The Grid is the latest venture of Charles Paw, founder and CEO of the Tasteless Group, the same brains behind Century City Mall’s Hole in the Wall. Food halls and food parks have burgeoned over the last few years, all with their aggressive branding and marketing. But for the majority, their over-the-top ideas took the front seat; and quality, the back seat.

The Grid focuses less on trendy and experimental food concepts, but more on familiar cuisine done with expertise. That being said, this food hall brings together some of Manila’s culinary industry’s most prominent names.

 

 

We recently tried @gochugangph ‘s legit Ram-Don. Homemade similar to tsukemen noodles covered in a house blend sauce of Black bean and Chili paste. Topped with perfectly cooked medium rare tenderloin steak! Another dish we love is the Haianese Chicken! Good thing they have it in Babu! We also recommend @samyanph for their legit Thai food and @workshop_ph for that perfect sweet ending!

The TPK menu is especially created by Executive Chef Regina “Ging” Carsi Cruz, who trained at the California Culinary Academy.  It’s not your ordinary take out food that you can get from a restaurant. The food is designed for celebrations at home or in the office and carefully planned to be transported.

Tim Ho Wan is a Michelin Star hole-in-the-wall eatery in Hongkong, famous for Baked Pork Buns.

I love the clean and high quality taste of the dishes! It’s great that they import almost all their ingredients or create them in-house to make sure there’s no compromise in the taste. Most of all, I love their awesome pricing of less than P200 per dish, which is quite competitive.

Order the Baked Buns with BBQ Pork, Hakaw, Pork Dumpling with Shrimp, Radish Cake,  Spareribs Rice, Beancurd Skin with shrimp and pork, and Glutinous Rice with Lotus Leaf. Try the Cold Barley Drink for something refreshing.

Hawker Chan

What was once a humble hawker stall from Singapore, Hawker Chan, is now a fast-growing Michelin-star restaurant across the globe. Originally called Liao Fan Hong Kong Soya Sauce Chicken Rice Noodle, the name Hawker Chan was adapted for its dine-in restaurants following the global expansion.

Chef-owner Chan Hong Meng first opened in Singapore’s Chinatown in 2009. Eight years later, he earned his first Michelin Star for the signature Soya Chicken Rice.

Order the Thai Style Tofu and the Any 3 Combination Platter (Soy Chicken, Char Siew, Roasted Pork) to get a taste of everything plus a side of rice or my fave noodles. This is a good place if you’re looking for a quick, hearty lunch.

I’m on a See Food Diet!  Who misses Zamboanga Curacha crab and their addicting Alavar Sauce?

@astridstable Mixed Seafood Full Platter comes with, Curacha Crab, Chilean Black Mussels, Shrimp and Corn in their special sauce. The sauce is a mix of Alavar Sauce and their secret recipe to make it their own.

The crabs, they use are Zamboanga curacha crabs and for the mussels, they use black mussels which is fatter and tastier than the usual green ones.The sauce is made with coconut milk and is best paired with rice! My rice was literally bathing in sauce.

Salta! By Pappare

Lechon Haus is a QSR pioneer in serving the Pinoy favourite traditional fresh prime cut belly Lechon with branches nationwide and “abot-kaya” prices. I liked the spiciness on the meat. It’s already flavorful, no need to dip it in too much sarsa. Best eaten with suka and a squeeze of clamansi

The pork sisig was also good, Their version is made of lechon meat. There’s plenty of “atay” (liver) just the way I like it.
