When in Baler, make sure to have a kamayan and boodle fight at Kusina Luntian by Kuya Biboy, a former Manileño who became a Baler local for the love of surfing.
It’s one of the best kept secret places in Baler for yummy and cheap Filipino food and booze. 🙂

We met with Jake, Ina, and Isla Versoza at Costa Pacifica. They shared with us this secret hut place in Baler.
It’s not on the main road nor along the main beach. You’ll find it near the Duongan River.
Kusina Luntian is a simple Filipino Surfers’ Hut.
Best to call in advance if Kuya Biboy is there. Check out the Kusina Luntian Menu | Also Serving at Kusina Luntian Menu
There’s no ref, so the water and drinks are cooled in styro containers with ice.
They use the traditional method of cooking rice on a kalan with charcoal.
Food is served on banana leaves binalot-style, or if you’re eating as a group, you can do a boodle fight.
A cup of rice with adobo sauce…
…topped with a half-slice of itlog na pula, a half-slice of tomato, and Baler pako.
You can have it wrapped to bring along on your day trip adventure in Baler.
✮ Akkaw Longganisa (P85) served in banana leaf with steamed rice, itlog na pula, kamatis, and pako.
Breakfast of Surfing Champions in Baler. Sarap! 🙂
It’s best eaten kamayan style. Remember to mix the salted egg with the rice and tomato.
I love eating with my bare hands. Imagine how much fun it would be eating this with your friends boodle fight style. 🙂
A group photo with Kuya Biboy. 🙂
A great place for breakfast or lunch with the family. It’s cheap but good Filipino comfort food, served in a nice bahay kubo ambiance. Best to go with your barkada for a boodle fight. 🙂

P.S. If you’re coming from Costa Pacifica, walk along the back road and turn left when you see the Yellow Fin Bar sign. Follow the winding road that leads to Don Badong St.
Hi, Anton how are you? This is a nice place to eat in native style. I used to eat with my bare hands or “Kamayan” style at Island Cove Resort in Kawit, Cavite in 1999 and at Hundred Islands Resort in Alaminos, Pangasinan in 1998 with my fellow professors at De La Salle University during Summer Break Period. I really missed our travel excursions.
Here in United States, we have a “Kamayan” style of eating Filipino foods which is House of Sisig located in Daly City, California. They are serving Filipino foods in banana leaves. This restaurant is always busy especially during weekends and holidays. There are many other nationalities who are eating in a restaurant with their bare hands also. Thanks for sharing this blog article. Have a nice day always.

That looks like a lovely experience! This is such a great find, eating like a local ranks high on my list, although I don’t always have the chance to do it. Oh, and that bottle of Jagermeister has got my name on it! 🙂
