K-PUB BBQ: Meat-All-You-Can at K-Pop-Themed Resto :)

K-Pub BBQ Meat-All-You-Can-50.jpg
K-PUB BBQ Meat All You Can is a K-Pop Stars-Themed resto owned by a Filipino-Chinese. It promises a “funtastic” Korean BBQ Experience while watching K-Pop MTVs.

We were curious about the facade but had hesitations going in because we thought it was a Korean Super Pub. But I’m glad our curiosity won out, and we decided to try it with the boys.

Here’s our K-Pub BBQ Meat-All-You-Can experience:

It’s hard to miss the colorful facade, and you can’t help but wonder if the inside is as colorful and fun as the design outside.

Upon entering, you’ll notice the casual ambiance of the high-ceiling Korean BBQ restaurant.

We decided to eat in the low-ceiling corner of the resto, but it was a mistake because we were not able to see the K-pop videos being shown in the center of the resto.

K-Pub BBQ Rules |  K-Pub Ala Carte (during Lunch and Dinner after 9pm only) | K-Grub Bar Chow

We decided to take the Eat and Run for 1 hour Korean BBQ Challenge, which costs P499+ per adult, P299+ for kids, and kids below 4ft are free.

You can reserve one of the four VIP Rooms with a minimum of 10 people taking the No Limit P899+ Challenge.

Banchan (Assorted Side Dishes)Cabbage Kimchi, Mashed Potato with Egg, Onions with Chili, Cucumber Kimchi, Tofu Kimchi and Anchovies.

As with any Korean BBQ Experience, they also have unlimited servings of kimchi and vegetables. I liked the mashed potato and the kimchi (which was not too hot).

Mixed Salad Greens with House Dressing

The salad was surprisingly good. It had a sweet sesame dressing that our 3-year-old son Raphael loved.

We were surprised to meet one of our Korean stall owners in Mercato, who is now the supervisor in the K-Pub BBQ resto.

K-Pub Condiments and Lettuce with a choice of Kimchi Fried Rice or Steamed Rice

There’s a special sauce for the meat with lots of onions plus the Gochuiang or Korean chili paste. I like to put kimchi cabbage on my kimchi rice, which pairs well with the meat.

Ke Ran Ggim (Steamed Eggs)

As part of the appetizers, they served steamed scrambled eggs that tasted a bit bland.

K-Pub BBQ Meat-All-You-Can-20.jpg
Kimchi Pajeon (Kimchi Pancakes)

The Pajeon had a chewy texture and was a bit too oily, so we decided to skip it.

K-Pub BBQ Meat-All-You-Can-11.jpg
Soup of the Day

We also liked the soup; it was light and tasted like a hot Korean miso soup.

The servers are really pleasant, always willing to help you cook your meat and mindful to ask if you need any refills of the vegetables. Some of the servers are actually Korean models in K-Pop outfits.

Ssam Gyup Sal (Pork Belly)

To get things going, order your first four meats. The one-hour challenge starts when the first piece of meat touches the grill.

Don’t order the Ssam Gyup Sal. They are just thick slices of fatty pork that have a bland taste.

Dae Pae Ssam Gyup Sal (Thinly Sliced Pork Belly)

If you really want to order the pork belly slices, try the thinly sliced version. It was also a bit bland when cooked, so you need to dip it in the special sauce or eat it with kimchi.

K-Pub BBQ Meat-All-You-Can-41.jpg
Yangnyum Samkyupsal (Sweet N’Spicy Pork Belly)

Even the sweet n’ spicy marinated Samkyupsal was not good.

K-Pub BBQ Meat-All-You-Can-37.jpg
Daeji Kalbi (Tender Pork Marinated in Soy and Garlic)

This meat was also disappointing, I was hoping the soy and garlic marinade would be yummier.

★ Dak Kalbi (Sweet & Spicy Chicken Fillets)

Finally, something we liked! The marinated chicken was very good, sweet and not too spicy. You can cut it in smaller portions to have manageable, ready-to-eat pieces.

Dak Bulgogi (Marinated Chicken Fillets)

You can also order the non-spicy marinated version of the chicken.

★ Chadolbaki (Beef Sukiyaki)

I would recommend these bacon-like beef slices — a lot better than the pork.

You can also go around the resto in between cooking sessions. The Heineken bar is located on the second floor.

K-Pub BBQ Meat-All-You-Can-44.jpg
It’s a sports bar with three foosball tables.

K-Pub BBQ Meat-All-You-Can-45.jpg
The bar is the smoking section of the resto. I couldn’t stand the smoke piercing our eyes; it’s very suffocating.

K-Pub BBQ Meat-All-You-Can-48.jpg
There’s even a K-Pop souvenir store for Filipino K-Pop fans.

K-Pub BBQ Meat-All-You-Can-51.jpg
You can also eat on the second floor of the resto. It has a nice top view of the main dining area.

K-Pub BBQ Meat-All-You-Can-52.jpg
There are huge wall portraits of popular K-Pop stars waiting to be signed when they arrive in Manila.

K-Pub BBQ Meat-All-You-Can-54.jpg
CN Blue stars visited the K-pop resto and signed their portrait.

K-Pub BBQ Meat-All-You-Can-40.jpg
One hour is more than enough really for the meat-all-you-can experience. Of course, there should be no leftovers.

K-Pub BBQ Meat-All-You-Can-60.jpg
They limit the orders to two meat plates at a time. We decided to order chicken as our last meat.

K-Pub BBQ Meat-All-You-Can-61.jpg
Shike (Sweet Healthy Rice Drink)

The dessert drink was a bit too sweet. It felt like we were drinking sweetened am.

K-Pub BBQ Meat-All-You-Can-65.jpg
Overall, we love the fun ambiance and service even if we are not crazy about K-Pop. We were pleasantly surprised by the casual and family dining experience it offers.  Special thanks to Raymond for being such a cheerful and helpful server!

If you will take the Eat and Run 1 Hour Challenge, order the Dak Kalbi (Sweet & Spicy Chicken Fillets), Chadolbaki (Beef Sukiyaki), and Dae Pae Ssam Gyup Sal (Thinly Sliced Pork Belly) in that order. The side dishes, sauces, soup, and salads are really good; you can replenish as much as you want.

If you are dining with kids, you have to negotiate the “kids below 4 feet” rule because typically this criteria is only used in themed parks. They should change the rule to use age as basis instead of height. Usually, kids below 6 eat for free in buffets because they don’t eat that much.

It would be cheaper to go Ala Carte, but I’m not sure which ones are good. Let me know if you can recommend anything in the Ala Carte menu.

  1. Wow! This is amazing! The food sounds so authentic since their Ke Ran Chim is exactly that: its suppose to be bland (just like in Korea)! ^^ Hope to visit this place and I hope someone will come up with a “Hallyuwood” theme restaurant in Manila soon!

  2. Hiya! You have to be finished eating in 1 hour or you have to stop ordering in 1 hour? Thanks! 🙂

  3. One hour eat all you can session only? So you need to finish in 1 hour and bill out as well? I don’t think the price would be practical for us if we eat there. You seem like to be in hurrying mood in trying to order and eat all their dishes and you won’t definitely enjoy it if that’s the case. Clarify pls. Thanks

  4. For the Ssam Gyup Sal, wasn’t it supposed to be really bland? Then you have dipping sauces, and sesame oil with salt and pepper to dip it with.

  5. Samgyupsal is supposed to be bland, that’s why you add condiments + banchan then wrap it in a lettuce then eat it. I’ve been eating a lot of korean grilled meat and kpub has the best ones. It’s in the proper way of eating it. As a korean food fan, i find the Dak Galbi, having the least outstanding taste from the Eat and Run selection. Also, if you guys are going to take the 899, I recommend the Red Wine Samgyupsal, since its good for digestion especially for women who are on a diet. For the Kimchi Pajeon, dip it with the red chili sauce (not the gochuichang), it really taste good. And also, the egg is actually a topping for the rice. 🙂
I’ve eaten in Kpub many times and I will always come back to them not just for the ambiance as well as the food.
