1. GORDA

Uptown Parade Bites

Have a pre-game night at Gorda! This family owned Fil-Mex Restaurant serves refreshing drinks paired with delicious comfort food inspired by their mother’s recipes.

“Gorda” is a Spanish word meaning fat lady, which is the children’s tease to their mom. Chill in their vintage industrial bar and enjoy big portions of good food with the barkada.

Uptown Parade Bites

Mama’s Nachos (Php 400 | Full, Php 600). Spiced Beef Estofado, Trio Local Keso Sauce, Ensalada, Jalapeno Atchara.

Ever ordered nachos without enough cheese? Not a problem at Gorda’s. You’ll run out of chips before you run out of cheese.

Uptown Parade Bites

Pollo Inasal Skillet (Php 450). Mexican Spiced Marinated Chicken Inasal, Cilantro Sinangag, Roasted Pimiento & Onion, Homemade Crema.

For the Pinoy favorites, we loved their Pollo Inasal Skillet. This dish will make you feel satisfied and full!

Uptown Parade Bites

El Ecuador de Margarita (Keg Php 900, Glass Php 320). Tequilla, Fresh Watermelon, Citrus, Rosemary Essence.

This concoction by Kalel of Liquid Maestro is a watermelon margarita that tastes like a refreshing boozy agua fresca. A must-try!

2. LIVESTOCK

Uptown Parade Bites

Pork lovers rejoice! The restaurant famed for serving one of the best crispy pata in Manila is now in Fort Bonifacio.

Now on its second branch, Livestock is a pork specialty restaurant inspired by the owner’s hog farm. Their menu is a collection of the family’s own versions of their most loved pork dishes.

Uptown Parade Bites

Pig Cheeks Bourguignon (P390)

Order their Pig Cheeks Bourguignon, an exclusive dish found only in their Uptown Parade branch. Crunchy pan-fried pork cheeks enriched with Bourguignon sauce made from a red wine base.

Uptown Parade Bites

Melt-in-your-mouth Crispy Pata (Spicy version) (Php 650)

Your favorite all-time crispy pata but with a spicy twist. Deep-fried knuckle with crackling skin and meat so tender, you can even slice it with a popsicle stick! The spicy version is served with chimichurri, Sunday, and spicy garlic sauce.

The skin crackles with every bite while the meat is tasty and moist, making us want to dig in for more! Best eaten with rice, and remember to save the skin for last. 🙂

3. HOOK by Todd English

Uptown Parade Bites

Get ready for the first raw seafood bar in the Philippines, with mouthwatering selections of fresh Aklan oysters, uni, tuna, salmon, shrimps, and crabs that any seafood lover would rave about!

Hook by Todd English is a spin-off of the raw bar at the Food Hall, focusing on borderless seafood cuisine. Treat yourself to Japanese, Chinese, Western, and European style dishes that’ll satisfy your cravings.

Uptown Parade Bites

We loved it’s nautical theme interiors complete with port holes that mimic a submarine window.

Uptown Parade Bites

Oysters

Happy hour is from 4-7pm serving dollar (P50) oysters and an encore at 10-12 midnight. Add P600, and you’ll get unlimited bubbly drinks to go with that!

Flown fresh from Aklan, the oysters are perfectly chilled and topped with three kinds of ice crushed granitas. They have yuzu ponzu, cilantro lime, and apple Sriracha.

Creamy, rich, and smooth oysters! Our favorite is the apple Sriracha, but I also like to mix it up with the cilantro lime every once in a while.

Uptown Parade Bites

Seafood 3-tier tower

SeaFoodgasm!!! This is a seafood lover’s dream! Imagine a three-tier seafood tower filled with…

Uptown Parade Bites

…jalapeno, clam ceviche, crab, uni, and ikura and tuna poke…

Uptown Parade Bites

…mussels with kimchi, peeled shrimp with cocktail sauce, salmon with scallion jam…

Uptown Parade Bites
…and oysters with three granitas, crab and scallop dynamite sauce, and caviar, tuna with candied walnuts and lime aioli!

4. CHAR

Uptown Parade Bites

Char is a Singaporean restaurant serving specialty Cantonese roast meats using a unique blend of Asian and Western techniques.

The name “Char” is taken from char siew (Chinese BBQ Pork) and also lines up with the roasting of meat. Check out their Special Char Siew, Crispy Roast Pork Belly, and Buttered Prawns.

Uptown Parade Bites

Special Char Siew (300g Php 450, 100g Php 150)

Their bestseller is their Special Char Siew. Our first bite was such a treat; you can feel the salty-sweet of the sauce sticking to your tongue, then followed by a glistening piece of fatty Char Siew that almost melts in your mouth.

Very flavorful with a lovely charred taste that was not overbearing in any way.

We also loved that they don’t add any unnatural coloring to their meats, hence the blackened outer skin. Best eaten with plain rice!

Uptown Parade Bites

Butter Prawns (Php 420)

For their seafood selection, we loved their buttered prawns! Generous portions of deep-fried prawns with a yummy dressing of sweet evaporated milk, fried curry leaves, and chili padi.

Sweet, juicy, and buttery! The crispy prawns are just as addictive.

5. SWEET ECSTACY

Uptown Parade Bites

Sweet Ecstacy started in 2012 as an adult milk & cookie café until one day, one of the partners–Al Galang–decided to serve one of the best, honest-to-goodness burgers you can find in the metro today.

What makes Sweet Ecstasy burgers special is their “honest” burger philosophy and, of course, their secret sauce.

Uptown Parade Bites

The patties are made fresh every morning (not frozen) using prime cuts of short rib, sirloin, and briskets that help create that perfect blend of fat and texture.

The “secret sauce” is made from every condiment you would want in a burger: ketchup, salt, mayo, relish, and a secret pickled something blended up in a perfect ratio.

Here are the not so usual favorites you can find at Sweet X….

Uptown Parade Bites

Steamburger (Php 205)

A favorite on their secret menu. This burger is the purest burger they have. An enclosed burger with the juices coming from the beef and onions steamed into the buns creating this moist clump of sandwich that makes everything taste like the meat!

Uptown Parade Bites

Grilled cheese – Cheeseburger (P295)

Their grilled cheese – cheeseburger are two burger patties wrapped in two individual grilled cheese sandwich buns! That’s twice the cheese and meat!

Untitled

Sriracha Lime Wings (P245)

You know beer batter? Well, the next level is when you deep-fry something with 40% alcohol content.

Try the extra crisp Sriracha wings deep-fried with vodka! Sweet but with just the right amount of spiciness that we Pinoys love.

P.S. You’ll only know the secret menu items exist if someone tells you or find them on Instagram. Secret kasi. 😉

6. PAMPAS LATINO BISTRO & BAR

Uptown Parade Bites

Pampas is a casual South-American restaurant and wine bar that aims to satisfy guests with their specialized spiced up steaks, asador parrilla grilled meats, and favorite comfort food.

With modern colonial style interiors and comfy cushions, you’ll want to relax with their great music while enjoying drinks and sharing big portions of good food with friends.

Uptown Parade Bites

What’s exciting about Pampas is their one-of-a-kind appetizer trolley cart inspired by the dim sum carts you would find in a Chinese restaurant.

While customers are waiting for their main course, they are free to choose from whichever scrumptious appetizers they want. We suggest getting the oysters, tacos, empanadas, croquettes, and mixed chips.

Uptown Parade Bites

Baked Oysters (Php 360) | Oyster Granitas (Php 360)

Order the oysters! They are always fresh. Prepared in two ways–one with a cilantro lime granita and baked oysters with cilantro hollandaise sauce.

The granita gives a decidedly Southeast Asian flavor to the oysters while the creamy hollandaise sauce is a refreshing take on the usual cheese topping.

Uptown Parade Bites

Mixed Chips and Salsa (P90)

The team loved their mixed chips with basic salsa. Assorted root crops, sweet potatoes, taro, and potato all made in Pampas.

Uptown Parade Bites

Beef Falda (Php 570). Slow Charcoal Roasted US Beef short plate.

With the same roasting style commonly used in South America, the slow-roasting process delivers you with a fuller flavor.

Pair it with their homemade molé sauce. We also liked the pickled vegetables that help cut through the meat.

7. SALVATORE CUOMO

Uptown Parade Bites

Salvatore Cuomo is named after the celebrated Italian-Japanese chef who has catapulted Neapolitan pizza to fame in Asia. The premium casual Italian restaurant with Japanese influences offers customers the simple yet delicious Italian fare with a beautiful ambiance.

They take pride in serving the most authentic Neapolitan Pizza in Manila–cooked in a brick oven, using only buffala cheese.

Uptown Parade Bites

Quattro Formaggi (Php 770). 4 Kinds of Cheese.

Our favorite is this Quatro formaggi, which is eaten with honey just like in Napoli. The Neapolitan Pizza is never crispy, very light on the stomach, and soft in the center. You have to fold it to eat it.

Uptown Parade Bites

Porchetta (Php 650)

Their homemade porchetta is golden in color with a mouth-watering aroma coming from the roasted spices. The marriage of flavors for both the meat and the spices were divine. Tender, delicious meat with a crisp skin offering a variety of texture and flavor.

8. PALATE

Uptown Parade Bites

From the kitchens of Alain Ducasse in Paris and Jean-Georges Vongerichten in New York, Chef Kaye Torres will take you on a journey of flavors with Palate, a French-Mediterranean concept featuring traditional French cooking techniques but plated in a very modern way that could only be described as “art”.

Get out your phones, for this Instagram-worthy restaurant will surprise you with its chic white walls and decors paired with colorful dishes that’ll pop out of your table.

Uptown Parade Bites

Beet Salad (P325). Three ways beet salad, goat cheese, honey, lemon vinaigrette, and soft-boiled egg.

One of their signature dishes is the beet salad. A three-way salad which has jelly, roasted, and glazed beets. Prepared in a way that the earthy flavor was removed but replaced with a citrus and sweet note.

The beets jelly and egg yolk became almost part of the lemon vinaigarette dressing. We loved how the combination of flavors and texture pops out of your mouth.

Uptown Parade Bites

Halibut (P770). Pan-seared with hollandaise & market vegetables.

Perfectly cooked halibut with a butter crust on top that melts once you take a bite of the fish.

Uptown Parade Bites

Frozen Créme (Php 280). Caramel nest, vanilla creameux, and assorted fruits.

Our favorite is Chef Kaye’s fun take on the traditional Créme Brule.

The frozen creme brulee itself is not too sweet, then accompanied by a vanilla creameux, fresh fruits, and fried banana. On top is a lovely caramel nest. If you don’t like the sweetness, you can take it out, but I prefer to have that extra crunch.

9. DENNY’S

Uptown Parade Bites

America’s famous diner, open 24/7, serving your favorite affordable all-day breakfast items! From the Original Grand Slam, to pancakes, skillets, and burgers!

Founded by Harold Butler, Denny’s opened its doors in 1953 with its first store in California and has grown into 1600 stores located in Canada, Mexico, Latin America, United Arab Emirates, and most recently, the Philippines via The Bistro Group.

Uptown Parade Bites

The Grand Slamwich (P395)

The ultimate favorite! We love this breakfast sandwich packed with a spread of scrambled eggs, crumbled sausages, bacon, shaved ham, and American cheese then grilled with maple spice.

Crispy on the outside with a nice blend of salty-sweet flavors. Served with fries.

Uptown Parade Bites

All-American Slam (Php 395)

Now serving with hashbrowns! Enjoy the classic scrambled eggs with cheddar cheese, bacon strips, sausages, and toast.

Uptown Parade Bites

Choco Overload Peanut Butter Pancake Plate (Php 395)

Silky and extra puffy pancakes that we love, made even more decadent with rich chocolate fudge and black & white choco chips filling, topped with gooey peanut butter sauce that’ll surely to satisfy anyone’s sweet chocolate craving.

The salty bacon, eggs, and hashbrowns go well with the sweetness of the pancakes.

The kids will love this!

10. NAMOO HOUSE

Uptown Parade Bites

Craving for some Korean BBQ? Namoo by the Maple Tree House Chain of South Korea will satisfy you with their premium Korean barbecue choices, assuring customers with the same recipe that they serve in Seoul.

The interiors were my favorite part of the restaurant–walls stacked with soju bottles and a screen of maple branches welcoming you as you enter.

Uptown Parade Bites

Marinated Boneless Short Ribs (Php750 per 150 grams)

Their bestseller is the short ribs in a fruit marinade composed of pineapples, pear, soy sauce, and another secret ingredient. The fruits add that burst of sweetness, and its acidity helps tenderize the meat.

Uptown Parade Bites

The owner insisted eating it with pineapples that we found to complement the meat well. Cooked medium well with a sweet caramelized finish, it’s the most flavorful dish on their menu that Pinoys will surely enjoy.
