KICHITORA is a ramen chain concept by Filipino and Japanese partners, which opened its first branch in Shibuya, Tokyo and subsequently in SM Megamall about a year ago. Just recently, they opened another branch in Glorietta 5. The name “Kichitora” literally means “Lucky Tiger”.
I often ask foodies what their favorite ramen is and Kichitora is consistently mentioned. We finally got to try it and I can see why they love it here. 🙂

The menu is simple, focusing on ramen plus side dishes that complement the ramen experience.
We ordered the gyoza for the kids, but the wrapper was a bit tough.
✮ Chicken Karaage Rice (P295). Our famous karaage set with rice, miso soup and a small salad. Need we say more? It may be your kids’ most wanted but we guarantee that there is no age limit to this go-to family favorite, Japanese style!
The Karaage was a super hit with our boys because of its crispy outside and very juicy and tasty inside.
✮ Paitan Ramen Zenbu no Se (P420). Our No.1 bestselling ramen! This special variation of our famous Paitan Chicken Ramen is topped with an additional piece of pork or chicken chashu, dried seaweed, molten lava egg (ajitsuke taago) and given a dash of our flavorful fried garlic oil (may-yu).
The soup is made from chicken broth simmered for 18-24 hours and has very rich flavor. Order the Zenbu No Se version for a generous serving of toppings. You also have the option to get pork or chicken chashu.
This is recommended for foodies looking for a rich but healthier ramen experience.
Hokkaido Miso Ramen (P395). Blended with our special Hokkaido Miso, this very flavorful ramen is topped with minced pork, chicken or pork chashu, mixed vegetables, bamboo shoots (menma), spring onions, and fried garlic oil (ma-yu).
Unfortunately, we did not enjoy this combination of chicken broth and miso.
✮ Tan Tan Mien (P395). Another Kichitora favorite, this ramen is made with pure sesame broth and topped with minced pork, sesame seeds, green vegetables spring onions, spicy oil (la-yu) and fried garlic oil (ma-yu). If you love sesame, this is the bowl for you!
I love the rich sesame broth. The red chili oil was a bit scary, but it was not as spicy as I expected it to be.
If you’re looking for a rich chicken broth ramen, I recommend going to Kichitora. It’s great to know that this ramen chain was conceptualized by Filipinos with Japanese partners. 🙂
The Glorietta 5 branch has a nicer ambiance, overlooking the Glorietta garden, but faces the afternoon sun.
Order their Paitan Ramen Zenbu no Se, Tan Tan Mien, and Chicken Karaage. Budget is P500/head.
