going to not keep things working then they should consider lowering the entry fee. Have made an updated blog on this at http://travelwithbender.com/

  18. Parents… please don’t let your child to play in the huge inflatable playpen inside SM MOA Music activity center near bayside, they allow parent/s to enter the playpen..

COSMIC KIDS.. SAYANG PERA LNG..

  21. Hello! Until now po ba same p din ung sorroundings sa cosmic po? Recommended p din po b xa para sa mga kids?tia
