The first question to ask in deciding where to stay is do you want to have electricity at night or do you want to experience living in the Batad Village with no electricity? There are five inns located on the hill overlooking the Batad Village. They are Rita’s, Hillside Inn, Simon’s, Batad Pension and Ramon’s Homestay. All of them have electricity but the biggest inns are Hillside Inn and Simon’s Inn. Both of them can accommodate 50 guests at any time and they have a fantastic view of the Batad Village.
We stayed in Hillside Inn and I would recommend it because of the good service and good kitchen. The rooms in Batad would costs P150-P200 per person per night.

Usually the weather up there would be raining but it won't be as heavy as a typhoon. Just be ready with all your jackets and have a water proof bag.
ive been in batad and had a great stay at Rita’s inn overseeing the rice terraces.it was awesome and the family who owns the place were overwhelming and the foods are delicious.i miss the pizza of germaine.it was really a place away from home. it was fun. i had a great time not only to that place but also with the family. Romeo tells many things about batad.for sure to go back.
Batad and Sagada are the places I would want to visit again…and again!
Just amazing places!

Hi Anton,
do you have a recent/updated contact number for Simon’s Inn?
Thanks,
Mer
Is there any catholic church in Batad to participate in Sunday Mass?
Thanks for reply.
Sorry but I’m quiet disappointed with the exterior appearance of these Inns. Do you think they would strongly attract foreigners??? Bubong palang halatang as Pilipinas na, they reflect the ugliness of our country…hayy sayang…ang ganda pa naman ng rice terraces.
LawReal,
Speak for yourself. I’m not put off by the roof. Besides, travellers nowadays have become more and more open minded, thus, understand 1.that this kind of bubong is what we commonly use in the Philippines,an advantage for someone looking for the real feel of our country and 2. they cannot expect a Ritz Hotel on the mountains. I commend the person who took the trouble of posting this. It’s very helpful.
hello! can i get the updated contact numbers of the inns or hotels posted here? THANKS 🙂
For Hillside Inn, contact Atty. Maya at 0908 601 2888. Simons Inn has no official number but atty. Maya gave us the number of Simon’s niece’s (Jenilyn) number 0939 280 1554. Hope this helps.
Hi Ms. Anna, may be too late. I am not sure if Maya has an email address but Hillside Inn may also be reached through hillside_inn@yahoo.com. (from travel-Philippines.org)

Stolen at the Hillside inn,
That was the inn that our guide decided to bring us after 1 day trekking. The guide, a thirties man with some tatoos, one bulldog in the neck and a wolf in the back.
The building, a 3 floor’s house in the right hill side of Batad. Grey concrete and some green in several walls. At the reception, a young woman mid-thirties and a kid, fifteen. The kid gives us the key and a locker for our rooms.
The rooms, in the ground floor. We had a locker to close the door. Simple rooms but clean and tidy.
The restaurant, a wonderful view of the amphitheater of rice fields. The food was good. All cocked by the young woman, helped by the kid and our guide, who was her nephew.
The night, 3 guides with its groups where in the restaurant. All of us talking about our trips in Philippines, drinking Gin with coke, eating peanuts and playing guitar.
The morning, an astonishing view of the rice fields. After the shower we search our money to pay the futur breakfast. No money. All pesos gone. Probably during our diner time in the restaurant.
We explain our misery to the young woman, she looked surprised. Our guide doesn’t. But he calms us telling us that his uncle, husband’s young woman, will come and solve the problem by 12pm. Then, told us that the Shaman was searching the guilty. Then, told us that he had a suspect. We propose to visit him. He proposes his uncle to do so because he has guns. So I propose to use the machete to back up us. He smiled.
After more non sense talking, we asked a refund of our stolen money. No. Half of it. No. A fourth of it and the entire bill of the room and restaurant were taken by the house. The young woman was kind and generous offering us this solution and asks us the phones numbers and e-mail for further news and the total refund of our money, once his husband arrived and sort it the problem.
We went to Banaue to spend the night and then continue our trip a bit more lightweights. During the evening the boss of the Hillside inn, the uncle, presents himself in the hostel where we were. In fact in that same hostel we found several days before the guide that bring us to the Hillside Inn. He asks us what happened. We explain. He tells us that his nephew is not an official guide and we should take one in order to avoid those kinds of disappearances. He assures us that he will get our money back. So we ask for a total refund that same night. No. Why? If you are sure, give us back the rest of the money and cut the non sense talking, please. I’m afraid, I can’t. But I’ll send you the money back, I’ve got you contacts. And please understand that any of this can damage our business of the Hillside Inn.
Today, no news, no refund of the rest of the money. So here is our story. If you go, enjoy the view and the night ambiance but put your bills under your pants.
Enjoy Philippines and do not get scared about our story. It happens. But that doesn’t means that you’ll leave the same awful moments. Take care of your belongings all the time under your skin while you enjoy the smiles and easy communication with Philippinos.
