This was my first 21k for this year and the third in the last 4 months. When I started joining half marathons, I would usually finish as one of the last runners. My first ever 21k was in June 2007 at 3 hours and 19 minutes.
For the Condura Run, I was aiming to finish below 3 hours, which I was able to accomplish (coming in at 2 hours and 56 minutes). This is my personal best ever since I started running. I’m going back to running this year because I want to join my second full 42k Marathon after my first one in in 2007 (see: I am a Marathoner! I lived to tell about it…)
The Condura Run’s the first big run for 2010, and it was awesome because we were able to run on the Skyway from the Buendia Ramp all the way to the Villamor Interchange. (Only if you run the 21k.) Also, the Condura Run had adequate water stations, cheering squads throughout the route with a morning rah-rah, and most importantly, it started on time. 🙂 The only glitch was that they ran out of 21k medals — I’m not sure why.
Here are some of my running notes for my 21k Condura Run:
— My iPod is my best friend. My 21k playlist contained songs from the Black Eyed Peas, Beyonce and Rent mostly. I can’t imagine running without the iPod — but I might do just that when I try joining a Triathlon one of these days.
— Apply petroleum jelly throughout my body and feet. I learned this from past marathons. It’s so that I can avoid the usual runner bruises from the clothes and shoes.
— Bring a power gel. I use this after I reach the 10k point. This is very important to give me a boost of energy and to balance electrolytes in the body, aside from the usual water hydration techniques.
— Keep a positive mindset. When I run, I try to smile at the people I meet and greet the marshals, “Good morning!”
My only mistake for this run was I ate late at night. We watched Rent the previous night and it ended around 10.30pm. We ate salad and pasta for dinner in Boheme Brasserie. I felt heavy in the morning and I was able to sleep at around 1.30am. The assembly time for the run was at 4.30am.
That’s it.
Congratulations to all the runners who finished the half and full marathons in Condura Run 2010!
Congrats to Jaymie for finishing another full marathon! 🙂

Congrats Anton. And goodluck in training for your next full marathon. What’s your target race? Milo uli?
The medals were found at around 10am na. Accdg to them, someone took it and was found later near the trash. Just email secretariat@condura.com for the medal.
Congrats Anton!

Nice talking to you in Pancake house 🙂
Thanks for the tip, Jinoe 🙂
Nice one Anton 🙂 Are you joinin the Feb 21 Century Tuna run?
Yes I'm running 21k again in Century… Hopefully it would be a lot easier with less bridges to run over 🙂
ooohh, you were there? We were there too, but 10K. Congratulations! 🙂
Did the 10K in this race as well, and have to say that it could have been better organized overall. Aside from the lack of medals, some of the 21K and 42K bibs did not have barcodes. Plus there was a queue (yes, as in “pila”) at the finish line for the 10k and 5K finishers. Too bad since it was the first major marathon for 2010. I still had fun though, and hope Century’s will be much better!
Congrats on making 21K! Good job!
wow! congratz on the 21k!
this was supposed to be my first run but i was sick days before the race so i did not push thru although i have already registered for the 5k.
anyway, there’s the Superbods next week. goodluck! 🙂
Congratulations on your 10k too! Sa Century tuna naman 🙂
