Holiday Inn Express, the first of its kind in the Philippines, opened this July 2018. Located in Newport City, the hotel provides convenience for smart and savvy business travelers with its close proximity to the airport. This differs from the Holiday Inn in Makati, as the Express focuses on limited services at a reasonable price.
Holiday Inn Express is a globally recognized brand that focuses on three things – safety, comfort, and service. The old Remington Hotel has been refurbished to match the look and feel of all HiEx branches across the world.
I stayed for a night to experience the convenience they have to offer…

Holiday Inn Express is part of the InterContinental Hotels Group, which allows you to collect and redeem points if you’re part of their rewards club.
Upon completion, HiEx Newport Manila will house 736 rooms, the biggest offering in Southeast Asia.
Not all the rooms are finished yet, so you may hear some construction noises especially in the afternoon.
The lobby is still the same one from the old Remington.
THE ROOM
To make decision-making easier, HiEx provides just two room options. The first is a Twin Room, which houses two single beds and a corner seating area.
My room was a Deluxe Room, which had a queen-sized bed…
and a pull-out sofa bed.
They provide two key cards: one for elevator access, and the other for room access. Promising security, guests can only access the rooms on their floor.
Room 0372 has a view of the atrium, which I find to be a more suitable option than a view of the city, especially if you need to take your mind off of work for a short while.
The rooms come with the standard coffee and tea making facilities.
There’s also a work desk at one corner. HiEx has dedicated routers per room, making their Wi-Fi access very reliable.
Along with a safety deposit box and a small fridge.
The rooms don’t come with any closets, but there’s a nook with a rod to hang clothes and a small bench for any pieces of luggage.
The beds are firm and come with a comfortable duvet. I was able to get a good shuteye and I didn’t have to wake up with the sunlight flooding the room, thanks to the blackout curtains.
But what I loved most about HiEx is their dedication to comfort. The pillows are labeled firm and soft, according to your preference. I personally liked the firm pillows as they hold their shape better, providing better neck support.
USB ports are conveniently located beside the bed too.
The toilet and shower are fitted with a standard handheld hot and cold shower.
Love this lighted mirror! Hotels with well-lit vanity areas are always a plus in my book.
AMENITIES
Other hotel facilities include a 24-hour coin-operated laundry.
The fitness center has limited equipment so it can get packed easily.
There’s also a small meeting room, in case you need it.
The breakfast buffet is situated in the lobby café, which I find to be a not-so-ideal location.
Choices can vary from the standard breakfast eggs…
…to chicken adobo…
…some side dishes…
…and cereal.
I had to leave early though so I just had some pastries from their Grab & Go section. An excellent service if you need to be on the road early.
FINAL THOUGHTS
Overall, I love that HiEx is finally in Manila. The beds are comfortable and the Wi-Fi is reliable. Especially its proximity to the airport – NAIA T3 is a 10-minute walk via the Runway Manila bridge. HiEx is definitely one of my top choices if ever I need to stay close to the airport to catch a morning flight.
Congrats to Resorts World Manila for bringing in Holiday Inn Express!

P.S. Be sure to ask for the renovated rooms when you check-in, lest you wanna be billeted at the old Remington rooms.
Hi!
I enjoy reading your reviews of hotels and restaurants in the Philippines and even outside of the country. However, not naming any prices to at least give the reader an idea what to expect, makes the reviews a let-down. To describe how your experience has been is well and good but it does not help the reader make a decision or get into action – shall I put this hotel/resort/restaurant in my soon-to-visit list not having a clue as to how much the experience will cost as price has a major influence on whether you would want to visit a place or not.
OK thank you for the feedback! Really awesome to get this feedback. Will try to add est. prices which often changes thru seasons.
