Apulit Island Resort Experience (formerly Club Noah)

Apulit Island Resort opened last December 2010. Formerly known as Club Noah, it is now owned by the El Nido & Ayala Group and they decided to use the actual name of the island. We’ve been long-time fans of El Nido resorts — both Miniloc and Lagen, and now the budding Apulit Resort in Taytay, Palawan.

I’ve never been to Club Noah, so we decided to immediately check out its new reincarnation, Apulit Island Resort, when it opened. Here is our experience…

Apulit Island Resort has a total of 30 water cottages and 20 deluxe water cottages, which are built like nipa huts on stilts (with beautiful limestone cliffs in the background).

Reserve Room#51, which is the farthest water cottage on the east side, if you need privacy.

The room is nicely done with its typical Filipino modern design. We had two single beds that could easily be joined together to form a queen bed.

All the old furniture from its Club Noah days have been changed and replaced with pieces that are custom-made for the Apulit Island Resort.

The bathroom of the standard room is quite narrow. It has a hot & cold shower. Drinking water is provided in the room.

El Nido’s thoughtful gesture of leaving hand-written messages on leaves always add a nice, personal touch to your stay.

They also give out eco bags where you can put your non-biodegradable products, and a buri bag and a pair of native slippers that you can use throughout your visit.

There is an octagonal open platform towards the end of the East cottages where you can have a private meal set up for you and your family.

It is quite windy in this area, though. Raphael’s hat was blown away by the wind here, and we weren’t able to retrieve it.

The Clubhouse Restaurant is the main dining area. It is located in the center of the cove.

My wife loved the handcrafted hats, bags, and especially the unique  shawls by Rurungan of Puerto Princesa only available in the resort store in the Main Clubhouse.

The clinic is also located near the Main Clubhouse where they have trained nurses to deal with emergencies.

We took Aidan to the clinic since he had a minor wood splinter in his hand. The nurse was able to build rapport with him immediately and removed the splinter with ease. Great job!

The West water cottages are where people pass by to and from the main wharf of the island.

These are the family deluxe water cottage rooms on the west side of the island.

We prefer the East water cottages because the area is more private and it is the quiet part of the cove.

Wifi is available in the Clubhouse, and it is very reliable. Sometimes, the signal can reach all the way to the water cottages in the morning, when no one is using it.

There’s no TV for the kids, so we spent a lot of time playing on the balcony, watching the sea, or having a wacky photoshoot. 🙂

Full Disclosure: My friend from El Nido gave us an Apulit Island Resort gift certificate for the accommodation before she left the company, so the entire family decided to check it out last December.

Holiday Package Inclusions:

• Overnight accommodation in an air-conditioned room

• One buri bag in the room
• A pair of native slippers per adult

• Services of Guest Activity Coordinators from 7am to 9pm daily

Note for families:

• Child 7-11 years old sharing room with 1 adult shall be charged Child Supplement of P3,000 nett/night. This rate is inclusive of 3 full board meals, use of resort facilities, boat transfers, regular activities, tax and service charge.
• Children 6 years old and below sharing room with at least 1 adult stay for FREE, and shall be extended complimentary meals from the buffet.
• Should a separate room be assigned to 2 children below 12 years of age, one child shall be charged single rates.
