They all went back to Manila and decided to give life to a refreshing little place called Miss B’s Tuckshop. (We’re not used to the word tuckshop, which is actually a British term for a small food shop.) Here, they aim to refresh American comfort food using French cooking techniques without the frills.
This original concept in the Manila Resto scene is something that foodies would definitely rave about… Check it out!
The facade is unassuming and seemingly “cold” — in fact, if you didn’t know what this place was, you wouldn’t be enticed to enter the restaurant. This used to be the location of the short-lived Gino’s Eats & Beats.
Miss B’s Tuckshop Menu: Starters | Mains & Sides | Desserts & Milkshakes | New Items
The interiors remind me of a classroom devoid of any pretentious designs. The cement wall and minimalist finish are offset by the pastel color highlights of the resto. It’s interesting how its hole-in-the-wall feel is actually located in a mini-office building.
Red Velvet Milkshake (P180 +5% service charge).
This is like having a Red Velvet cupcake — just in milkshake form. Think of this combination: chocolate ice cream + red beets (to intensify the chocolate-y color) + cream cheese chunks = Sarap! Good but sinful since it is served in a half-liter jug!
Lechon Salad (P160 +5% service charge).
This is one confused salad — it’s healthy and unhealthy at the same time — but we like it. It is served coleslaw-style with a sweet sauce and bits of fatty lechon pieces (almost like sisig bits that are not crunchy). The serving size is small, and enough for one. It makes a good starter dish.
Beef Burger (P185 +5% service charge).
The burger is served plain — just a thick beef patty with small monay buns. But the beef patty is really good and tastes different.
We found out from the owners that aside from using local grass-fed beef (150g uncooked), they put beer-battered beef ribs (20g uncooked) in the middle of the patty to give it a very distinct flavor.
This is one of the best burgers I’ve tasted in Manila (and I’ve eaten a lot, especially the good ones in Mercato Centrale).
Weiner Schnitzel (P245 +5% service charge) + Dirty Rice (P65 +5% service charge).
You order the main dishes and the side dishes separately, so that you have a variety of options and keep the cost affordable. The breaded pork goes well with the almost-mashed, New Orleans-type rice served with a sweet apple-mango salsa.
We like it because of the different flavor experience it offers. It’s not like the usual rice toppings you can order anywhere else.
Congrats to Vino (Filipina-African), Nicole Oropesa (Filipina) and Aaron Lau (Singaporean) for a great resto concept with Miss B’s! A warm welcome back to Manila!
(BTW, Miss B is the name of Nicole and Aaron’s dog…)
We had a hard time picking our desserts because they all seemed so unique. We decided to try these:
Calamansi Beignet (P180 +5% service charge).
It is a mini-donut (without the hole) dipped in creamy calamansi sauce. This is very light and a good way to end the meal.
Chocolate Torta (P195 +5% service charge).
This is Valrhona Chocolate Ganache covered in a dimsum-type wrapper. It’s good but a bit too rich (we were not able to finish it). I was actually expecting xiao long bao-style dumplings with gooey chocolate inside instead of one big thing.
Overall, we love Miss B’s unique French-American food concept. It’s not exactly cheap but it’s relatively cheaper than most for the quality of food. Budget P500/person.

We offer simple food fare influenced by American comfort food; executed with basic French techniques. Miss B’s is about reintroducing real flavors into the all-time favorites and at the same time making them our own (without the frills).
Our kitchen is free of msg, artificial flavorings or other flavor enhancers. Our beef burger has no fillers (bread crumbs, starch, eggs, etc.) and is molded from 100% grass-fed beef. Other classic favorites are the pork burger, buffalo chicken burger and pommes dauphines to name a few. All of which are served with our home-made ketchup and other home-made sauces.
All our dessert items are originals such as the Manila Cheesecake and Calamansi Beignet etc. Our milkshakes are a composition of the best stuff on earth in a half-a-liter mug (Peanut Butter and Jelly, Roasted Marshmallow, Red Velvet).
Our back-to-basics approach to food comes from our deepest desire to bring back quality in junk food per se. Miss B’s daily challenge is to produce honest fast food which people can identify with wherein satisfaction is always above and beyond paid value. Anyone is welcome to come as you are and tuck in!

2. EDSA towards Makati: Make a right into Zodiac (Mcdo as your indicator), take a left at SM Cyber building. Miss B’s will be at your right-hand side and directly across Buendia Car Exchange.
3. Directions from Rockwell (Power Plant): You will be traveling on Makati Ave., towards the direction of Makati. Make a left on Jupiter Street (Mang Inasal as your indicator), travel all the way straight, past Fiama, beside Melo’s. Miss B’s is directly across Buendia Car Exchange.

i agree. kitch cafe is nice. my disclosure is im friends with the daughter’s owner. but my fandom goes way beyond the friendship. try the tuyo pasta and the tamarind ribs. 🙂

too expensive… the food was okay. burger, yes, delicious. but i couldve gone for the more sophisticated, cafe breton for the burger. and the fries are wayyy overpriced. VERY SMALL serving, yet expensive. i dont think it”s fair at all…
