ANTONIO’S Tagaytay by Chef Tony Boy Escalante is considered by most foodies as the #1 Restaurant in the Philippines. It is awarded as one of the top 20 Best Restaurants in Asia by the Miele Guide. It is located in Tagaytay, about 3 hours away from Manila.
You order Antonio’s signature 4-course set menu where the price of the set is determined by the cost of the main entree. You eat in a romantic fine dining garden setting for about 3 hours.
Here’s what you can expect when dining at Antonio’s, considered as the Best Restaurant experience in the Philippines:
Antonio’s is open every Tuesday to Sunday with a lunch service at 11am and a dinner service at 5.30pm. It’s strictly by reservation only and follows a strict smart casual dress code.
The ambiance is romantic garden chic and there’s a special spot for you for every occassion.
Even the restroom is worth talking about with clean, and literally green alfresco setup.
My favorite place to dine is the main dining area near the kitchen, preferably close to the windows.
There’s a grand staircase that leads to the lower level dining area and that leads to the cabana.
For bigger groups, you can be accomodated with the high ceiling dining area.
There are different motifs to choose from — from formal, to romantic, to fun casual ambiance.
APPETIZER
Meal starts with complimentary serving of freshly baked bread and butter.
A good appetizer to get would be a serving of raclette cheese and
Don’t forget to order Antonio’s signature Freshly Squeezed Dalandan juice.
Antonio’s Tagaytay Menu: Antonio’s Set & Ala Carte Menu | Drinks Menu | Desserts Menu
You order a Main Entree which usually comes as a set which includes House Salad, Soup of the Day, Dessert, and Coffee or Tea. The price of the set menu is determined by the price of the entree.
SOUP
The soup is usually light and depends on what ingredients are freshly available.
Each set menu comes with an Antonio’s Organic Mesclun Salad with Bleu d’ Auvegne Crumbled, Glazed Walnuts, Dried Currants & Cranberries with Raspberry Vinaigrette, Drizzled with Basil Oil.
Pan Seared Duck Liver Glazed with Honey Peppercorn ($12.77)
You can upgrade and have it with Foie Gras, or …
Arugula Salad, Sun-Dried Tomato, Gorgonzola & Glazed Walnuts Drizzled with Balsamic Dressing ($5.80)
… I prefer it with little bits of berries, cheese and nuts.
SORBET
A palate cleanser of Green Mango sorbet is served to prepare you for the main entrees.
ENTREE
Antonio’s Trio ($51): #1 – Grilled Beef Fillet Gratinated with Cepes-Morel, Black Truffle, Mashed Potato, #2- Beef Fillet Plancha topped with Seared Foie Gras, Gratin Potato with Port Wine Sauce, and #3- Honey Glazed Lamb Loin Gratinated with Goat Cheese
If it is your first time, order the sampling platter of beef, foie gras, and lamb.
Lamb Kopta ($37) with Saffron Tomato Rice Pilaf, Cucumber Raita.
You can also order a full serving of lamb which is served with rice pilaf.
Duo of French Poultry Roasted Duck Breast & Squab ($53.40), Mixed Berries in Red Wine Jus & Confit Potato on Duck Fat with Pan Seared Foie Gras .
If you are looking for something new, this roasted duck slices and squab (young pigeon) topped with Foie gras will provide you with a different flavor and meat texture combination.
Grilled Visayas Sole ($38.30) drizzled with Olive Oil, Parsley, Lemon & Chili Crushed Boiled Potato.
If you are looking for a healthy meal, order this visayas sole delivered fresh every day.
Seafood Sampler Trio ($38.3): #1 – Steamed Chilean Sea Bass with Gratin Potato, Fish Caper Veloute, #2 – Prawn & Scallop Thermidor, #3 – Pan Seared Scallops on Mash Potato, and Truffle Cream Sauce.
The seafood sampler of chilean sea bass, prawn, and scallops is also very good for first timers.
Spanferkel ($395). Pit-Roasted Boneless Stuffed Weaned Pig with HErbs, Fennel & Potato served with Sauerkraut, Homemade Apple Sauce, Horseradish Cream & German Mustard. For 10 Persons at $40/person, served as set-menu (Order at least a day before)
For very special occassions, make sure to order Antonio’s version of the Lechon good for 10+ persons at least a day before.
COFFEE & TEA
Coffee & Tea is included in the set menu and Antonio’s uses TWG tea for its tea service.
DESSERT
Desserts are included also in the set menu and you can choose from our favorites:
Panna Cotta with Honeycomb Caramelo
I love the texture and just the right sweetness of the honeycomb topped on the Panna Cotta.
Here’s a classic chocolate cake for the choco lovers.
It is served in its flaming version when it is your birthday 🙂
Felchlin Maracaibo Chocolate Terrine with Double Cream & Roasted Pistachio
You can also order a chocolate dessert in a pate loaf form.
Berries & Cream Ice Cream served in Almond Meringue Basket
My personal favorite is the Berries and Cream Ice cream with real strawberry and berry taste and paired with the crunchy sweet texture of the meringue.
Another merinque based dessert but using passion fruit sauce.
Dark Chocolate Souffle with Cardamom Creame Anglaise
Nothing beats a classic souffle dessert to end the gourmet experience.
Overall, Antonio’s has been consistently good all this years and if Michelin was in Manila, this would be the first one to be rated 🙂
The menu never changed that much and you can order the classic food you love specially foie-gras in your salad, and meat entrees. I love that they already sourced some of the ingredients from their organic farm or neighboring farms in Tagaytay.
I love the new addition in the menu like the Duo of French Poultry Roasted Duck Breast & Squab and Berries & Cream Ice Cream for dessert.
Also, I still love the classic romantic feel of the place, and sincere warm Filipino service.
Budget around P2,250/head + drinks which was our average bill (less senior citizens discount).
Indeed, this is the best place to celebrate those special people and moments in your life!
