11 Foodie Tips & Tricks to Survive UTT 11!
1) Pace yourself. Don’t attempt to finish the food from all 50+ vendors in a single hour.
2) Rate the food immediately. Trust your instincts and put the first score that comes to mind.
Here’s the rating scale for the taste test and some guidelines for each score:
1- Thanks, but it could be better. (If you didn’t like the food at all)
2- It’s OK. (If it was acceptable but not really memorable)
3- We had a good time. (If it was good and you enjoyed eating it)
4- I love it! (If the food was really good and something you would order next time)
5- Awesome! (If the food was really, really good that you would tell everyone about it or give it away for Christmas to your friends and family)
We suggest you give your rating first before comparing notes with other foodies so that your decision won’t be influenced. So if you love the food and think it’s rave-worthy, go ahead and give it a 5.
3) Savor each bite. This isn’t a buffet but a walk-around degustation.
We purposely scheduled the event to last the entire day so you can avoid the long queues and come at the most convenient time for you. There is enough food for 1,000 foodies, so take your time going from one food vendor to another.
We also recommended that you talk to the owners themselves to understand the story behind the food you’re tasting.
4) It’s more fun with family and friends. Bonding sessions are best enjoyed with good food. 🙂
So go to the tasting event with family and friends who love food. This is a good venue to reunite with long-lost friends, or to celebrate a special occasion with your family.
5) Plan your foodie attack. Study the list of vendors and select the first ones you would love to try. Check out the Jane’s top 10 hit list for Rockwell’s 3rd Ultimate Taste Test for tips.

6) Pair it with beer!
Your ticket comes with a San Miguel beer of your choice: Premium All Malt, Cerveza Negra, or Super Dry. Pair and savor it with whatever you have on hand — appetizer, main dish, or a sweet dessert! Definitely a must-try experience (but only for those 18 years old and above).
- is characterized by a strong impression of aromatic hop notes as it makes use of a higher amount of aroma hops.
- with a certain proportion of cereals used, it is light to medium bodied and has the right bitterness that renders and overall dry taste and elegant quick finish.
- best paired with chicken or fish dishes
SAN MIGUEL PREMIUM ALL-MALT BEER
- is made of 100% malt
- it has that characteristic malty aroma accented with pleasant citrussy hop notes.
- best paired with beef or pork dishes
CERVEZA NEGRA
- has a balance of moderate bitterness and straightforward aromas of pleasant, sweetish, roasted malt bouquets that extend to the palate.
- it pours with a creamy, frothy head showing excellent lacing
- best paired with chocolate or desserts.
7) Prepare your stomach. Make sure to get some exercise and eat light before going to UTT.
8) Safeguard your UTT passport. We’ve had incidents in the past where UTT passports got mixed up or lost during the taste test.
Make sure you put your name or a distinctive mark on your passport once you receive it. Unfortunately, if you lose your passport, we cannot replace it anymore.
9) Instagram that food. Share your food discoveries with family and friends and tag them with #UltimateTasteTest @PowerPlantMall.
10) Take a break. Watch a movie or go shopping!
Yes, for the best experience most foodies would go lunch time and taste until you are half way through the list. Then, take a break either to watch a movie for the boys, or shop till you drop for the girls in Rockwell. You can go back and have merienda or early dinner to complete the rest of the list.
11) Attire: casually comfortable. Come comfortably dressed and ready to eat. It’s going to be a festive atmosphere so go ahead and have some fun!
