Misibis Bay Resort in Cagraray Island in Albay, Bicol is marketed as “Your Luxury Island Playground”. It is a beach escape where you can relive your childhood fun with a lot of sports and adventure activities that both adults and kids can enjoy.
It is located on an exclusive cove in Cagraray Island, which is an hour away by land from the Legazpi Airport. You can stay in pool-side or beach-side villas, enjoy good buffet food, and relax with all the urban comforts of cable TV + Wifi.

Here are the top activities you can do with your family in Misibis (biased towards those with kids below 7 years old):
1. Eco-Energy Park Adventure Zone
The Cagraray Island Eco-Energy Park Adventure Zone is a separate facility from the Misibis Bay Resort. You have to either ride a golf cart (which is advisable for those with very young children) or ride ATVs (for those with kids 10 years old and above).
I have fond memories of the zipline adventure we had with our son Aidan (see: Flying Like Superman in Camp Sabros!). This is one activity that is safe for kids as young as 3 years old.
The Eco-Energy Park Adventure Zone Operating Hours:
Monday – Friday: 8.00-11.00am, 1.00-5.00pm
Saturday: 8.00-11.00am, 1.00-3.00pm
Holidays: By Special Arrangement.
The zipline is only 200m long and starts from a tall teambuilding structure all the way to the ground. They are planning to set up longer ziplines in different areas that will go around the adventure park.
It was so exciting to experience the zipline with my 3-year-old son Joshua.
For people who want to get married in Bicol, the Chapel in Cagraray Island (located inside the eco park) is a wonderful venue. It overlooks the bay and has Mt. Mayon as its backdrop on a clear, sunny day.
This reminds me of the same picturesque location of the Transfiguration Chapel in Batanes near Fundacion Pacita.
It is air-conditioned, surrounded with glass walls, and has a minimalist, modern design.
This amphitheater inside the eco park served as the location of the pit stop of Amazing Race Asia 4’s Philippine leg. Here, you can have a romantic dinner for two set up during your stay. Candles will even be lit to guide your way. Nice!
2. Fun Activities for Kids!
There is a small playroom for kids where they can hang out for hours.
The young ones can also play Wii and Playstation 3 games. (Tip: You might want to bring your own games because the CDs are not working. Plus, they have a limited selection.)
There is also an outdoor playground where the kids can swing and slide.
My favorite game with Aidan is Foosball. I like it because it is more physically interactive and more competitive.
We don’t watch a lot of TV at home, so when we got to the resort, the boys wanted to watch a DVD or two.
Most of the time, we love to swim and play in the pool with the boys (usually in the morning and during sunset/nighttime). There are three pools: a children’s pool, an infinity pool, and a pool that goes around the villas.
3. Hobie Cat Sailing
The resort has a nice beach, but I don’t think it’s advisable for kids since the water can get really deep, and the winds and currents are very strong. However, the place is safe and perfect for water sports.
It is actually ideal for Hobie Cat sailing, especially late in the afternoon when the winds are quite strong. Although they have 3 units available, it would be best to reserve your slot.
We love it because this is the only water sports activity where we can bring our 3 boys (ages 6, 3 and 1).
4. The Sunset Cruise
One of the activities that you should not miss in Misibis is the sunset cruise. It just goes around the bay and around Cagraray Island, where you can have a good vantage point of Mayon on a clear day with the sunset.
(Tip: You have to reserve your slot for the 4.30pm sunset cruise, which gets full fast all the time.)
The cruise takes an hour or so. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the good sunset breeze.
(Tip: Be the first to go inside the Island Hopper and reserve the sala leather seats at the back. These seats are actually the front portion of the boat, where you can have an unobstructed view of the surroundings.)
They only serve water and chicharon onboard the sunset cruise. I’m glad that my wife is always prepared with healthy snacks, like these pecans.
(Tip: Bring your own cocktail food and maybe even wine. 🙂 )
It was a cloudy day when we went on the cruise, so we just relaxed and enjoyed the glimpse of the sunset with the boys. Our sons love riding boats, so this was thrilling for them.
5. For Adults-Only Activities
You can ride the ATVs around the island, but management enforces a strict age limit, even for the dune buggy. I can’t blame them because a lot of accidents could happen while on an ATV.
You can rent the Segway PT-X2 (P2,000++/30 mins or (P6,000++/12 hours) to go around the resort.
Other water sports include the Banana Boat Ride, Jetski, Wake Boarding, and Knee Boarding.
You can choose to dive, but there’s not much marine life around the island because the corals were devastated by dynamite fishing. However, Cagraray Island is a great site for Galleon Shipwreck diving!
There is also a cave exploration activity, but we decided not to try it anymore because we found it unsafe for the kids. If you have tried that, let me know in the comments section. 🙂

P.P.S. If you would like to go to Donsol, I don’t recommend getting the expensive package from Misibis. It would be better to make your own Donsol arrangements separate from Misibis.
i love bicol! there are so much to see and do. if only thereas an airport further south going by the way of sorsogon, there are many many other great beaches!

dont ever go at misibis we wer der last MAY with terrible experienced ! LIST of our complaints
1. never get our abaca bag which is free
2.no welcome drinks at all ( anton your lucky you had it )
3.atv,hobiecat,sunset cruise not available also ( ortigas office told us its gona be guaranteed activities )
misibis has only 8 atv damn bad !
expect hidden charges specially for atv 3k pesos per head
4.weve been looking for our room for almost 20minutes no misbis staff around
5.floor room was slipery i slid 3times be careful
6. misibis foods are not impresive its all simple foods except the angus steak
7. its all buffet but clean your own mess no staff or waiter will get your plate after you ate and get next batch of food expect your old plate still there at top of ur table

The cave is interesting to visit the first time around. One slippery slope leads down to the cave entrance. To enter and exit the cave, one has to cling to a rope for support. Then one wades inside the cave until the water is neck-deep that it’s better to swim than to walk. The rest of the cave is too deep or maybe unexplored, so one has to go back to the entrance to get out.
The water inside the cave is very cold but fresh and clean. Aside from a few beer bottles left behind by local kids, there’s not much to see except for a couple of bats. This activity is great for average people who’ve never gone spelunking or rapelling, but it’s dangerous for kids. Also, those looking for a challenging climb will be disappointed by the ease of the whole experience.
I went there last year, and I enjoyed my experience at Misibis Bay.

Hi do you have any idea how long is the travel time from misisbis to calaguas? Aside from the land tours is it possible to explore places like calaguas or caramoan?
