Happy Birthday to our 4th son, Ysrael Gabriel Uy Diaz! He was born on July 15, 2014, 4.09am, a day before typhoon Glenda arrived in Manila. We’re happy that our family is now complete, after waiting for Baby Yugi for 39 weeks. 🙂
Rache woke up at 1.50am with strong contractions every 3 minutes, so we hurriedly went to Asian Hospital. Here’s a photo essay of Baby Ysrael’s birth…
We went straight to the 3rd floor Genesis Center of Asian Hospital at 2.40am. The attending physician declared that Rache was already dilated at 8cm, so she had to be transferred to the delivery room at 3.00am.
There was a lot to be done: admitting Rache to the hospital, completing paperwork, signing the consent/waiver forms, and providing information for the birth certificate.
You also have to decide if you’re availing of the free baby photos with album included in the hospital’s birthing package.
Rache was nervous because of the pain she’d experience once again, but she was determined to give birth the natural way. I’m really proud that she was able to do it for our sons.
I made sure I was always at her side to remind her to breathe and to be her pain cushion. Ouch!
It took her 5 pushes before Baby Yugi was born. Hep, hep…hooray!
I insisted on cutting our baby’s cord, so I had to follow sterile procedures and put on gloves in order to do it.
(Trade-off: You won’t be able to hold your camera so I asked one of the nurse assistants to be our photographer.)
Ysrael Gabriel weighed 3.538 kg — 7 pounds and 13 ounces (officially the heaviest of the 4 brothers).
First Mother & Son photo. 🙂 Thanks to Rache’s OB Gyne, Dra. Lilibeth Genuino (also our doctor when we had Joshua and Raphael), for a successful baby delivery.
Our first encounter. Awesome feeling to bond with your son, especially when he recognizes your voice.
We’re so grateful that he’s a healthy and normal baby boy. 🙂
Yugi’s relatively big baby foot with long toes.
Baby’s first dose of Vitamin K and his Hepatitis B shot. Terramycin was also put on his eyes to protect against infection.
After resting for 2 hours in the birthing room, Mother and Baby were transferred to the 5th floor private room to recover. Yugi with his angelic face, which smells so good! 🙂
We got our order from Mama Chows — lactation cookies, revel bars, and cupcakes — delivered just in time for Yugi’s arrival.
We made sure to collect the newspaper for our newborn son to know what happened during the time of his birth.
Typhoon Glenda (international name, Rammasun) was about to cross the Philippine Archipelago.
The 3 boys were excited to see their brother and new playmate, Sioti Yugi, for the first time!
Minecraft Master Ahya Aidan with Baby Yugi.
Master Builder Dihya Joshua with Baby Yugi. (Side story: Joshua asked his Momma, “Where is Yugi?” while looking innocently at his Momma’s still big tummy.)
Spiderboy Sahya Raphael with Baby Yugi. Raphael whispered to his Momma, ” He’s so cute.”
Baby Yugi’s first guests, Joh-an and Lot. 🙂
Dra. Vienne Saulog (our Pedia for all the boys) with Baby Ysrael.
The boys with Uncle Ninong Rommel.
Nurse Gabby (with Aidan) bringing Baby Yugi for a simple procedure at the Genesis Center.
Asian Hospital has a free dinner treat for the husband and wife on their last night. We were surprised that they still continued this promo. We last experienced this when we had Aidan in 2005.
Steak cuts with mashed potato and vegetables, and a slice of Brazo de Mercedes for dessert.
Birthday Chocolate Cake, courtesy of Uncle Rommel.
Baby Yugi’s lips are so red! 🙂 Let’s wait after a few months for the puffiness to subside.
Some more procedures before we were allowed to check out. Thankfully, Baby Yugi passed his hearing test.
Our 4 boys are like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Can’t wait to have a wacky time with all of them.
Thanks to Dr. Roland Saulog for our baby’s successful circumcision.
Thank you to Irene for bringing some food for Rache.
Thanks to Eugene and Michelle Sandejas for the lovely flowers…
…and yummy Japanese biscuits, which are like lengua de gato squares with white chocolate cream filling. All of us were fighting over the last piece.
We had to wait for 48 hours for the Newborn Screening Test. Ouch!
Now the family is complete! Thank you, God, for blessing us with 4 healthy boys. So, who looks like who? 🙂

P.S. Here are some tips when giving birth at Asian Hospital…
Make sure to decide on the name of your baby ahead of time and to bring your marriage certificate, which are both needed for the Birth Certificate in the Medical Records section.
Process your PhilHealth before checking out. You’d need the CF1 form signed by your employer, CF2 form signed by your doctor, printout of your Member Data Record, and proof of contribution for the last 3 months prior to admission.
Don’t forget to enroll your baby as the Mommy PhilHealth dependent and to get a BCG immunization receipt to take advantage of the PhilHealth Newborn package. Please note that your pediatrician should also be an accredited PhilHealth doctor.
You can request for a running bill, but the final bill with doctor’s fees less PhilHealth is generated upon discharge from the hospital.
We loved having breakfast at the Pancake House located at the lower lobby of Asian Hospital.
I also liked going to the hospital canteen for regular meals during our stay. It was open throughout the storm, providing food for all the people in the hospital.
Cafe France was also a good alternative for lunch or merienda.
Congrats Anton! Beautiful family 🙂

Congratulations on your new baby boy!
Dra. Vienne Saulog is a very good and ever reliable pedia. She was my son’s pedia and at times I forget that he is already 15 that when he gets sick, my first thought is to consult with Dra. Saulog. Needless to say, I have recommended her for pedia of all my nephews and niece.
Congratulations, Anton and Rache on your new baby boy. You have already 4 boys. I wish that the next one is girl. I will pray for that. Have a nice day always.
Congratulations…now that’s a basketball team
Congratulations on your growing family . Grabe Rache gave birth to all of your boys with no anesthesia !!! wow ! anyway , baby number 5 soon !!!
Hi Anton how are you? By the way, ang ganda at ang linis ng hospital sa Asian Hospital. Sa Alabang pala ito. When I saw the pictures, this is like Kaiser Permanente here in San Francisco Bay Area. So far, Kaiser is the one of the best hospital in United States. The only difference for Asian Hospital is that there are many fastfood chains and restaurants at the lower lobby. This is convenient to everyone. Sige, take care of your new baby. Kailan pala ang labas ng mag-ina sa hospital? Have a nice day always.
Hello! I’m a mother to be and was wondering if you could share with me the cost to give birth in Asian and also if you could refer me to your Ob Gyne. Thanks!
