MeiDolls Cafe is the first Maid Cosplay Cafe in the Philippines. The attendants are dressed in French Maid costumes and make diners feel like they are masters and mistresses in a private home.
The concept is cute and the cosplayers are great. The food they serve is comfort food, priced affordably at around P100/dish. Just lower your expectations regarding the food and ambiance, and you’ll have a great time. 🙂
To check it out, we braved the Ortigas Avenue Extension traffic. Here is our MeiDolls Cafe experience…
The cafe is located on the second floor of a mini-mall. The tables are low and very Japanese (where you have to sit in an unusual-for-us way). The dining and kitchen areas are small — just like eating in a small, hole-in-the-wall restaurant.

Here, the “maids” will call you their master (like, “What’s your order, master?“) It may feel a bit awkward at first, but you’ll get used to the concept of the cafe after a while.
MeiDoll Fishkatsu with Rice (P100 +10% service charge).
I would recommend the rice toppings, specifically the breaded fish with teriyaki sauce. The serving size is good for one person, and the price is just right at P100.
MeiDoll Gyudon (P110 +10% service charge).
The gyudon meat was very tasty. It’s worth a try.
The food is served fast, which probably means the food is prepared beforehand and just heated in the microwave before serving.
Our server, Meidoll ♥ Tenshi, added a cute touch to our omurice with ketchup. They also have this kawaii power chant when serving the meal.
MeiDoll Omurice (P85 +10% service charge).
This is a simple rice omelet with ketchup. Looking at it is actually better than tasting it.
We ordered the MeiDoll best sellers, complete with the cutesy power chant.
MeiDoll Lasagna (P110 +10% service charge).
We enjoyed the cheesy and saucy simple lasagna, which is good as a comfort food merienda.
Fried Sushi Rolls – 4 pieces(P65 +10% service charge).
We are not really fans of fried stuff, but this is passable as a starter for kids. The rolls were cut hastily though, so there’s still room for improvement in the presentation and portioning of these rolls.
Bread Rolls – 8 pieces (P65 +10% service charge).
This is basically breaded hotdog cut into 8 pieces — just OK.
MeiDoll Seafood Ramen (P95 +10% service charge).
We did not like this because the ramen noodles seemed to be from a ramen pack or bowl one can buy at a supermarket (and then just transferred to a nice bowl).
Cake Pops (P45/piece +10% service charge).
We do not recommend the cake pops. They were a bit hard.
Tempura Fried Ice Cream (P75 +10% service charge).
You have to eat this immediately after it is served so that you can still taste the melting ice cream.
The Green Tea Kagigori was out of stock at that time — that might be a better dessert alternative.
Overall, the service concept is very cute and eye-catching. The food is simple comfort food that you can typically have at home. We recommend the rice toppings and lasagna if you decide to try it out.

On a non-food related note, Reia Ayunan, the founder, was one of the speakers at Pecha Kucha Inspire Japan, a fund raiser to support rehabilitation programs in Japan. Her story of how she grew up being fond of cosplay, coming up with the idea of opening her own meidoll cafe in Manila, working as a librarian for two years in the Middle East in order to earn enough to realize her dream, and actually doing it, was quite moving. Happy four-month anniversary Meidoll Cafe!

Actually, there was a previous maid cafe back in Makati by time square – I’m not sure if it still operates, this was back in 2006ish.
And I stumbled upon a Maid Cafe in Manila just last year 2010 around July. Near the Robinsons there – sa mga eskinita.
So I doubt believe this things really first and new. 🙂
im sorry but this is just too wierd.. “master”?? come on.. that is just too pervy and you bring your kids there? geezz.. we all know japs are wierd, dont try to get sucked by their wierd culture and you think its cool just beacause its different.
We normally trust your reviews thats why when I was was attracted to the concept I recommended to my Family (including my visiting Niece) we brave the rain and traffic to try it.
I learned my lesson. I should have completely read your review to find out this was a soso place…Not really worth braving the traffic and Rains.
The floors were dirty…and the bottomline – the Food – soso…But the concept is OK…

This place has since closed or relocated somewhere. Honestly, the only good thing about this is the concept. The food is just plain bad 🙁 The ramen – such a disappointment! I heard they’ll just be serving pastries & drinks, more like coffee shop style.
