HARVEST Gastro Pub in BGC

Junjie Abella is best known for Chili Peppers, which is credited with starting the boom of the famed Magsaysay Strip in Naga City. Last year, he opened The Plantation Bar and Bistro along Carlos Palanca in Makati.

Harvest Gastro Pub is the resto sequel (after you plant, you harvest), with more emphasis on good food. Take note, the place turns into a bar at night.

I was surprised that he was the one who took over the controversial Alexandre spot beside Rose.

The interior and furniture of Alexandre were maintained. We also heard that some of the bakers were retained in Harvest.

Below is the official goodbye letter from Alexandre:

5 Cheese Overload Gourmet Pizza (P450 +10% service charge). Extra thin crust pizza with Gorgonzola, Mozzarella, Parmesan, Aged Cheddar, and Laguna White.

Our family loves pizza, and the boys just like it plain with cheese. 🙂 The pizza was good–better than Shakey’s–although I’d still go for the Aria brick-oven type of pizza.

It was a big square pizza, good to share for 3-4 people, and a good starter for the meal.

★ Slow Braised US Short Ribs Korean Beef Stew (P295 +10% service charge). US Short Ribs Kimchi Bibimbap Rice with Spiced Togue, Radish, Spinach and Nori.

We were craving for this type of Korean Beef Stew, a dish with really good sauce–sweet and malinamnam. The beef was very tender and great to pair with the slightly spicy rice. I loved the abundant serving of vegetables and spicy kimchi! A complete meal to satisfy your cravings. 🙂

★ Junjie’s Extra Special Chicken Galantina (P220 +10% service charge). Baked stuffed chicken with jamon, chorizo pamplona, cheese, olives, egg, pimiento, mashed potato, and caesar salad.

We also liked Junjie’s Galantina, which tasted like a really big sausage sliced into thick circles. The chicken with stuffed meat blended well together; the boys enjoyed every bite.

★ Toro Teriyaki (P295 +10% service charge). Grilled sashimi grade tuna belly with teriyaki sauce, grilled eggplant, Laguna cheese, tomato, Ensalada, served with Java rice.

We loved our order of grilled tuna belly with sweet, thick teriyaki sauce. The tuna was over-grilled and the bottom-side was black with charcoal burns. The tuna itself was really good and made even better with the sauce. (Tip: Order an extra serving of the sauce.)

The orange-colored Java rice was a bit weird but we liked its taste, and we appreciated the serving of ensalada. The serving size is good to share. 🙂

Overall, we love Harvest Gastro Pub’s food and we recommend eating here during lunchtime if you have kids (since it turns into a bar at night). I can’t wait for them to serve breakfast with croissants. 🙂 A P400-budget would be enough.

Full Disclosure: Junjie Abella is a friend from our La Salle days and he was our culinary tour guide in Naga City. We paid for our meals. We are not connected with the establishment and any organization promoting it.

P.S. We want to go back here. Any recommendations on what to order next time?

  1. The rice meals look great 🙂 And for those who want o use this place as a hangout, you will love the other things on the menu:
    1. I will reitereate what Cai said: That brick oven lechon belly. Great for sharing, or good for solo for the selfish side in all of us 😉
    2. Tokwa’t Bagnet – After sisig, this might be the next best “pulutan” that all bars should have
    3. Pizzas – the meat overload deserves special mention.
    4. Craft Beers – We advocate that we treat beer as a part of a good gastro-dining experience, and not a means to get drunk.
