KAINAN SA DALAMPASIGAN: A Must Stop Over Filipino Restaurant in Nasugbu!

KAINAN SA DALAMPASIGAN is a must stop over place when passing by Nasugbu town en route to the beautiful beaches in Nasugbu.

I remember blogging about Kainan sa Dalampasigan in 2006 when we were hunting down cool places to eat in Tagaytay and nearby areas.

We revisited the place last weekend with the 4 boys on our way to Club Punta Fuego. Here’s our experience…

The place is one big dining hall with a homey garden feel.

The man-made waterfall centerpiece sets the ambiance like you are eating along the river banks.

It is best to sit close to the kitchen to get attentive service and near the window for a nice lighting effect.

SINIGANG NA BANGUS (P375)

The sinigang was sour, light and with a good shrimp flavor like how our Tita would cook it at home.

✮ KARE-KARE (P450).

The Kare-Kare has a good saucy consistency with a balanced peanut flavor paired with the bagoong (shrimp paste).

BROCCOLI WITH BEEF (P250).

The Brocolli was crunchy and sweet, but the beef was a bit tough.

✮ BALOT SA DAHON (P250). Chicken-Pork Adobo, Garlic Fried Shrimps, Fried Tomatoes, Bagoong

We love this traditional binalot (wrapped in banana leaf) with rice soaked in Adobo sauce with big chunks of chicken, beef meat, and shrimp. Make sure to eat it with the mashed tomatoes with the bagoong for an added salty shrimp umami.

✮ DAING NA BANGUS (P375).

The fried boneless bangus was big with thick meat served with pickled vegetables.

Dip the bangus belly portion into the vinegar and then eat it with adobo rice.

Aidan was just one year old when we first visited this place and glad to be able to bring the 4 boys to taste what good Filipino Food is all about.

✮ LECHE FLAN (P150).

The custard creme is rich and decadently sweet!

Kainan sa Dalampasigan-38.jpg
✮ HALO-HALO (P90).

The halo-halo is milky sweet served with a generous mix of ingredients like macapuno bites, sago, and sweet beans.

Kainan sa Dalampasigan-40.jpg
✮ SAGO-GULAMAN (P50).

One of the best Sago Gulamans I have ever tasted with sago soaked for days in sugar and generous servings of firm gelatine.

Kainan sa Dalampasigan is still good, after all these years and survived the test of time!

It’s a great place to stop over for a home-cooked Filipino food yumminess. I would recommend to order the Binalot sa Dahon,  Kare-Kare, Daing na Bangus or Tangingue Steak.

Don’t leave without trying the desserts — lechen flan, halo-halo and sago gulaman.  But admittedly it’s just sweet.  Budget about P350/head.

Make sure to include Kainan sa Dalampasigan in your itinerary when going to the Nasugbu beaches this summer 🙂
