It’s the first time I’ve seen so many Koi at one time! Some of them were literally out of the water already as they were being fed. It started as a mix of small and adult carps until they flourished so well in the lake environment with minimal mortality rate.
Feeding the fish, boating around the lagoon and dining al fresco beside the lake are recommended activities with your kids when you visit Solenad, the first retail area in Nuvali.
Why “Solenad”? Solenad comes from “sol” meaning sun and “nad” from the word promenade. Solenad does justice to its name given its outdoor scenery, parks and lush greens within a neighborhood center.

Our first stop was at this booth, where we bought our boat ride ticket for P30/head. They also have Bike Rental for P60/hour.
The official Fish Feeding schedule is from 8am – 5pm, Mondays to Sundays. We bought the feeds for P15 per pack.
Koi are omnivorous fish, which means they feed on both plants and animals (including insects, crustaceans and meat proteins).
Koi keep the lake water clean. The 4-hectare multi-functional lake serves as a rainwater catchment and a fire reserve.
Koi can recognize the people feeding them (and you get this feeling that they’re staring at you directly).
Aidan loved feeding the fish, but Joshua hesitated initially because of the noise and the splashes of water generated by the Koi. The fish really went crazy fighting over the feeds.
After we bought our ticket, we were assigned a boat docking number and our order of boarding. The Water Taxi Ride took about 10 minutes to go around the lake.
The boat can accommodate a maximum of 10 people. You can actually reserve a boat for your group (with a minimum of 5 members) for P180. The best view is in front.
After leaving the Solenad area, the boat entered a tunnel under the bridge, which the kids loved.
There are about three fountains around the lagoon that just shoot straight up.
At the end of the lagoon is Nuvali’s iconic Evoliving Center, which is a showcase of Nuvali’s commitment to protect and live in harmony with nature. It is primarily used as a showroom for Nuvali’s Masterplan development, but its eco architecture is something to see for yourself.
The best time to go is around sunset. Officially, the last trip is 5pm, but sometimes they extend until 6pm before the sun sets. The lake does not have any lights for now.
Solenad, Nuvali is a must stopover for us whenever we go to Sta. Rosa or the Tagaytay area. Check it out and let me know if you have other discoveries in Nuvali…

first time I went there few months back, was so amazed with the KOI. It’s like you’re looking on a kaleidoscope.

Happy to see the post of calendar events of Nuvali. I’m the organizer/partner of Nuvali for the Green Weekend at Solenad. It’s an artisan and organic community fair developed for the residents of the South. Every 3rd weekend of the month, visitors of Solenad can enjoy a food & organic market, a bazaar, and lots of other pocket activities such as kiddie shows, arts & crafts, “green” living lectures, and live bands scheduled every time. A popular and regular feature that we have is the cooking demo of Chef Sau del Rosario at 1130AM 3rd Sundays of the month. He does an impromptu cooking demo of the available ingredients he is able to purchase at the food market. For kids, we usually have nail art, face painting, glitter tattoo, magic shows, puppet shows, etc.
I’d like to invite you and all your readers to drop by – for fish feeding boating, and for more exciting activities we have lined up this coming May 15-16! a dessert cooking demo of Chef Sau, a cooking demo Italianni’s (catering to children), Mara’s organic market (of Legaspi market) on Saturday, nail art, face painting, glitter tattoo, arts & crafts, cookie & cupcake decorating.

Parking is good and they have disable friendly rampways. Pig Out is good but a bit expensive. Dodomo and Crisostomo is worth to try as well…

Is there an entrance fee required? How does one get there if we are coming from Cubao area?
No entrance fee Jonah. From Cubao, take any bus in Edsa going to Sta. Rosa, Laguna. From Sta. Rosa, after the toll gate, you can get a jeep that goes to Nuvali.

Find your way to South Luzon Expressway and exit Sta. Rosa Laguna. Go to the path going to Tagaytay and you should see it after Paseo Sta. Rosa
Was able to see the place at last! Kahit na I’m just 20minutes away from Nuvali. The place is indeed best appreciated by families. For those wanting to see more great ‘views’, it doesn’t really offers much. hi i am planning to bring my family at nuvali to celebrate my mom’s birthday. i want also to try the different amenities offered at nuvali. i just want to ask if there are areas for family picnic or do we need to rent huts because i am thinking of bringing our own cooked food. thanks in advance. i hope to hear from you asap.
To date, there are no available picnic huts. Some would just bring a mat and have picnic on the garden area.
