Gelāre, known for the best natural ice cream and waffles in Perth, Australia, opens its flagship All-Day Breakfast and Dessert Cafe in the cinema level of Uptown Mall. The name is an Italian word for the final step in the process of making ice cream which means “to freeze” or “congeal.”
The ice cream is prepared using real milk and cream, with real flavor and no artificial ingredients. It has a creamy smooth and dense (with less air) texture. The waffle is crunchy on the outside and has a good bite. The waffle & ice cream combination is irresistible.
We tried almost all the flavors and most items on the menu, and here are our favorites:

From the outside, it looks like an ordinary ice cream shop with simple interiors and a communal counter table in the middle.
Gourmet Ice Cream
Single Scoop (1 Flavour – P120) / Double Scoop (2 Flavours – P199).
Our favorite hands down is the Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and the Honey Malt Crunch.
They provide the nutritional information of their ice in their website: Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, and Honey Malt Crunch.
They have a dairy-free & vegan ice cream line that’s clean tasting, smooth and 100% lactose friendly.
Our favorites are the Green Tea Turn for cleansing the palate and Lychee Lane Sorbet as the kid’s choice.
I would also recommend the Strawberry if you like something fruity or Macadamia Nut for something creamy nutty.
(Trivia: They use a conical scooper to get a densely packed scoop and served it slightly warmer to allow its creaminess to melt.)
Waffles
The waffles are cooked upon order with their unique waffle base made from natural ingredients served with cream and their signature maple syrup.
A la Mode Treat (P280). Classic waffle & single scoop ice cream
One scoop is enough, but you can ask for two and an extra maple syrup which is quite addicting.
Our favorite flavor is Waffle with Honey Malt Crunch with chocolate sauce and maple syrup. So good!
All Day Breakfast
Waffle & Buttermilk Chicken with Gravy (P329).
They also serve all-day breakfast and the best one is Waffle and Buttermilk Chicken combination created by Chef Aileen Anastacio for Gelāre Manila.
Eggs Ben (P299).
The Eggs Benedict Waffle is also quite good if you like a savory waffle in the morning or before watching an afternoon movie.
Affogato (P158) Lemon Lime Bitters (P120).
For drinks, I would recommend the affogato of Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough with a shot of espresso made from Gelāre’s signature coffee brew.
To refresh your palate after eating all that creamy ice cream, order the Lemon Lime Bitters drink.
If you have four boys or in the company of your barkada, order the FTW ice cream bowl to fight over 14 different flavors of Gelāre Ice Cream 🙂
Final Thoughts
Overall, Gelāre’s ice cream and waffle are one of the best dessert combinations in Manila!
For ice cream, we would recommend Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Honey Malt Crunch, Strawberry and Macadamia Nut. For the dairy-free & vegan ice cream, we like Green Tea Turn and Lychee Lane Sorbet.
Personally, my favorite would be the Waffle with Honey Malt Crunch with Affogato of Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough.
Also, try their Waffle & Buttermilk Chicken with Gravy for an all-day breakfast treat. Budget about P400/head.
It’s perfect for a dessert place in Uptown Mall or having a satisfying meal before watching a movie.

Never heard of Gelare Anton but those waffles look yummy. And I love gelato. Match made in heaven. Enjoy it!
