DOBRO by Marko Batricevic at Bonifacio Gilid (A Review)

DOBRO, which means “good” in Serbian, is the cloud kitchen initiative serving Serbian comfort good in Manila by Marko Batricevic, formerly of Balkan Restaurant fame. This is a pandemic-born business created to address the craving for good grilled Balkan cuisine in Manila during quarantine.

Did you know that you can reserve and use their private dining room upstairs?

Bonifacio Gilid Community

Dobro is located in Bonifacio Gilid which is the next hip location for food, just a short bike or scooter ride away from BGC.

On the ground floor is the cloud kitchen operation exclusive for delivery. During the lockdown, they had to create a custom griller from Baguio to achieve a nice grilled outer layer and a juicy, tasty inside layer.

Budget about ₱500/head, and check out their weekly promotions.

This is the room where it happens (at the 3rd floor).

You can reserve this for your group of 4-6 friends to hang out privately and just pay for your Balkan food order. You can even bring your own drinks.

Balkan Food – Dobro?

Stuffed Pljeskavica (₱320). Ground beef steak stuffed with Mozzarella Cheese

Ground tasty beef with a nice grill flavor that’s juicy and cheesy inside and comes with rice or fries. You have to order solo, no family-style orders these days.

Stuffed Lamb (₱380). Minced lamb stuffed with feta and mozzarella cheese

My favorite is the lamb version in spicy flavor, stuffed with a mix of feta and mozza cheese. This goes well with a nice cold beer.

Chicken Batak (₱320). Boneless chicken thigh with mozzarella cheese on top

The chicken batak version is also nice, with cheese on top for variety.

Verdict?

Overall, we miss Balkan food! We love this kind of secret nook places in the city serving good unique food in a private lounge setting. We also love Balkan food which goes well with ice cold beer and good conversations with friends.

The private room is located on the third floor, and you can open the window for proper ventilation. The main business of Marko which is located on the second floor is pest control, so you can be sure that everything is clean and pest-free.

The stuffed meats are good, and we will try the beef goulash and the Cevapcici Burger next time. Bring a potluck dessert to complete the meal.

Animo Marko!!
