75 foodies rated 5- Awesome! I would recommend it!
139 foodies rated 4- I love it!
116 foodies rated 3- We had a good time.
36 foodies rated 2- It is OK.
9 foodies rated 1- Thanks, but it could be better.

Sugarhouse is one of our favorite dessert places when it comes to classic sweets. In the Rockwell UTT, they offered the Yema Balls and Sylvannas to approving foodies. Personally, I like the yema balls (although they were a bit sweeter).

Congratulations to Sugarhouse!

The Story of SUGARHOUSE

Sugarhouse, Manila’s premiere cake shop has championed a tradition of good
taste in cakes, pastries, and other delectable dishes since 1983.

The first Sugarhouse opened on a 75-square meter lot on Anza Street, near
Makati Avenue. The small building housed a kitchen, bakery, display and
customer area.

There was no advertising but soon customers were lining up for Blueberry
Cheesecake, Chocolate Truffle, Strawberry Shortcake, Black Magic and the everpopular French Apple Pie.

Through word of mouth, the popularity of the little Cake Shop grew and more
outlets were soon opened. By 1994, there were four stores and a new, more
spacious Central Kitchen and Commissary in Mandaluyong.

With the establishment of Sugarhouse Central, we were able to serve institutional
customers such as restaurants and other establishments. We also began to
accept more made-to-order cakes for weddings, birthdays and other special
occasions.

The original cakes and pies first sold in Anza Street have now been joined by
20 other varieties, including a selection of cookies, breads and other pastries. In
response to the demand for healthier alternatives, sugarfree versions of some of
our bestsellers were introduced.

To complete the menu, soups, salads, sandwiches, pasta and “real meals”
were added. Specialties such as callos and beef & chicken salpicado keep our
customers coming back for more. Recent additions to the menu such as the
Sugarhouse Club, Baked Pork Spareribs, Roasted Pumpkin & Garlic Soup, and
Spinach Ravioli have gained a following as well.

At present, there are a total of 13 Sugarhouse branches.

There has never been a better time to come home to good taste. Come home to
Sugarhouse.

  1. I am glad that Sugarhouse is making an effort to be known once more. Everytime I pass by their old bakeshops and stalls, I cannot help but feel sad because it seems that they have been left behind by so many more innovative (though not necessarily better tasting) bakeshops and homebased bakers. I remember the time when Sugarhouse was the gold standard for premium cakes. Their French Apple Pie, Concorde, Black Magic, Honeycake, and Peach Walnut Cake were unbeatable.
