‘CUE, Modern Barbecue Experience…

Cue' Modern Barbecue-22.jpg

The concept of a modern barbecue house created by first-time restaurateurs intrigued me. I initially thought it was a churrascaria, but it was more of a customizable barbecue experience.

At ‘Cue, you can choose your own meat and specify how you want it: wet or dry rubbed, slow-baked or dark ale-braised. Then, you can choose from the different house-made sauces, sides, and toppings.

This is a unique addition to the culinary hub of Bonifacio High Street Central restos…

‘Cue’s ambiance is simple with the bar and kitchen on the left side, and an educational display of the different cuts of meat on the right.

The best seats are at the farthermost tables or the circular tables near the window.

★ Bone Marrow and Steak Tacos (P485 +10% service charge). Roasted corn salsa, flour tortillas, sweet n’ spicy salsa verde.

We started with the popular appetizer of beef slices with bone marrow. It is best to eat the bone marrow while it’s hot. Although the tortillas were a bit tough, this would still make a good starter for meat lovers out there. 🙂

BBQ’D Brisket Ragu (P335 +10% service charge). Pulled beef, pork, tomato and a bit of cream.

We tried the pasta with pulled beef and pork, and it was nothing special. It’s just like spaghetti with soft strands of meat in thick tomato sauce.

The highlight of our meal was the Chopping Board Menu. If you order this, you can choose from Baby Back or Lamb Ribs, Bacon Slabs or Pork Chop, Angus Rib Eye or Beef Belly, or a simple Roasted Chicken.

If you can’t decide, you can order a Li’l Feast Sampler (P1,785) of four different kinds of meat.

★ The Baby Back Ribs (Half Slab – P645 +10% service charge). Slow-baked then BBQ’D. Wet with house-made BBQ Glaze. Each order is served with house-made sides and sauce.

We ordered the Baby Back Ribs, and we were delighted with the very soft meat slathered in BBQ glaze instead of the dry rub. It was not as sweet as Tony Roma’s but it had a more balanced BBQ taste.

★ Cue’s Chili Monggo (P125). A popular and unique house-made side dish for the meat.

Basically a bowl of Chili with the usual red beans — but this time, with the addition of monggo. We found it on the heavy side but good on its own.

Cue' Modern Barbecue-25.jpgWe loved pairing the meat with Chimichurri and ‘Cue’s signature sweet Red Wine BBQ Sauce.

Next time, we will add some toppings like the caramelized onions or roasted garlic cloves.

Caramel Pecan Cheesecake (P235 +10% service charge).

For some reason, we did not like the cheesecake we ordered. 🙁

Cue' Modern Barbecue-4.jpg
The Chocolate Chip Cookie Cake (P195 +10% service charge). With vanilla ice cream, whipped cream and hot fudge.

This Chocolate Chip Cookie Cake was the better option in the dessert menu.

(Tip: I would suggest hopping over to the next-door resto and ordering Stella’s Wood Fired Chocolate Almond Cookie Dough – a better executed and yummier version!)

‘Cue is certainly a Barbecue Haven for hardcore-carnivore foodies. 🙂 To maximize the experience, you can play around with the different sides, sauces, and toppings.

(I heard some foodies raving about the Burger, but I haven’t tasted it yet. Let me know if you have tried it or if you have any other recommendations.)

Full Disclosure: Nothing to disclose. We paid for our meals. We are not connected with the establishment or any organization marketing the restaurant.

P.S. One thing though, I just felt nakakasuya yung all-meat menu at some point.

  1. Oooo. Had a business lunch here last Friday at the suggestion of a business partner. It’s a man’s meat sanctuary 😀 Love the ribs. A little dry, though, but nice and tasty.
Chicken is great also since the white meat seems to lock in the juiciness.
This is a kind of restaurant that I would like to own one day 🙂

  2. Hi Anton, don’t you think its time to have your own IOS and Android app just to index all the reviews that you’ve made? Just a thought sir. More power.

  3. There are a lot of little gems across the menu at Cue — the sauces are definitely one of them! I find adding some extra sauce really pulls together the flavors. The pulled pork is really good (and authentic) with some extra onions.
Also, dont miss the jalapeno cornbread. It’s damn good!

  4. Ate there last week, I had the dry rub ribs, sweet potato fries and spicy wings
The fries were pretty amazing, not too oily and had a nice crisp to them.
    Wings were good as well.
The ribs were not good at all. They were dry and had little flavor. Yes I ordered the dry rub but that should not mean that the meat around the bone of the rib should be dry. The amount of sauce they give you is ridiculous, a small cup for a half rack, that seems a bit unreasonable but if you think about it the sauce would not have been needed if the ribs were moist and juicy. Too bad they weren’t.
I will go back to try the burger as my friends say it is good as well.
Anyone here have a good suggestion where to get good smoked BBQ? I was hoping this place would fulfill that need but it has fallen short.
