Marcia Adams’ Tuscany

On New Year’s eve, we decided to escape the noise and pollution of Manila and spent it in Tagaytay. We had an afternoon merienda in one of Tagaytay’s latest garden restaurants — Marcia Adams’ Tuscany. We’d like to credit this discovery to Metro Magazine, which featured this place in its November issue.

Ever since that article came out, the owners started to open the venue to friends of friends until they fully opened this January. (You can probably say you’re a friend of OAP. 🙂 ) Thanks to Marge for introducing and treating us to this place. 🙂

Here is a photo essay of how we celebrated the last day of 2009 in Marcia Adams’ Tuscany place:

Aidan is always happy to go on out-of-town trips and considers every place that he goes to as a playground. His favorite is the staircase. 🙂

The entire family unanimously decided we didn’t want to spend New Year’s eve inhaling smoke and the pollution, so last-minute arrangements were made (as usual) to book our Tagaytay accommodations.

Bundaberg Ginger Beer from Australia (P85). Marcia prepared a refreshing concoction using fresh cucumber, carrots, pineapple and Bundaberg’s Ginger beer. Most of the girls did not like it, but I’ve loved Ginger Beer ever since I got introduced to it at Zenses.

Lemon Lime Bitters (P85). The girls preferred this drink, which is becoming the signature drink at Marcia’s.

Bundaberg “Peachee” brewed peach, slightly sparkling, from Australia (P85).
Marcia and Neil Adams love the Bundaberg Australian beers. I love this “brewed”, non-alcoholic peach drink. You have to tip it over first before opening it because some of the peach sediments settle at the bottom of the bottle.

I did not see this in the ala carte menu, but this is a simple appetizer of jam with cheese on thin wafers.

Homemade Hummus with Tortilla (P110). Hummus with green and spicy mix.

It’s OK, nothing special.

This is the main dining area of Marcia’s (a.k.a. Marcia Adams’ or Tuscany). At the moment, the couple is still pondering what to call the place. Marcia’s sounds like Antonio’s or Sonya’s, so their friends suggested that they include her last name in the mix. Metro Magazine branded it as Little Tuscany Place in Tagaytay.

If you look through the window from the main dining area, you’ll see the open home kitchen.

Just a few interesting facts about Marcia: She is passionate about cooking although she has no formal culinary background. She loves Vietnamese cuisine but had to serve Mediterranean food to complement their nice Tuscan-inspired garden ambiance.

Marcia Adams a la Carte Menu
Starters, Salads, and Soup, Dips & Side Dishes | Pasta/ Couscous/ Rice, Stews | Kebabs (2 sticks), Grilled Meats and Patties, Desserts | Drinks, Freshly Made Fruit Drinks, Hot Beverages, Wines, Beers, Spirits | Wine List December ’09

Neil Adams’ Freshly Baked Bread. He uses a different and higher quality kind of flour to produce his favorite chewy type of bread.

Aegean Salad (P260). A feast of flavors and textures with grilled pears, mixed greens, grilled ricotta cheese, cottage cheese and roasted pistachios with a herby, tangy dressing.

Nothing beats fresh Tagaytay greens with their signature dressing of (straw- or rasp-?) berry vinaigrette with honey. I liked the sweetness of the grilled pears and ricotta cheese.

Marcia recommended her Gourmet Kamote salad for our next visit.

Marcia with her lovely daughters, Aidan’s playmates for that day.

Ai Funghi (P270). Pasta with mixed fresh mushrooms, basil and garlic.

A simple pasta dish that was made great by the fresh mushrooms. My mom loved it.

Grilled Aromatic Pork (P250 – Tortilla, P260 – Pita, P270 – Organic Rice, or P290 – with Couscous/Pilaf).

Moist, tender, very tasty.

A still-undeveloped open garden area…

My favorite part of the place — the sunset lounge!

Try to reserve the sunset lounge, especially if you plan to eat here until dinnertime.

The only downside is that there are a lot of mosquitoes from 5-7pm. Bring an insect repellent lotion (we use the one from Ilog Maria).

This is the sunset lounge during the magic hour — within 30 minutes after sunset.

Don’t forget to capture nice portraits for you, your family and barkada

The famed “blue moon” that appeared on New Year’s Eve. 🙂

  1. ANG GANDA! Parang wala ka sa Pilipinas 🙂 I think that’s why they coined it Little Tuscany Place 🙂 Hindi pa ako nakakapunta ng Tuscany so I cannot vouch if it does feel like being in Tuscany. Hehehe.
Nice the picture with Aidan and Marcia’s daughter. If they end up together in the far far future, I would caption it as “Childhood Sweethearts at Play” But let’s not go there just yet 🙂 Hihihi
But I think I would be going there with Dodong very soon 🙂 The sunset is something we both would enjoy

  2. I love ginger beer and lemon lime bitter and the place looks serene 😀 I might just try this out soon with my family, my birthday’s coming up haha!
I’d like to caption the pic as: “The boat is sinking, group yourselves into two! Josh:But I don’t know how to count yet!”
cheers and happy new year to oap 😀

  3. We were in Tagaytay too during the New Year. We stayed in Potter’s Ridge, and I blogged about it too, but I’m afraid my pics aren’t as awesome as yours.:) In Tagaytay, no matter where you stay, the cool, fresh wind blowing in your face is the most priceless thing.:)

  4. For some reason, I remember the ‘Dubai’ movie when I look at the picture! Haha.
Suggested caption: Love through the eyes of the innocent.

  5. Caption: I got your girl. That reminds me of my 2 little boys trying to win the neighbors little girls heart. Sweet and romantic yet very innocent.

  6. Thanks for the post! Saw the moon on the drive back from EK, but was unable to stop for a photo shoot – it was an awesome sight though! I suggest: Let’s explore! (Personally, Joshua looks more unsure, than slighted.)

  7. Went here yesterday! Loved the food, place and meeting Marcia! Sharing stories at the lounge after our lunch was an added bonus! Once again, thanks for sharing this, I wouldn’t have discovered the place nor meet Marcia if it wasn’t for your blog!

  8. i didn’t know that the restaurant is already open, i thought they just have a lot of visitor’s everyday.. i work near this place… and the couple ate in my previous bed and breakfast employer…

  9. Can you still drop by the place without a reservation or is that policy strictly implemented. Thanks!

  10. Hey Anton! This is awesome!
You know, I really don’t like it when I get unnecessary stuff in my mail. That’s why I don’t subscribe to journals, blogs, etc. But as this one song goes…”you are, the only exception…” Haha. =) Every entry from OAP that goes into my inbox is worth reading. I’m afraid I might miss out on a new restaurant or a new show if I delete or ignore the email. I am always in for new places to go to, but I am very detailed too…about the ambiance, price, taste, location, parking space, room lighting, restaurant staff, even the rest room! Then, voila! I discovered OAP. =) I must say Anton, GREAT job!
Anyway, back to Marcia’s. I have a few questions coz we’re planning to go there soon.
(1)Is the set menu worth it or do you suggest to go a la carte instead?
    (2)Which ones are the must-try?
(3)What’s the best time to go there? Lunch or dinner? The sunset seems really
    nice, though.
(4)Which is the best table in the house? The sunset lounge looks really pretty
with that amazing view. Thinking of having that reserved, but I noticed that
it’s by the entrance of the restaurant. Is it an odd area to dine at or
would you recommend to have a table reserved at the main dining area
instead(which looks equally pretty, by the way)? Is there a view of the
    lake?
(5)What other things can we do there? Say, a tour, maybe?
(6)I’ve been to ville sommet, so is marcia’s right across it?
(7)Have you gone back? Any changes on your thoughts about it?
(8)Is this so far your latest discovery in Tagaytay?
(9)Lastly, would you say it’s worth the long drive to Tagaytay?
Oh wow, I apologize for my long list of questions. See, I’m OC like that. But oh, I would truly appreciate all your suggestions. Thanks so much in advance! =)
By the way, congratulations on the completion of your 2011 planner! I just read that you had help form the BDJ people. I’m sure it’s going to be a hit! I hope soon you could sell this in bookstores too!

  11. May i request for the following details:
    Full name of restaurant
    How to go there
    Contact numbers
    Days and hours open.
    Thanks.
