A Tourist Visa to Korea is generally FREE, but you still have to apply for it. You can get your visa in as short as 3 days or as long as a week.
Here are some tips on how to apply for a South Korea Visa here in Manila.
First, visit the official website of the Korean Embassy and download the application form here: Korean Visa Application Form.
No need for appointments, but visa application happens every day from 9.00am to 11.00am only.
There’s already a long line outside the embassy at around 8.16am. Better line up as early as 7am.
Note: Make sure to check the list of Korean National Holidays because the Embassy is closed during those dates.
You line up for a queue number. They also check your application form and attachments.
Make sure you have the complete visa requirements.

While waiting , make sure to:
- Sign your visa application form & fill out all the fields. Don’t leave anything blank (write “N/A” or “not applicable” where appropriate).
- Arrange your documents properly: Visa Application Form on top, photocopy of passport & visas issued from other countries, then supporting documents.

You can pick up your visa at the Embassy from Monday to Friday, 2.00pm to 4.00pm.

Hello Sir.
After looking at your website, I cant wait to visit the embassy. By the way, I just renewed my passport last january. My previous travels is in my old passport. Will they require the original old passport or just the copy of the old passport is enough?
Hope you can answer my query. Thank you sir.
YES Please bring a copy of the old passport.
ANTON
Hi, i noticed the white slip states that the date indicates the return date of the passport- with or without approved visa. Do you have an idea on how many of these returned passports were denied a visa? Thanks
Hi! I lost my previous passport, which contained visas from one of the OECD countries and a Korean visa. But I was able to photocopy those. Can I still process my visa in Window 3, and can I just submit those without the original passport?
YES, just show the copies. Anyway you are only required to submit the xerox.
Anton

Hi there sir,
me and my cousin have booked for a trip to korea come august and we would like to consult with you on some concerns.
1st – my cousin just resigned this april 30 2014 from his company which he served for more than a year. His certificate of employment or employment certificate will be released 2 months after or by june. He has an itr(current/latest) and financial capability. how will this affect our visa application.
2nd – i am employed on our family business, how will having a certificate of employment signed by my parents affect our application. thank you very much for your time on my inquiry.
ryan
Hi there Sir, i would like to request for your assistance regarding our plan. me and my cousin are booked come august and would like to ask some things prior to our visa application.
my cousin just recently resigned last april of 2014 and his certificate of employment or employment certificate will be release 2 months after or on june. how will it affect our application.
Also i plan to augment his finances to help him, is there a required bank deposit period prior to securing a bank certificate? and lastly i am employed at our family business, how will my certificate of employment signed by my parents affect our application.
thank you so very much for your time in my inquiry and more power.
hi,I am a Filipino citizen holding carta soggoirno (Italian green card), and i want to visit south Korea for a couple of days (max of 6days) with my cousin & friend who’s staying in the Philippines.
what are the requirements? i’m planning to go on august 2014 when i visit Philippines for my yearly vacation.
if i’m going to process my visa in the Philippines , am i required to personally appear in the embassy? ( i only have 25 days vacation in Philippines ) how long would it take for the visa to be released ?
And lastly i’ll shoulder all the expenses of our tour/trip what requirement do i need to prepare if they don’t have a personal bank certificate (i also don’t have a personal bank account in the Philippines or any philippine documents besides my philippine pass port)? i’m planning to buy a plane ticket for us this early (earlier from the travel date) & i want to be sure if we would be granted a visa to visit Korea.
Can i apply visa even though i’m not yet in the Philippines.. What i meant is, can i pass some requirements with only a photo copy of my passport then i’ll bring the original copy of it in the embassy when i arrive in the Philippines ( for the visa to be attach in it)
hope to get a response from you…
thank you=

Hi! I have a multiple entry Korean Visa valid for 1 year until Feb 2015, but I just renewed my passport for a trip to Korea this coming August. Will the visa in my old passport suffice, I just have to bring the passport with me or do I have to have my new passport stamped/apply for a new visa?
Your reply will be highly appreciated! 🙂
Hi anton, good day! may i seek your advice regarding sk visa app.
im currently employed at our family business and i am treated as an employee and thus have to prepare a COE, and even my support documents like my payslips and itr are signed by my mother, the general manager. our business is registered under her name.
may i ask how will this affect my visa application. i have my bank cert at around 100K and i have sought this path to visa app instead of the businessman procedure since the business is not in my name. thanks in advance.
Hi Ryan,
That is the correct process. You just need to show that you have capacity to pay for your trip.
Anton
Good day! my gf and i are getting married this August and we want to spend our honeymoon in Korea. Since ga-graduate na din sya this march2015, advance grad gift na din to for her. Were planning to go to to Korea this November because its her sem break. We have a business na kaming dalawa nakapangalan at nag manage. My question is, what are the best documents that we have to pass to the embassy?
a. separate Business certificates newly registered from DTI (were business partners), separate Bank certificates, her school ID and school certificate, 2 sets of photocopy of contract of conditional sale of property named after us (we bought a property last yr. payable within 5 yrs).
b. separate Affidavit of support from my sister who’s in Kuwait and her sister who’s in Dubai, COE of our sisters, Bank certificate of our sisters, 2 sets of photocopy of contract of conditional sale of property named after us (we bought a property last yr. payable within 5 yrs).
I hope you will not get too confused with my questions! Thank you in advance!
Hi Miguel,
Best to have a Bank Certificate to show you have money to support your travel. Also, tell them your story and you want to have your honeymoon in Korea.

A pleasant day…
I worked in S. Korea from June 2008-April 2013..then renewed contract with the same employer afterwards. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to finish my last contract. My mother was hospitalized and I had to come home. I was only given three weeks vacation but I wasn’t able to go back on the designated date. My mother’s condition was critical.. I was advised by my previous employer to HRD Korea office at Ortigas to surrender my alien card, just take the EPS-KLT exam and wait. I took the exam recently. Fortunately, I passed. My only concern now is, with what happened, is it a ground for denial of visa/being banned from entering Korea (blacklisted)? I hope not…
Thank you for you time….
Hi, Anton!
My sister and I are planning to go to Korea on october for a 4-day vacation. I’ve been browsing through the Korean Embassy website as well as a number of blogs but it’s unclear to me what the requirements are if you are unemployed, a fresh grad (thus non-student), and is applying for a tourist visa. If it matters, I am a U.S. green card holder and is well-travelled. In terms of finances, my Dad will be shouldering our expenses. I am worried because I’ve read in some posts that unemployed applicants get automatically denied although some say otherwise. Do you have any idea on what the requirements are in my case? Hope you can help me out!
Hi Anne,
You need to show evidence that you can support your travel to Korea with any possible documentation that you can. Evidence of source of funds, bank account, credit card, previous travels, etc.

hi Sir
Good Afternoon!
we will be traveling to SK on OCT this year. here’s my question. one of my companion recently resigned from work to concentrate on her CPA review and business which is operating for 2 months only. she has all the documents except for ITR. would this be a problem in getting a korean visa? thank you.
Hello Anton,
I am a US citizen that would like to bring a cousin who is a Philippine citizen to S. Korea for a trip that will be no longer than 5 days. I would be the one purchasing tickets and have sufficient funds to show. Since I am the one financing the trip, would my financial documents need to be submitted in addition to hers in order for an approval for a tourist visa? I am unsure if she can furnish documents demonstrating adequate funds.
Hi Anton,
How much they require in your bank account as a proof that you can fund your stay in S Korea? Thanks
Hello Sir Anton,
I am working here in Singapore and planning to apply for a tourist visa together with my husband and kids ages 5 & 6 who are currently in Philippines. I can’t find the requirements for children. And since I am working in Singapore so I don’t an ITR in Philippines, what will be the options. I have traveled to UK twice one in 2012 and 2013, so do I still required to submit a bank certificate and my bank acct in here in Singapore also. Do you also happen to know if I just apply here in SG would they allow my husband and children’s application also.
Thank you and hoping to hear from you.
Regards..
Hi Maricor,
Best to consult the nearest Korean embassy. You still need to provide Financial proof that you can fund your travel.
ANTON
Hi Sir Anton,
I am going to Korean with my friend this dec 2014. My friend is currently in Qatar. Can she get a korean visa there? even our flight is manila to seoul.
Other concerns:
What will I indicate in National Identification Number?
How will i write the dates? Sample 12 dec 14? or 12/12/14 or 12/12/2014?
For the address in Korean, we are still on the process of choosing a motel. Can we indicate “undecided”?
do i need to indicate a guarantor? Im currently working and I will be the one shouldering my expenses there.
Hoping for your reply.
Thank you.
– Ken
Your friend needs to get a visa from Qatar. You need to have a booking in Korea when you apply for your visa. You should show proof of your financial capacity for the trip.
ANTON

And also, is there a need for my kids to go to the embassy for a personal appearance when applying for korean visa? thank you very much.

Hello Sir,
I have a military friend based in South Korea who invited me for a week’s visit. He will be the one to cover my expenses. Do I still need to present both our bank certificates and a copy of his passport too? Could it be possible to get a visa even if I plan to go there this December?
Your response is highly appreciated. Thank you so much.
Hi, thank you for posting this, it was very helpful. We were at the embassy this morning, I’d just like to add that if you’re currently unemployed and travelling with a family member (who is to fund your stay), you will need to submit a copy of your birth certificate. For newly graduates, instead of the birth certificate you will need to present a copy of your diploma. I hope this helps, too! Thanks again!
Hello Sir Anton,
My husband is managing a cooperative where we are members. He does not have ITR but can produce certificate of employment. Will it be a problem?
The family will be travelling to Korea this December. Only me and my husband have US visas. Will our visas be released sooner? Both daughters are still students.
Can i submit the application form on behalf of the family?
Thank you and looking forward to your response.
Hello Anton

Hi Anton,
I have been scouring the internet for information and I have also inquired a couple of travel agencies regarding my query. I have all the necessary requirements except for the business/mayor’s permit since I am a freelancer. Would that matter or do you think it would be alright to submit without it? I have VISAs to other OECD countries which I have travelled to in the past 5 years though.
Do you know anyone who has had the same problem and how they were able to do it?
Thanks so much!
You should be fine since they evaluate it on an overall basis naman.

Hi!
Sorry to bother you but do you know if it’s possible to apply for a visa if I don’t have an ITR? I have been employed just recently but have no ITR yet. Also, I have been traveling a lot around asia although I haven’t really been to OECD member countries- would that matter? My father is planning to sponsor my trip to Korea as a birthday present but I am kind of doubting I could get a visa because of my ITR dilemma.
Hoping to hear from you!
Just try it and explain your situation in your VISA Application form.
ANTON

You may also submit your bank statement. -mariatherese123456789@gmail.com
Yes, much better if she will submit her ITR 🙂 -mariatherese123456789@gmail.com
You still need if you are Philippine Passport Holder. -mariatherese123456789@gmail.com
Hi, ticket is not required. Much better if you will not buy your ticket, wait for the result first 🙂
Bank Certificate plus credit card will be good 🙂
Korean Embassy did not state any amount needed, as long you can show that you are financially capable to travel and you have strong ties here.
-mariatherese123456789@gmail.com
3 months is the expiration of visa -mariatherese123456789@gmail.com
No Ryan, just photocopy and just submit the passport with your visas.
Yes mam, she needs it if you and your husband will be the one to fund her trip/study. -mariatherese123456789@gmail.com
Hi!!
I have all the supporting documents. The only problem I have is that the beach resort I work for doesnt have any landline since it is located in the province. We only have mobile number as the contact number.
How am I gonna work this out? Thank you so much! Would really appreciate any reply 🙂
Where to park within Korean embassy at mckinley? is there ample parking space?
since i didn’t get any reply re: parking space, let me just contribute my own testimony
1. i suggest you go to embassy as early as 6am, register your name, sometimes they issue id sometimes not
2. if you have a car, you can park at family mart area parking slots at tuscany compound, inside mckinley hill. free till 10am
3. you can have breakfast at jollibee-petron c5
4. make sure to be back by 720 to 730 at the embassy
5. 7:40 am, head guard will call names based on registered list, proceed inside another door for visa processing.
6. A screener at the 2nd door will check your papers then issue you a number
7. windows 1 to 4 shall open at 830am sharp.
8. Once called, max 5 mins only to finish the application, korean teller wont even speak to you, just check your docs, then give you a claim stub to return after 5 working days, so 6th day from application
hope this helps, make sure you use check marks not X mark on the application form

Non appearance for application is okay

My details:

Self-employed – BIR registered (business registered under my name)

Occupational Tax paid annually at the Municipal Hall.
Will apply Korean visa next week.
Eto po yung documents na issubmit ko:
– Application form (with attached photo)
– Original Passport
– Photocopy of Passport bio-page
– Copy of Japan Visa
– Certificate of Registration (BIR)
– Copy of Occupation Tax Receipt (from the Municipal hall)
– Bank Certificate

**Wala po akong DTI certificate dahil niregister ko yung business under my name. Wala din Mayor’s permit pero nagbabayad ako ng Occupational tax yearly (same as PTR for professionals).
Mayroon na po bang ganito yung case?
Yung sa list of requirements kasi DTI/Mayor’s permit – yung BIR hindi naka lista. Hindi ko po alam kung tatanggapin to.
Please advise po.
Thank you!
Hi! I have the same case as you. How did yours go?
It’s nearly impossible to find well-informed people for this subject, however,
you seem like you know what you’re talking about!
Thanks

Hi, I am working in singapore and will travel to korea, the thing is, my sister (16 years old) wants to go with me but I dont know how can I apply her for visa. What I need to apply her for visa?
Is she the one who needs to go to embassy or I need to accompany her? Also is there a consistent money in your account for your visa to be granted? If yes, how much it is? Is my sister needs to provide bank statement also? Do I need to book a flight before I go to embassy or it can be after I got visa? Also, if my sister get a visa, will she able to travel alone to go to korea and we will just meet there, or I still need to accompany her as she is a minor? Or is it possible if I will apply her visa to korea then she will come to singapore and from here, go to korea? I hope someone can answer me please. Thank you.
What can i do to claim my visa and passport if i lost my actual claim stub? Is is still possible to claim my visa and passport? Thanks
