COLD STONE CREAMERY PHILIPPINES: Ultimate Ice Cream Experience in Manila? @ColdStonePH

Cold Stone Creamery-5.jpg
After an experimental market test in Rockwell in 2005, COLD STONE CREAMERY finally opened its first store in Manila at Serendra, Bonifacio Global City.

Its claim to fame is that it offers super premium ice cream made fresh everyday, which is mixed with flair on the spot on a cold stone. There’s also a wide array of other ingredients for patrons to customize their ice cream.

But is it really the ultimate ice cream experience in Manila? Check out our Cold Stone experience:

Cold Stone opened its first dessert shop in Serendra, in the corner spot where Le Petit Artisan used to be (facing Market! Market!) beside Gourmandise.

Honestly, it was a bit confusing for us at the start. We couldn’t decide on what to order because of the many choices available.

The menus are located where the queue is, so you are pressured to decide what to order right then and there. If you have a date with you, it’s good to know what to order already.

(Tip: Take a look at the Cold Stone Creamery Menu before you go.)

To keep it simple, choose from the signature ice cream mixes above, based on the ice cream flavor or fruit that you like.

Like It (5 oz) is the minimum size for the ice cream with mix-ins (P158) or the signature flavors (P168).

Gotta Have It (12 oz) is good if you want to share the same flavor with family and friends. It’s P218 for the create-your-own-flavor, and P228 for the signature flavors.

Everybody’s (48 oz) is good for take-out and if you want to enjoy Cold Stone at home. It costs P1,148 for your own ice cream + 1 mix-in creation and P1,288 for the signature flavors.

It’s relatively expensive compared to other ice cream sellers in the metro.

For our boys, we ordered their favorite flavors from their signature line: Strawberry Banana Rendezvous, OREO Overload, and Our Strawberry Blonde.

One of the added attractions in eating at Cold Stone is watching the ice cream guy/girl mix your ice cream on the spot on top of a cold stone table.

TIP: Order the signature creations with the cookies or nuts if you want the ice cream guy/girl to toss your ice cream in the air. Don’t order the ones with fruits because they don’t hold up well.

Service is actually very fast; it takes a longer time to think about what you are going to get.

Cold Stone Creamery-12.jpg
They have a fast food queue where you order first, have your ice cream assembled, and then pay at the counter.

We liked Cold Stone’s signature Strawberry Banana Rendezvous made of Strawberry Ice Cream with Graham Cracker Pie Crust, White Chocolate Chips, Strawberries and Bananas.

We all found the ice cream a bit too sweet, though. It’s fun eating it at the start until you get that cloying feeling.

Cold Stone Creamery is a good dessert stop when you are in BGC. You can literally drive by for it when you pass through the Serendra driveway (fronting Market! Market!).

We had a fun experience of seeing the ice cream mixed and
tossed in the air by the very enthusiastic ice cream ‘baristas’.  The
signature flavor combinations are well thought out and certainly have
catchy names.

We just find the ice cream itself a bit too sweet for our taste; we still prefer Artisanal Ice Cream flavors in Manila. (Or maybe we just ordered the wrong flavors?)

What’s your favorite at Cold Stone Creamery? Any tips on what to get next time?

P.S. I want to try their signature cakes next time. Each one costs P1,200, good for 8 people.

If you have tried them, what’s good among the flavors below? Any recommendations?

  • Midnight Delight
  • Cookies & Creamery
  • Strawberry Passion
  • A Cheesecake Named Desire
  • Coffeehouse Crunch
  • Birthday Cake

  1. I have not tried their cakes, but I have tried the birthday cake flavored ice cream and it’s probably one of the sweetest flavors they have. It reminds me of cake batter!

  2. Cold Stone is super yummy!!!! 🙂
You can also try Tamayaki in P.Guevarra, San Juan, its fairly new!! They sell the best Tamayaki balls & lots of new flavors of teas!

  3. After trying Cold Stone at a couple of countries now, I have to try the Manila branch. It’s price is comparable with the other countries, but there is a very perceptible difference in taste quality depending on the country. This makes me believe that they do make their own batches of ice cream locally instead of having a global supply chain out of a commissary somewhere. The taste of Cold Stone in Taipei is definitely not as good as the taste of that in Guam. I want to see if the local franchisee in Manila is going to make better or worse than the other places I’ve had it at.
