BRGR: The Burger Project!

I’ve been working on a Battle Burger project with the Juice.PH team for the past few weeks. We tasted and rated all the best burgers you can think of in Manila, and we are about to release the Battle Burger results in Juice.PH.

As we’re about to close our quest for the Best Burger in Manila, we came across an interesting burger joint along the foodie street of Maginhawa — BRGR: The Burger Project! There, you can customize your burger based on your preference…

You can choose the type of buns, burger, cheese, fresh toppings and  sauces you’d like to use for your burger. It is a combination of Ristras’ concept of displaying the fresh ingredients coupled with the Fro-yo places’ concept of being able to choose your own toppings but, this time, applied to burgers.

It is self-service so you have to order and pay at the counter, and then you have to get the food when your name is called.

To customize your burger, pick up an order form and:
1.  Choose your burger:
100% Beef (P95/each), Tofu (P75/each), or Chicken (P95/each)
You can choose up to 3 pieces of patty.
2.  Choose a bun:
Poppyseed (FREE with Burger), Potato Bun (P15) or Oatmeal Bun (P15) for vegetarians
3.  Choose your Cheese: (add P35 each)
Bleu, Mozzarella, Gruyere, Cheddar

4. Choose your Premium Toppings (add P25 each):
Bacon, Chili con carne, Caramelized Onions, Canadian Bacon, Pepperoni, Onion Rings, Guacamole (seasonal)

5. Choose your Basic Toppings
(add P20 each)
:
Mango Salsa, Pineapple Slices, Jalapeno Peppers, Sun Dried Tomatoes, Egg, Sliced Onions, Sauteed Mixed Mushrooms

Toppings
(FREE)
:
Lettuce, Tomatoes, and Pickles come FREE with the burger.

BRGR- The Burger Project!-20

6. Choose your Sauce: (add P15 each):
Wasabi Mayonnaise, BBQ Sauce, Teriyaki Sauce, Marinara, Pesto, Buffalo Wings Sauce, Special BRGR Sauce, and Garlic Sauce

I actually like the cozy college tambayan vibe of the place, where you can play cards and hang out with your friends over burgers.

If you don’t want to customize your burger, BRGR offers cleverly created designer burgers, too (they seem to be designed to increase the cost of the burger). We ordered two of the designer burgers below:

Western Bacon Melt
(P215)
.

100% Beef Burger Patty – P95
Poppyseed Bun – FREE with Burger
Cheddar Cheese – P35
Premium Topping: Bacon – P25
Premium Topping: Onion Rings – P35
Basic Topping: Sauteed Mixed Mushrooms – P20
Tomatoes – FREE with burger
BBQ Sauce – P15

I like it. The patty is huge, very soft, and has a home-cooked feel to it. The buns are very soft as well, like monay. It is actually good for two (as long as you both aren’t extremely hungry). The only thing is that there is a sharp, salty taste that we suspect is due to the bacon, which ruins the burger experience.

The Sloppiest Joe
(P205)
.

100% Beef Burger Patty – P95
Poppyseed Bun – FREE with Burger
Cheddar Cheese – P35
Premium Topping: Chili Con Carne – P25
Premium Topping: Canadian Bacon – P25
Premium Topping: Caramelized Onions – P35
Tomatoes – FREE with burger

This is the sloppiest-tasting burger ever, bordering on yucky territory already. We don’t recommend it.

You can also order very fat mozzarella sticks for the kids. 🙂

Disclosure: Nothing to disclose. We paid for our burgers and we are NOT connected in any way with the owners.

P.S. I just want to make sure we cover all the best burgers out there for our Battle Burger Article. Please tell me which is your most favorite burger in the metro. Feel free to post it in the comments section.

P.P.S. Next door is Sancho, which serves the best Churros in town. The people behind Sancho are the former owners staff of Dulcinea.

  1. Try Regrub Burger. It’s located at the parking lot of Club 650 in Libis (right beside Shopwise). It’s actually just a small stall there behind the place which sells cupcakes.
Arguably one of the best burgers in town! I think its better than BRGR. Its cheap too! Just a little over 100 pesos for a double pure beef patty.

  2. Regrub Burgers are good and cheap too. It’s really cheap! haha. Taste-wise, Brothers Burger is better. Try Bun on The Run in Metrowalk.

  3. Hey Anton. This is definitely a must-try if and when I get to that part of town. I am from the south. Speaking of which, I hope you included Crave Burger in the Battle Burger Project. They have stores inside BF Resort in Las Pinas and another in BF Paranque beside Southville International School among a few other places. Far simpler in terms of choices compared to BRGR but surely of good quality and value for money. It has become a family favorite. Cheers.

  4. hey awesome planet! best burgers for me are Chili’s Peppercorn Burger, Sango’s Beef Teriyaki Rice Burger and Charlie’s Grind & Grill’s Black Angus Burger (“,)

  5. The concept was like the Cajun Burger of Makati and Glorietta food choices, only with wider varieties (like the buns and the patties). I miss the old Cajun.. would love to try out this one. thanks for sharing…

  6. hi anton, i recommend you to try GOODFELLAS. im really kind of a foodie as well, and as much as possible i like trying to eat at new restaurants all the time. I must say GOODFELLAS is also a must try, especially their margherita burgers 🙂 its along T. Gener, near scout area in tomas morato.

  7. Hi Ingrid,
Thanks for the tip! Marami ngang may gusto ng Bite Club. Honestly, we did not consider this but I'm checking it out now. Thanks for this tip!
    Anton

  8. Hi, Anton!
The former owners of Dulcinea are not connected with Sancho’s. it’s the former staff that runs Sancho’s 🙂

  9. Hi, Anton!
The former owners of Dulcinea are not connected with Sancho’s. It’s some of their former staff that owns it. 🙂

  10. This is the second time I saw a blog feature on BRGR the Burger Project. I really want to try them and this post makes me want to go more! Thanks for sharing all the choices so we can already plan on what we’re going to pick when we actually go there. Heheh 🙂
I love Churros so I would also love to try those from Sancho! Woot! 🙂

  11. Hi Anton. How’s the parking in Burger Project? Easy lang?
For the Regrub fans (I love Regrub too, btw), they have a bigger branch na outside Ortigas Home Depot.

  12. Maginhawa has three burger shops just a few steps away from each other: Good Burgers, Crave Burger and BRGR. I go to Good Burger when I’m trying to be good and Crave Burger when I’ve done something good. I’ll try BRGR next time 🙂

  13. this blog made me hungry!sana i can go there, im from the south pa..speaking of hungry, do you still remember hungry hippo burger in SHELL station, slex?we still have hungry hippo here in lipa.:) i love their burgers!

  14. Hi Anton,
Please try Elbert’s Cheesesteaks at the basement level of Power Plant. I know they specialize in cheesesteaks but I never went back to their cheesesteaks after I tried their burger.
Their double patty american cheeseburger for 290 pesos is the best burger I’ve ever tasted. The buns have that nice bite to it and the patty has the right saltiness and size.

  15. Pay a visit to Butter Diner in Shopwise Cubao, despite having tasted Charlie’s, Wham and Bite Club, I still think this place has the best American burgers in the Metro!

  16. there is a nice, cozy coffeeshop in BF Resort Las Pinas called Peaberry Cafe, which serves some great cheeseburgers. 🙂
all the regulars rave about it, and i go there all the way from bicutan for my burger fix.
they have a facebook page you can check out: just search for Peaberry Cafe. 🙂

  17. Yes, just the staff of Dulcinea. Their churros is really good. Sad to say, I prefer Sancho now than Dulcinea.

  18. Value for money? Charlie’s is the best. Bar none. Crave and sango! Doesn’t even come close to Charlie’s even my australian friends love it and you know how picky they are with their meat. Chilli’s is good but expensive.

  19. Hi Anton,
Sorry for the late reply. Peaberry Cafe is located at #511 Capitolline Hills Street, BF Resort Village, Las Pinas City.
It may be a bit of a trip if you’re not from the south or familiar with it. The main entrance of BF Resort Village is at the intersection of Alabang-Zapote Road and Casimiro. There is a 7-11 on the corner and Cecile’s Restaurant.
From the main gate, you will go straight past all the banks. After Elizabeth Seaton School, you will turn left on Abel Nosce Street (its about 50 meters after Elizabeth seaton). At the end of Abel Nose, you turn right. Peaberry Cafe is a two story building on your left. you can’t miss it.
If you are planning a trip there, please let me know so i can help you out with directions and maybe even accompany you. 🙂

  20. I love Brgr Project! I prefer to make my own burger though to keep it on the adventurous side. You should do a review on Sancho. The churros look really yummy!

  21. consider regrub at club 650! it’s cheap and absolutely delicious! it’s just a kiosk but you’d be surprised when you taste their burgers.

  22. I didn’t like the burger at BRGR Project. At first, I was amused with the ordering system since you have a feeling of being “in control” of what your burger supposed to end up. Amidst all the toppings, I find the burger patty really bland— I guess that’s the reason why there is a need for all those add-ons to your burger. Surprisingly, the add ons were not enough to give the “Oooomph!” to the burger. Plus they served my milkshake at nearly room temperature! It would be more forgivable if it was sitting on the counter for a long time but I saw it with my 2 eyes while they make the milkshake which they served right after making it. Made it with fridge water & no ice at all 🙁
Final verdict on the burger? Mas masarap pa ang amazing aloha ng Jollibee

  23. have you tried son of a beef? theyv been hitting up bazaars this past year. SOBRANG SARAP! and for 1/3 pound theyr cheap. new zealand beef is what they use. the last that they had in alabang sold out both days! just saying that you should try it anton

  24. Have you tried Boulevard Diner in Xavierville Avenue? They recently opened and I read from Foodie Manila that they have the best burger in town.

  25. Tried it a couple of weeks back, I like the concept and the decor of the place. Now about the burger:
What I liked about the burger:
    -Serving size is BIG!
    – The flavor of the patty was alright.
    – Good amount of toppings and sauces to choose from.
    – You get to name these bad boys!
    Areas of opportunities:
    – The bun was kind of stale (poppy seed bun)
    – I couldn’t decide between the barbecue or their special sauce (spent a lot of time thinking). Since it was my first time, I went for their special sauce. First bite of into the burger I knew I should have picked the BBQ sauce because their special sauce tasted like the Jollibee burger sauce!!!!
I’m willing to give them another try, but my go to burger joint along maginhawa will still be Good Burger.

  26. zark’s has great burgers at student prices (located right across dlsu manila, 2nd floor of the same building as yellow cab). mouthwatering burgers on the menu as well as unique ones made weekly at times. like right now, until xmas i think, their special burger is like a bacon cheese burger, but the bun is a krispy kreme donut. haven’t tried the new creation yet, but been there a few times, and it’s pretty good.
oh, and there’s also a few contests at zark’s. very much like ‘man vs. food’ on tlc. jawbreaker(bacon, spam, lettuce, etc!), tombstone (4 patties-2lbs.), and the eat all you can (i think its 300pesos for 2 hrs).

  27. Hi Anton,
have you tried Army Navy burger? they have this so-called bully-boy burger with three-quarter pound patties. It looks delicious but it’s too much for me, so i opted for their double burger with cheese and bacon. Yum! You guys should try it. highly recommended. 🙂

  28. Hi sir! Try Zark’s burgers! Taft’s finest! hehe. May event sila this January 24, yung triple patty with spam, bacon, cheese, fries and drinks P150 na lang. Animo! hehe

  29. taft’s finest indeed! crave, army navy, bbb and malcolm’s are no match sa burgers ng zark’s. Dumami na burger joint sa la salle pero sa zarks pa ri kami. hehe

  30. don’t know if i can categorize myself as a burger fan but so far the best outlet that serves the best burger for me are WHAM and MANDARIN HOTEL

  31. hi! i love burgers! i want to try this one but it is quite expensive. You might want to try NOMI, formerly called NOMIMONO. It is located near DLSU. A lot of Lasallians go there because of the very delicious food and drinks. One of the best burgers I tasted. 🙂

  32. Hi Angel. Though Im not a burger fan, I always crave for HID (Healthy, Irresistable, Delicious) burger in Phoenix Gas Station in Imelda Ave, Cainta Rizal. Theyre using a chicken patty but it tastes like beef. Cost ranges from 90-125. And if you want to add patty to you burger, you just need to add 10-15 php. My personal favorite is herbs and cheese. A must try! 🙂

  33. hi Quito.. Regrub burger has recently opened a new branch in metrowalk 🙂 its also a stall near the parking area located across pancake house & collezione.. just visit it. Thanks

  34. Hi rinaaz.. Regrub burger has recently opened a new branch in metrowalk 🙂 its also a stall near the parking area located across pancake house & collezione.. just visit it. Thanks. (by the way, nakita ko yung sa ortigas home depot ibang burger place pala yun, grub yung name nya)

  35. Hey Kc, Regrub burger has recently opened a new branch in metrowalk 🙂 its also a stall near the parking area located across pancake house & collezione.. just visit it. Thanks.

  60. Best ones i’ve tried are wham! and bite club, worst one was crave, so dry. Brgr project was okay but i totally hated the service, the staff were arguing with one another like i wasn’t even there and they forgot to put the patty in my burger, good thing i checked.
