When we first arrived in London, we asked around for the best places to eat in.
Good thing we had our expert Pepper Teehankee, who lives half of the time in London. He suggested this cool Spanish resto hangout called CAMBIO DE TERCIO along Old Brompton Road, which was within walking distance from where we were staying.
Check out our experience…
Our London media group stayed at the Marriott on 147 Cromwell Road, Kensington in London.
It’s located in a rich and densely populated neighborhood in the Royal Borough of Kensington.
This was our twin bed room during our stay at the London Marriott Kensington.
My roommate and food trip buddy during this London trip — Mikael Daez.
The bathrooms are white and spanking clean. 🙂
These are the aromatheraphy amenities of the hotel.
We walked on a cold night along the posh neighborhood of Kensington.
I wonder how it feels to live in London in one of these houses…
We finally arrived at the highly recommended restaurant, with a simple all-glass facade to see what’s happening inside.
The ambiance is quite romantic and very conducive for conversations.
CAMBIO DE TERCIO MENU: Traditional Tapas | Main Courses | Tasting Menu
The food features the best of Spanish cuisine from the different regions of Spain.
We started out with a glass of Cava to prepare the palate and get us in a talking mood.
It was fun doing a side-by-side shoot with Mikael, who was shooting a segment for his Midnight Snack show.
Bread, olive oil, and olives as starters, with a red candle to give that romantic vibe.
✮ Nuestras Famosas Croquetas de Jamon Iberico, Salsa de Tomate-Tomillo (£ 7.50). Our famous Iberico ham croquettes, thyme-tomato sauce.
These balls are very soft and you can really taste the flavor of the Jamon Iberico. Best to eat it with the tomato sauce.
✮ El Lingote de Foie Gras Y Oro, Mango, Macadamia Y Gelatina de Casta Diva (£ 12.50). Foie gras and GOLD terrine with mango, macadamia, and Casta Diva muscat jelly.
This gold bar is very exciting…
…it has a butter-like texture when sliced, the color of pate, and the very tasty flavor of Foie Gras.
I love spreading it on bread with bits of mango, macadamia, and Casta Diva muscat jelly.
✮ Tomates Asados “8 Horas” En Oloroso Dulce, Caviar de Albahaca, Queso de Cabra (£ 8.75). “8 hours roasted tomatoes” in sweet Oloroso wine, basil caviar, goat cheese.
We loved this too…not too sweet but very tasty tomato flavor with goat cheese.
✮ Hamburguesa Gourmet (Sin Pan) de Carrillera de Ternera, Foie Gras, Alcachofas, Nuestra Salsa Especial, Tomates Caramelizados (£ 19.50). Veal cheeks GOURMET BURGER (NO BUN), pan fried foie gras, artichokes, our secret sauce & caramelised tomatoes.
This is also interesting for those who want to eat steak but in burger form and without the bread. One thing I like about Cambio de Tercio is their combinations match perfectly, like the artichoke with foie gras and burger.
Pluma Iberica a la Brasa, Pina Asada Y Pure de Lima (£ 22.50). Flame grilled PLUMA Iberica (the finest cut form acorn feed pork) pineapple, lime puree.
This was a bit weird with pineapple and lime puree. I prefer the taste of our pork here in Manila.
We love CAMBIO DE TERCIO‘s romantic candlelight ambiance, their really good Spanish tapas and wine, and the very warm hospitality from their staff.
Our bill was £119.53, which is about P8,572.16. Divided among 3 persons, that came to around P2,857/head. A bit expensive if you convert but worth it for a dinner in London. 🙂
Here’s hoping the Cambio de Tercio group branches out in Manila!
