RURAL KITCHEN of Liliw, Laguna by Chef Justin Sarabia

Rural Kitchen-29.jpg
RURAL KITCHEN is a Filipino hole-in-the-wall restaurant by Chef Justin Sarabia, specializing in the heirloom recipes of Fidelidad Polistico–Chef Justin’s Lola–from Liliw, Laguna. This is the Makati restaurant from the same owners of the famed Mio Cucina in Los Baños, Laguna.

Part of Rural Kitchen’s charm is finding it hidden beside the 7/11 store along Rada St. (near De La Rosa).

The ambiance, designed by architect JC Pererras, was inspired by the lights, mirrors, chairs, and utensils used in the family’s ancestral house.

They serve the famous bonete bread sourced all the way from Liliw.

Make sure to ask for their signature inalamangan santol dip with the bread.

✮ Crispy Squid (P285)

We love this sweet, crispy squid appetizer. Guaranteed to be gone in seconds.

Rural Kitchen-13.jpg
Oxtail Kare Kare (P580)

The Kare Kare has a good nutty sauce and stays true to its traditional recipe, served with bagoong (shrimp paste).

Rural Kitchen-12.jpg
Mechado (P480)

The meat of the mechado is very tender and absorbs the sauce.

Rural Kitchen-28.jpg
✮ Pork Adobo (P340)

I like the Pork Adobo, which is served dry with sauces on the side. This is a favorite of Iza Calzado too.

Rural Kitchen-15.jpg
Lamb Kaldereta (P580)

The lamb meat is sweet and tender, best eaten with rice. 🙂

Rural Kitchen-25.jpg
Ginataang Mais (P110)

We didn’t like this. I already can’t remember how this tastes.

Rural Kitchen-24.jpg
Bread Pudding with Ice Cream & Banana (P150)

End your meal with their signature bread pudding with banana a la mode. A favorite of Patty Laurel.

Congratulations to Chef Justin Sarabia and his proud mom, Lorna Sarabia for the Rural Kitchen concept!

Rural Kitchen-30.jpg

We love the hidden charm of the resto and their signature dishes–Bonete with Santol dip, the Crispy Squid, and Pork Adobo

The Kare Kare, Mechado, and Lamb Kaldereta were also good but they tasted like they were prepared in Mio Cucina in Los Baños.

The serving sizes of the main dishes are good to share family style. Budget P500/head.
