The Complete Canyoneering Adventure in Badian and Alegria, Cebu!

Yup! You read that right! You can now experience the whole canyoneering tour in both Badian and Alegria with @happyjuanderer.

The canyoneering tour will now kick off in the Alegria river downstream going through Badian and ends in Kawasan falls.

And If you’ve been to south Cebu recently, then you might be aware of the dispute between the town of Alegria and Badian which has split the canyoneering experience into two parts which in turn has confused a lot of tourists.

Anyway, moving forward! The two towns have finally agreed to join forces through their bridging gap (@happyjuanderer), and you can now finally experience the whole canyoneering tour like how it initially started.

All guests are accompanied by local accredited guides, and you start your tour in the Alegria registration office.

Inside the office, they will issue an electronic (Waterproof) wrist strap that will serve as your ticket to enter the Alegria canyoneering start point.
Note: You can bring home the wrist strap as a souvenir!

You will then take a much shorter 5 to 10min habal-habal ride to a briefing center which also serves as the start point of the canyoneering.

Usually, Badian groups would start at the church parking lot where a habal-habal driver will pick them up.

From here on out you will then be accompanied by both Badian and Alegria guides.

Right off the bat, you will be greeted by a much higher cliff jump compared to Badian’s starting point.

In here you will find one of the tallest jump in both Alegria and badian.

And If I remember correctly, Alegria has around 5-6 major jumps that Badian tourists are missing out.

In my opinion, Alegria has some of the bluest waters in the whole river tour.

Not to mention they also have the longest natural water slide.

And of course! Towering canyon walls that are twice the height of Badians.

45mins in and after a couple of major jumps and slide later! We finally crossed paths with the flock of tourist at the Badian starting point.

From here on out everything is pretty much the same for everyone.

Blessed with majestic blue waters, the Kanlaob river also known as Matutinao River and Kawasan falls is possibly the 2nd most popular tour (next to whalesharks) in South Cebu.

But unlike the swimming with whale sharks in Oslob, here your journey will involve lots walking.

climbing slippery and rocky routes, admiring the beauty of Mother Nature,

and of course, swimming and floating along the rushing and soothing river currents.

most importantly, conquering your fears by experiencing the exhilaration of cliff diving or jumping off waterfalls.

The whole activity is estimated to take 4-6 hours, which depends on the size of the group and whether the group wants to take tons of photos during their tour.

For the Happy Juanderer’s package, they assign one guide for every four guests and then 1 sweeper, since they highly value everyone’s safety.

Safety first! We were provided with life vests and helmets with our package. Knowing how to swim isn’t really needed, as the life jackets act as a floater.

Make sure to wear sandals with straps, aqua shoes, or rubber shoes that are ok for submerging in water and taking on slippery rocks.

There are many lakes and waterfall throughout the tour, and each and every one of them is unique.

Like this fairytale-like dam that glows blue and green whenever the sun hits the icy cold blue waters.

And just like that! After five hours of canyoneering, we jumped off an estimated 35-ft. Waterfall to Kawasan 2 and our exhausting yet fulfilling hike was rewarded with a delicious Pinoy buffet.

With a matching magnificent view of the famous “Gatorade Factory” or the mighty Kawasan Falls.

Overall, Badian canyoneering is still my favorite adventure activity in the whole Philippines. I’ve probably done the tour up to 5 times already and each time I go through the canyons I still get excited same exact feeling whenever I see the blue waters and the mystical scenery that it offers.

The Alegria add-on just adds more awesomeness to this already AWESOME fun-filled experience. Plus, you get to experience best of both worlds from Alegria & Badian,

And given a chance I would totally do the tour all over again, A must visit for every adventure and thrill seeker out there! 10/10 I would highly recommend.
