Aida’s Chicken – The Best of Bacolod’s Manokan Country in Makati Cinema Square

The Best Bacolod Chicken Inasal for me can be found in Aida’s in Manokan Country in Bacolod and Bacolod Chicken Inasal Express in Manila. When I visited the Masskara festival last year, I learned that Aida’s has a Manila branch in Makati Cinema Square.

Finally, we were able to check out Aida’s Chicken House in MCS…

Aida’s Manokan – The BEST in Manokan Country, Bacolod

Aida’s Menu

For Bacolodian and Manileño Foodies, when it comes to Bacolod Chicken Inasal in Manokan Country, Aida’s is the best choice. The closest rival of Aida’s in Manokan is Nena’s Beth/Nena’s Rose outlet.

Toto Tarrosa, the owner of Aida’s, is a serious photographer hobbyist. Here, he proudly shows off his photos of Miss Bacolod.

Bambi Borromeo, the BEST Heritage/Foodie Tour Guide of Bacolod, also recommended Aida’s when we visited for the OAP.TV shoot there.

You have to eat inasal with sinamak vinegar, soy sauce, kalamansi and sili.

Pechopak (P60) + Garlic Rice (P30) in Manokan Country.

What I like about the chicken in Manokan Country is that it is fresh and juicy. A dash of garlic oil and garlic rice add to the inasal dining experience. Most of the restos serve dressed chicken already (including Aida’s), but there are still some that prefer native chicken for their inasal.

What makes the chicken juicy is in the way they cook it — the chicken is cooked only upon order (and not precooked like in most inasal places in Manila).

Another specialty at Aida’s in Ilonggo country is freshly steamed talaba!

Isol (P50), Atay/Baticolon (P25), Heart/Tina-e/Bul-o/Tungkol (P20).

Bacolod Chicken Inasal is best paired with San Miguel Beer brewed in Bacolod city itself. That’s why the taste is a bit different — with sweet notes and a fresher taste.

Aida’s Chicken in Makati Cinema Square

In Makati, Aida’s is called Aida’s Chicken House and is hidden in the basement of Makati Cinema Square. The ambiance is nothing like its original Manokan Country branch, which has a bahay kubo-style. This one is more like a canteen (with plastic chairs) but with art surrounding you.

Toto Tarrosa is an art lover, and you can see his personal collection around Aida’s.

The restaurant is also an alternative exhibit space for artists.

Here, you still get the best of Bacolod’s condiments — Sinamak with Soy Sauce and Kalamansi. The set meals are served with hot chicken soup.

Chicken Inasal – Leg with rice and soup (P135).

You have to wait for a while when you order your inasal, which is a good sign because it means they don’t precook their chicken. The inasal they serve here is as juicy as the ones found in Manokan Country.

Ilonggo Express
(P135).

In the Makati Branch, they serve other hot dishes. We like this Ilonggo-style Bicol Express with knotted baguio beans and sigarillas. It’s good that there are other options in the menu: Set Meals, Soup and Drinks | New Menu

Chicken Inasal – Breast with rice and soup
(P135).

Besides the soup, the set meals are served with eggplant ensalada and salted eggs. For P135 pesos only, you’ll get yummy, authentic chicken inasal. 🙂

Really good, authentic chicken inasal for a good price and artsy ambiance! Remember, don’t settle for anything less than the authentic because it’s such a waste of calories if you eat mediocre inasal.

  1. Nice post, thanks for sharing! I love inasal and will take your word for it.
Makati Cinema Square nga lang is a bit of a turn-off what with the random placement of carinderias beside ukay ukay et. al. Scary basement parking too. Hope they locate to a better area.

  2. OMG!!! I’ve been on a look out for a close-to-the-real-thing Bacolod chicken inasal. Once you have tried inasal in Bacolod everything else pales in comparisson and it’s kind of sad for someone who cannot go to Bacolod on a whim. I like that this place is “hidden” in MCS hihihi! Who would have thought?:) BTW, we tried Nena Beth in manokan country, pretty good too. The taxi driver pointed us there and said something like Visayan native chicken but we didn’t get any of that.:)

  3. I agree! Aida’s FTW! This is where I tasted authentic and the best Chicken Inasal when I went to BCD! I also love their Isaw or what they call Tina-e! 🙂
PS: Bakit parang ang laki ng price difference nila? (BCD vs Manila)

  4. after bacolod chicken house in Intramuros and JT’s (San Juan and Makati), I think I’ll check out this place.
there are some small places in MCS that are good food joints.

  5. Hi, avid reader here! You should also try Oscarrrito’s along Scout Borromeo. They also serve authentic Bacolod dishes and their inasal is a winner! Very juicy 🙂

  6. I heard the owners are Ilonggos. I don’t know if they have a main branch in Bacolod. But they have a FB page, too bad they don’t update it. Try their Pancit Ifuven also. 🙂

  7. aida’s is good but i have just found a better inasal – try Big Bird’s Chicken Inasal at the Fort. The original variant is really good.

  8. My wife and I like Joel Torre’s JT’s Manukan in Makati. It’s the best inasal we’ve tasted but we have to try Aida and see how it compares.

  29. I went to MCS when I’ve read this, ang sarap kse talaga ng kumain kme sa Bacolod. Well anyway, I got frustrated coz walang talaba at isol tska yun sabaw kasama sa meal hindi kasing-sarap. I suggest wag na meal ang iorder, mismong chicken and rice na lang. Tried the stuffed pusit, masarap din yun.

  30. we ate at aida’s at around 1pm today and there were a lot of diners.I like their inasal with ensaladang talong. But the best inasal for me is Sinugba located at kamagong makati. sobrang sarap din ng Lapaz Batchoy nila sa Sinugba, It’s a place na kailangan mo diskubrihin kasi medyo tago sya. Service is very good, very Ilonggo.

  31. I agree! Aida’s is the best so far in Manila. I didn’t like JT’s because my wife once saw them put msg in their chicken (serious). Kaya pala malasa. Pero Aida’s is really good.

  32. My son and I ate here a few months ago and after the experience, we have no intention of returning. Why? It’s because a simple order of chicken inasal took 45 minutes to be served with only around 8 customers around to boot!

  33. You won’t post this because it’s a paid ad. Owner was approached. Staff was caught on numerous occasions touching and sneezing while handling the food. She did nothing. Offer no apology and snickered at me. Horrible!
