XIMENDING MARKET is one of the hippest shopping places to visit in Taipei. I’ve been here a couple of times already, so I’ve managed to compile the 9 things you shouldn’t miss to do…
1. EXPERIENCE MODERN TOILET
MODERN TOILET started out as Marton resto in 2004. It was rebranded as Modern Toilet in 2006.
If your kids are all boys, you probably know how fond they are of poo-poo, pee-pee, and fart jokes. So just imagine our boys’ surprise when we brought them to this restroom-themed resto in Taiwan.

3. SHOP FOR FASHION AND GADGET ACCESSORIES

4. EAT STINKY TOFU!
Stinky Tofu is sold on the street. You surely can’t miss it due to its lingering canal-like odor.
5. SAVOR THE FRESH FRUITS IN SEASON
Start your food trip by savoring the freshest fruits in season in Taiwan.
6. TASTE TAIWANESE SAUSAGE WITH RICE
Taiwanese Hotdog with Chinese Sausage on a Rice Hoagie.
7. TRY TAIWANESE FRIED CHICKEN
Don’t forget to try the Taiwanese Chicken Chop from Ji Guang or Hot Star.
8. BUY TAIWANESE MALTED MILK
I got this tip from Chal…she hoards Taiwanese Malt Milk and Milk Teas from 7/11. 🙂
9. TAKE A SELFIE WITH THE ZOMBIES DURING HALLOWEEN
Have some fun with the Walking Dead of Taiwan. 🙂
Ximending Market closes at around 10pm on weekdays and a bit later on weekends. The best time to visit is right after dinner, so you can walk off all those calories you just ate.

P.S. Toilets are located in the upper floors of fast food chains. We often use KFC as a meeting point because of its central location and their clean toilet.
