V. Sattui Napa Valley Picnic Lunch

After Castello di Amorosa, we decided to have a picnic lunch at the V. Sattui Winery, the 2011 Winery of the Year which is owned by Dario Sattui (same owner of the Tuscan Castle).

They are known not only for their pioneering wines that they were making since 1885 but also for the V. Sattui’s famous Cheese Shop and Deli 🙂

We got excited because the cheese deli was visually stimulating and everything looked yummy 🙂

You can buy from their extensive selection of cheeses sourced all around the world!

Unfortunately, the soft cheeses won’t be able to travel well back to Manila as a pasalubong.

Amor, Cheryl and Tessa can’t stop talking about the cheeses!

There is a cheese tasting station where you can taste different featured cheeses.

I particularly like this Noord Hollander Cheese aged for 4 years .

To buy from the deli, you have to get a number and wait for your turn to be called.

I personally liked the Stuffed Portobello with Sausage & Cheese (middle of the photo)

Make sure to buy some Oven Roasted Garlics. Yum!

The Sicilian Style Olives were really appetizing.

The Mac & Cheese pasta and the Tri-Tip Beef sandwich were good.

I also tried the  Ravioli and Gnocchi Marinara Pastas, unfortunately they are not good — maybe because the pasta was not fresh and there is something different in  the way they prepared the marinara sauce.

You can try the V. Sattui wines in the adjacent main tasting rooms for:

$5 Classic Tasting – Up to 5 of our most popular wines
$10 Premium Tasting – Up to 6 of our vintage and estate wines.

The best part of the experience was having a Napa picnic lunch under the big oak trees 🙂

This is a popular hang out place in Napa for lunch. The tables are for free but on a first come first serve basis.

Either you assign one person from your group to reserve the tables while the others buy food in the deli or bring your own picnic cloth where you can just sit and eat easy in the grassy area.

On weekends, they sometimes have a special Barbecue Lunch 🙂

We decided to buy breads, salads, pastas, and sandwiches from the deli which were served in eco-friendly  containers.

Of course, the experience is not complete without a cheese platter and a bottle of the award winning V. Sattui Cabernet Sauvignon wine.

This Napa picnic was a truly awesome experience! I’m inspired to recreate it here in Manila 🙂

Tessa was always in style with her Napa Valley picnic outfit 🙂

Thanks to Amor, Cheryl and Tessa for making this a memorable Napa Valley picnic experience!

Overall, V. Sattui Picnic experience is highly recommended for lunch or merienda in Napa Valley.

Full Disclosure: We paid for our meals. We are not connected in any way to the owners or PR company promoting this restaurant.

P.S. We just tried two wineries, and then checked out Dean and Deluca. Afterwards, the ladies decided to go on shopping for hours in the Napa Valley Premium Outlet which is on the way back to San Francisco.  Let me know if you have more Napa Valley tips for first timers.

  1. Hello again, Anton. Included a post on “Tips and tools for a napa tasting tour” on the Wine and Spirits Club Phils forum. Hope that helps. Since there’s an infinite way of arranging tours, it really depends on what one is looking for – wines, food, the sights, etc. Bottomline is to have fun.
If you are getting into wine, then I invite you to join the Wine and Spirits Club Phils. events.

  2. Hi, Anton, how are you? I went to V. Sattui Winery for many times already. I love their red and white wines as well as their cheeses, salads, and sandwiches. If I have relatives, friends, and former classmates that are visiting in San Francisco, then I will give them a tour in Napa also. There are many wineries in Napa Valley. My classmates like V. Sattui also. They will recommend also V. Satti, Andretti Winery, and so on. Although the wines are little expensive than those in grocery stores, they taste good and have a good aroma.
Thanks for visiting the wineries in Napa Valley and sharing these wonderful pictures.
