Your Guide to the Happiest Beach in Cebu!

OAP-Happy Beach-0007

From the founders of Inflatable Island in Subic, and the team that brought the iconic “Pink Bali Lounge” and also the same brains behind The Dessert Museum, comes “The Happy Beach,” a boutique resort located in Mactan, Cebu.

FIRST THINGS FIRST

How to get there

  1. Take a taxi from Mactan International Airport to Angasil Port, right beside Mactan Newtown. The ride will take about 20-30 minutes, depending on traffic in the Mactan area.
  2. From Angasil Port, happy boats are available to take you to Happy Beach. The boat ride takes less than 10 minutes. The roundtrip fee is ₱ 50 per head.

As soon as you arrive, there are already reminders for the Island Rules.

OAP-Happy Beach-6581

And also the Pool Rules.

Wristbands are claimed at the reception area.

BEACH PASS

OAP-Happy Beach-0035

The Beach Pass gives access to the Mactan Beach, the Animal Cabanas, the Floating Zoo, and the Bali Lounge.

OAP-Happy Beach-6313

The Pink Bali Lounge is furnished with two-tone pink bean bags and a small table for every spot. Perfect Instagram background, don’t you think?

Spots are on a first-come, first-serve basis. If you don’t feel comfortable leaving your stuff around, lockers are available for rent.

INFLATABLE ISLAND

OAP-Happy Beach-0014

The main highlight of Happy Beach is their Floating Playground which boasts of not one, but two concepts in one location.

OAP-Happy Beach-0018

Inflatable Island, the larger of the two, includes a Giant Tarzan Swing and Slide, Happy Swing, Wobbly Bridge, Wrecking Ball, and Leap of Faith.

Playground Map

Unicorn Island has the same layout as the one in Subic, which includes The Wavy Dinosaur, the Rainbow Walk, Mini Jump and Fly, Climby the Seaunicorn, and Baba’s Super Slide.

Unfortunately for us, the weather wasn’t in our favor during our visit so we didn’t get to try it.

Access to these inflatables are on a timed basis and requires purchase of the Beach Pass. Rates are as follows:

SPRINKLE (+ ₱ 299) – 1 HOUR Play Time on Inflatable + Unicorn Island
SPLASH (+ ₱ 499) – 2 HOUR Play Time on Inflatable + Unicorn Island
SPRAY (+ ₱ 699) – HALF DAY ACCESS to Inflatable + Unicorn Island
SOAKED (+ ₱ 1,299) – WHOLE DAY ACCESS to Inflatable + Unicorn Island, with lunch feast, and free beach towel rental

OAP-Happy Beach-6531

The Inflatable Island has a strict NO VEST, NO ENTRY policy. Life jackets are provided for free.

PINK POOL

OAP-Happy Beach-6550

The Pink Pool stands at 6ft. deep, and is already rigged out with giant floaters.

OAP-Happy Beach-6320

And these cute unicorn drink holders.

OAP-Happy Beach-6367

The pool is rather small so it can get crowded fast. Access to the Pink Pool is exclusive to checked-in guests, and those with a Happy Jungle Lounge pass.

OAP-Happy Beach-6510

The pool transforms into a neon party jungle at night!

OAP-Happy Beach-6535

The Happy Jungle Lounge is a paid lounging area outfitted with daybeds and neon trees. I find that it doesn’t provide a lot of shade though.

OAP-Happy Beach-6302

Whole day use of one daybed is at ₱ 1,500 for up to 4 pax. This includes access to the Pink Pool, free towel rental, and a Tampipi feast good for 2. You can bring your own towels, but in case you forget, towels can be rented at ₱ 150 each.

OAP-Happy Beach-6376

The staff’s always dressed in tropical prints too.

OAP-Happy Beach-6381

Best spot for drinks on the island!

DINING

OAP-Happy Beach-6304

Mango Mama is The Happy Beach’s in-house restaurant which features an Asian fusion menu.

Mango Mama Menu: Soup, Starters, Vegetable, Seafood / Rice, Meat, Desserts / Drinks / Hard Spirits

OAP-Happy Beach-6293

The restaurant’s interiors are almost 90% pink and with 10% splashes of green and teal.

OAP-Happy Beach-08428

Towering flamingos, and hanging upside down potted plants decorate the interior. Don’t worry, the plants are fake!

OAP-Happy Beach-6536

They also have an outdoor dining area.

OAP-Happy Beach-6298

I love their Salted Egg Shrimp and Yang Chow Fried Rice!

OAP-Happy Beach-6516

For our set breakfast, they served it in a tic-tac-toe style. A complete breakfast is served in 9 square ramekins. The eggs are really fluffy! I found the rice is difficult to eat though, as it spills all over the place when I spoon it.

OAP-Happy Beach-6329

Soon to open is The Grill which will serve barbecue items.

WHERE TO STAY

OAP-Happy Beach-6234

Apart from the pool and beach, Happy Beach also has a 16-room boutique hotel. The Happy Beach stands in the old Tambuli Beach Club location. Most of the old structures are still there but given a bright pink finish.

OAP-Happy Beach-6244

We stayed in Room 104. The keys come in this waterproof cellphone protector with a map of the property. These have to be surrendered upon checkout.

OAP-Happy Beach-6211

How cute are these bright teal windows and door? There’s no Wi-Fi yet and Mobile data reception is difficult to come by inside the room, so most of my time was spent outside in these chairs.

OAP-Happy Beach-6568

It’s also another ideal OOTD spot.

OAP-Happy Beach-08421

The room has one Queen bed with a pullout, and one double deck. At most, the room can fit six people.

OAP-Happy Beach-6240

Even the other room’s furniture are equally as quirky.

OAP-Happy Beach-08425

The restroom is bathed in even more pink. Pink walls and tiles, a marble-tiled counter, and an armchair fitted with a flamingo throw pillow.

OAP-Happy Beach-6356

There’s also a Purple Bali Lounge right by the rooms.

Room rates start at ₱ 5,999. This includes overnight accommodation good for 4 (2 adults, 2 kids), free breakfast for 2, 1 full day access to the pool and other beach attractions and a discounted rate to the Inflatable and Unicorn Island.

FINAL TIPS & THOUGHTS

Our stay at Happy Beach was definitely a unique experience. From the very pink rooms and restaurant, to the feel good music, and down to the delightful food – we are definitely going to be back.

Here our some of our tips:

  1. Don’t forget the sunblock and sunnies.
  2. Arm yourself with a lot of outfits if you want to take a lot of OOTDs. Just make sure you have something that fits their dress code if you want to swim.
  3. A day trip is already enough if you just want to swim and enjoy the inflatable pool.
  4. Bring your own towels.
  5. Prepare for weather changes. Bring a waterproof bag for your electronics in case it rains.

  1. Hello, may I know how much is the Taxi fare from Mactan airport to Angasil port? Hoping for your response. Thank you. 🙂

  2. These room rates seem very high for basic cottage type rooms and more priced at 5star Manila hotel rates. These rooms posted in this blog are they the day beach rooms are the actual overnight rooms for this place. Also it seems with the price it still doesn’t include all day access to everything atleast the way it’s broken down in this blog. Sorry I dont see what makes the high prices for rooms with also not including all access to everything offered and can’t be just for the floating playground. Especially of compared to say skypool cebu with a playground also all included with rooms under 3000 a night. I can see out of towners probaly mostly Chinese or Korean or tourist paying this price but not locals and I hope not American tourist since it’s the price to Disney land Orlando. Is their anything else included or offers sorry I just dont see the value in it at all. I am checking since for some reason my Philippines family want to see this place I think more due to being pink or never seen a floating playground I guess something that can be rented atleast in American for the weekend for half the price to inflate at home or on a beach or they setup for you so I guess since it’s a new local experience of something never seen but probably why no refunds also when it doesn’t live up to what people expect. Which most places that dont offer a refund usually that’s the reason
