Siama Hotel is one of the most visually stunning and beautifully designed hotels that we’ve had the pleasure of visiting. Inspired by the charming countryside of Sorsogon PHL, Siama seamlessly blends natural and modern architecture into a space that is calm and relaxed yet, at the same time, bold and welcoming.
Sustainability and nature, which are reflected throughout the entire hotel, were the main inspirations that went into the design.
Locally sourced materials were used in its construction, and great care was taken to ensure that the hotel has as small an impact on the surrounding environment as possible.
But looks alone isn’t what makes Siama one of our favorite hotels. The service and food are top-notch, and Siama is a great starting point if you plan to visit the many tourist attractions in Sorsogon.
Quietly tucked away on the outskirts of Sorsogon City in the Province of Bicol, Philippines, Siama is a destination perfect for those who appreciate nature, great food and great company.

The Designer
Milo Naval, owner of OMO Furniture, is a renowned and multi-awarded furniture designer. His designs have garnered acclaim from around the world, and his love for the environment reflects throughout his large body of work.
An avid environmentalist, his main inspiration is nature, and his creations are a well balanced mix of design, function and practicality.
His personal philosophy is thoroughly expressed in the design of Siama, which he refers to as the home that he and his wife built for their children.
Blending Design With Nature
Siama’s design is simple yet elegant, and a great deal of effort was made to make sure that the building blends seamlessly with the surrounding environment.
Milo’s love for nature is evident everywhere.
Even the large pool, with its rectangular shape and hard angles, goes well with the foliage.
Not having the walls painted gives the building a modern look and feel. It is also reminiscent of provincial homes, which are not typically painted, in the area.
The wood accents definitely warm up the spaces and soften the hard angles of the building, bringing nature into the space.
Milo’s signature furniture designs are on full display throughout the hotel.
The lobby and receiving area feel very homely, and it’s easy to just relax for a while and read a good book or catch up with work.
Almost everything in Siama is sourced locally, including the materials that went into this eye-catching lamp made from the husks of Pili Nuts/Pili Kernels.
The Rooms
The design philosophy of Siama is also carried over into the rooms which are beautifully designed, warm and functional.
Deluxe King Room perfect for couples. The open space makes the room feel a lot bigger than it already is. The sliding door opens to a balcony that brings the outdoors into the room.
Request a garden level for easy pool access.
We stayed in the Double Room on the second floor. The beds were very comfortable and the air conditioning worked perfectly. We requested for a bathroom curtain for privacy as the restroom has no door.
With a large group? We recommend the Mixed Dormitory Room that can accommodate 6 people comfortably.
The restrooms of the hotel are pretty much the standard, well spaced and not cramped. However, there are no doors separating the restroom from the main living space. A pull curtain is used instead.
Local Cusine
What really stood out for us was how great the food was. I personally haven’t had much exposure to Bicolano cuisine except for “Bicol Express” which can be found in almost every canteen in Manila these days. I can say whole heartedly that the food served at Siama is one of the best resort food out there today.
Breakfasts are your typical Filipino fare. But the ingredients are sourced locally as much as possible.
We really loved the Siama Wraps. Galunggong fish with cheese, Pako (a type of fern that grows near freshwater), fresh Pili nuts and cucumber with radish and red vinegar honey sauce. (Absolutely amazing!)
As expected, Bicol Express is on the menu; however, the kitchen serves up variants of this popular regional dish like their “Laing Bicol Express.”
This dish blew us away and really got us intrigued with Bicolano cuisine. Tinutungan, which translates to burnt coconut, is a dish that typically consists of a protein cooked in coconut milk, spices and burnt coconut. The flavors are rich and savory, all carried by the taste of toasted coconut.

Final Thoughts
Siama is a gem quietly tucked away in the beautiful countryside of Sorsogon. The location is perfect if you want to explore the many tourists destinations around the region.
What really stood out is the beauty of the resort and the chance to personally meet Mr. Milo, who helped us to understand his appreciation for nature and Siama itself.
We recommend staying here if you are in the area. Expect great food, great design and great company.
